DLD 7-31-07 Will We Ever See Jamarcus?

Jamarcus Russell is holding out for the assumed $30M or thereabouts which is what we all knew at draft time. There were rumors that the Raiders didn't have enough $$ to pay him. At this point it sounds like there's a 4-headed beast that's attempting to negotiate with him. Unfortunately those 4 heads aren't even talking with each even though they are attached to the same body.

Some in the league call this "embarrassing" and state that the Raiders don't have the cash to pay him. With an initial offer of $26.5M are we to believe that they can't come up with $5M more? Somehow I don't completely believe it. The hype surrounding ticket sales and Russell's signing should excite the nation alone. So what is holding this up? I believe it has to be lack of leadership from the top. This may loosely implicate Mr. Davis but with the passing of our good friend Bill Walsh, maybe he can turn his attention to the future, namely Jamarcus' future.

That was a typical

hit piece when talking about the Raiders. The Chronicle is famous for that, it is all about the guaranteed money and protection the Raiders want, can you blame them? It is funny how people throw some one else's money around, $30 million is $30 million the last time I checked. The RAiders want some sort of protection and I don't blame them. What has Russell proven so far, who is to guarantee the Raiders that he will be a great QB?

My laptop got snagged last Saturday and I just bought a new one.

I am VERY intrigued with the Dante signing. Although he is not healthy yet, he is the most proven QB currently in the AFC West.

I have it from my sources that it is JaMarcus's agent that is screwing things up.

it always is unfortunately, they want to make a name for themselves so that they can get more players, unfortunately it hurts their own clients. You have already read about the players who got the bonuses and then bad things happened and the teams were stuck, the RAiders are trying to protect themselves from that and I don't blame them. If this was Brady talking about an extension or something then I would feel differently but who is to say he is not Harrington, or Couch or any of the other 1st pick flame outs.
