Can People Please Chill Out,

I am a little disgusted by Raider Fans calling for Al Davis's head, wanting him to sell the team and a few wanting him to die.  Die!  How can you be a Raider fan and wish anything bad to happen to Al Davis, thats hippocracy at its best.  Not sure if this is breaking news to everyone, but AL DAVIS is the Raiders.  This man made us what we are, one of the most proud, succesful, renegade franchises in the history of the AFL/NFL.

But fair enough lets look at the current situation of the team.  I am also frustrated with alot of the moves the Raiders have made recently as well.  Giving DeAngelo Hall a bunch on money and no long term deals for Nnamdi or Derrick Burgess.  Javon Walker and Tommy Kelly's contracts are a bit perplexing as well.  And obviosly this Kiffin debacle.  But lets not forget the facts.

The Raiders were in the Super Bowl 6 years ago with an ancient and veteran team.  We had to rebuild and reload, and while Al Davis can't allow his team to ever go into full rebuilding mode, we have added a lot of nice pieces to our team.  Morrison, Asougma, and Howard through the draft.  Huff is looking alot better as well.  Through free agency Burgess and Wilson are gems.  On offense I really belive in Jamarcus Russell and McFadden.  Zach Miller looks like a good tight end and even the rookie wide out Chaz Schillens looks good.  Our offense line is great on the run and atleast decent on the pass.  This team is on the right path.

So whats the point of this?  Want to know the last 3 teams to win thier divisions 3 times in a row?  Colts and Patriots are obvious but the Raiders are the last team before that(look it up).

Look we are rebuiling, sure we took a detour with the failed expirement of Sapp, Moss, Collins, Jordon, and Norvelle.  But we are on the right path.  To be a Raider fan means we are tied to Al Davis.  I hated the way he handled the Kiffin situation but lets not wish him dead over 6 bad years.    Let's hope Cable and this team can get us back to where we belong.  And I think they can.......

This is not a successful franchise

The last time this franchise was success was when Al let other people makes the games, namely John Gruden and Bruce Allen. You have to go back to LA to find sustained success by the Raiders without those two.

In this rebuilding process you talk about Al has aquired exactly 3 players that other teams would want off our roster. Nnamdi, McFadden, and Derrick Burgess. This has been the losingest franchise over the past 5 years, and so far we’re 1-3. Explain how thats the right path.

The failed experiment of Moss? Moss didn’t fail, the Raiders did. Al said as much during his circus of a press conference. By Norvelle I assume you mean Norv Turner, and he took the Chargers to the AFC championship game last year. Collins is playing well in Tennessee. Al has no ability to build a team, he hasn’t always been wrong on talent but between a coaching carousel and zero ability to build a top to bottom 53 man roster there has been no chance for the few talented players to succeed.

Since apparently no one read this the first time, I’ll post it again. This has not been a problem the last 6 years, this has been a problem since Al got more concerned with suing cities and stadium operators than running the Raiders.

Raiders record since returning to Oakland: 87-121. Thats a .41 win percentage, or the equivalent of a 6-10 season. He’s had 8 coaches in the 14 years the team has been back (including Cable).

The years where Al had the least imput was the Gruden/Allen years, where the team went 50-31, a .61 win percentage or the equivalent of a 10 win year.

If you remove the Gruden/Allen years from Al’s record over the last 14 years? He’s 54-106, a .337 win percentage.

That first sentence is full of fail

“The last time this franchise was successfull was when Al let other people makes the calls” is how it should read.

So What!

Pete, are you trying to teach us that it’s all Al’s fault and that maybe we should “all” wake-up and realize this. Please… Al is the Raiders and the Raiders are Al and we have won that way and we have lost that way and that’s the way it’s been and that’s the way it’s always going to be be. We are losing now but we will win again, with Al, that will be in a large part due to the fact that we have for the first time in a great while a franchise QB to build this team around.

If you want to hold your Raider fandom in abeyance until Al changes go right ahead. There is lot’s of room now on the Partriots bandwagon for you. I am going to remain a fan no matter what, because of Al and in spite of Al.

Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

Look RaiderPete is right.

This organization is a mess. We have really had 3 winning seasons since 1996. The coaches have changed but management hasn’t. Who is to blame then? Questioning Al does not make you less of a fan. Nobody is jumping ship. We are looking for a change.

by Raider76 on Oct 3, 2008 11:37 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Okay, but here’s the issue. We’ve been the winningest team, and we were as short as 5 years ago. Every team has it’s downswing. Even with our 3 winning seasons since 1996, we’ve still been a team to beat just a few short years ago. Rebuilding takes time, and it takes effort. Al knows this, management knows this, the players know this…all it takes is faith that we’ll get it done.

Complaining from here is not making a difference, all it does is show weakness. I know this team is not great, but I believe that it will be, and as such, I don’t take time to complain about things that I already know, such as the management or Mr. Davis quirks. If I’m not mistaken, Al is one of the reasons we are what we are. Currently, that would be: laughingstock, hard to work for, poor quality, but if you remember correctly, he’s also been the reason we’ve been: great, winners, and the winningest team of all time. Let the seasons play out, wear your Silver and Black, and enjoy watching us play, win or lose. We root for the greatest franchise in the NFL, embrace that.

Thank You!

Yes, I know Al is

the reason why we are all here but he is also the reason why we are where we are now. You said it yourself laughingstock, hard to work for, and poor quality. We were great in the past. If you want to look at it like this in the last 13 seasons we have had 3 winning seasons thats 23%.
Complaining here isn’t going to make a difference because Al is gonna do what Al is gonna do. I’m stating the obvious. To ignore that and blame the coach is wrong. The players played hard for KIffin. They liked Kiffin. Here is some notes from Jerry McDonalds blog.

– Justin Fargas is in his sixth season and is playing for his fifth head coach. So he can be excused for shrugging off Tuesday’s events as just another day at the office.

When asked if it was the strangest day of his Raiders career, Fargas shrugged.

"I don’t know if it was the strangest. It was another day," Fargas said. "Just shows that change can come overnight and you’ve got to move on and do your job."

– Fargas, who became a 1,000-yard rusher under Kiffin last season, was sorry to see him go but ready to move on.

Look I like Al and I like the Raider Nation. I am going to support the Silver and Black no matter what. It is ok for me to want certain things to change in this organization because I want us to win. It would be blind of me to say we were great in the 80’s Al is gonna bring us back. Let’s be real guys certain things need to change in this organization for us to be successful again. Can’t you see the current and old formula isn’t working anymore?

hahaha you are hysterical

a few short years ago?? you my friend are living in the past

they are the greatest franchise in my and your book too, but they are one of the worst in everyone else’s

by Agent Zero on Oct 4, 2008 10:24 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

RIGHT ????

The RAIDERS are the GREATEST an most evolved team in the game. The RAIDERS are change. mr.76 you want change go talk to obamanation. This is pure RAIDERS nation right here, Mr. Davis and the RAIDERS know whats expected of him.
WIN lose OR TIE RAIDERS TILL I DIE !!!!

by 8fog3town1 on Oct 4, 2008 11:11 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

The most evolved?

Don’t think so. Al Davis’s philosophy hasn’t changed since he has been the owner. 8fog Let’s keep politics out of here we are talking football!

by Raider76 on Oct 4, 2008 1:15 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

If ya knew your team You would know that....

You should of done know the RAIDERS always let Al Davis know what time it is, never getting left behind always up to the time.
WIN lose OR TIE RAIDERS TILL I DIE !!!!

I still don't see how we are the most evolved

and throwing in a rhyme doesn’t count and I do know my team!

by Raider76 on Oct 5, 2008 8:40 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Sorry for you if ya dont get it

Lets try something…. Help me help you. Give me some examples of what kinda thing a team must have for you to consider it an evolved team.
I will then esplain to U how the RAIDERS are evolved.
WIN lose OR LIE RAIDERS TILL I DIE !!!!

by 8fog3town1 on Oct 5, 2008 9:41 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

#1 no GM. #2 All decisions still made by one man alone.

There are too many examples why don’t you tell me how we are evolved.

by Raider76 on Oct 5, 2008 9:44 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I

would say we evolved in the fact that last season and this season the team is playing as a team. And the O-line has indeed solidified more. But as an organization we have not.

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!

by mikesd1981 on Oct 5, 2008 11:44 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

That was my point.

As an organization we haven’t evolved.

by Raider76 on Oct 5, 2008 12:14 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Well

other teams don’t have a GM, I would say #2 is more important than #1 really. Decisions made by one man who won’t listen to anyone and ignores people who disagree.

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!

One of us wants this team to win

the other wants to kiss Al’s ass. I’m not holding my fandom in abeyance, I’m waving my fandom for all to see. In case this isn’t clear, let me make it all big and fancy:

I HATE THAT THE RAIDERS ARE LOSING. I HATE THAT THEY’VE BEEN LOSING, AND I HATE THAT THEY DISCARD THE FEW SHINING LIGHTS THEY HAVE

You can be complacent and slam Kiffin and love Al and be excited for Cable, but thats just flat ignorant. There is nothing wrong with intelligent analysis of your own team, calling them out when they’re wrong and praising them when they’re right. Al Davis is, and has been, wrong for far too long. I’m tired of waiting for Al to turn it around. I’m tired of watching Al make all the wrong decisions. I’m tired of having to find a reason to root for the new coach Al has randomly decided to hire. It’s time for some change, and maybe if more fans asked for it Davis would listen.

by RaiderPete on Oct 4, 2008 5:15 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Get it STRAIGHT wantabe (RaiderPete)

No man(Mr.Davis) is above this man(8Fog3Town1). I not kiss ass, no lickie lick, no suck or bow down to no man, understand. No faggat thing or fuckrie I deal with. Real thing this. Fuck kiffin, Al Davis is the man with the plan in his hand, and mr. Cable better handle it. If ya so tired jump ship, if ya chant stand the heat, get out the fuking kitchen, looks like the only one who agrees wit you is some puzzy named zero and a bucfan. Good luck dude, ya gonna need it with all your intelligent analysis.

If you were to poll RaiderNation to vote for Al Davis ouster, surely those who want him out would be in favor....

And if not, they would be the only intelligent fans, thinking with their heads instead of their asses. Seriously, I am looking from the outside in, not being a Raider Fan and all. Go ahead, talk about how shitty my team has been in the past and how mighty yours once was. The keyword in that sentence is was. However, this isn’t about my team. It’s about yours. I truly feel bad for RaiderNation and honestly feel the only way for you to be one of the perennial teams in the NFL again is for Al Davis to not be invloved in day to day operations. Period. If he wants to still own the team, fine but he would be smart and do like our owners do and that would be to disappear. For those of you who say Al Davis IS the Oakland Raiders, fair enough. Don’t forget to cyrogenically freeze him like Ted Williams. Maybe he can do a better job frozen than he’s doing now.

by TheUltimateBucFan on Oct 4, 2008 5:55 PM PDT   0 recs

I got to agree with almost everything you said man,

yes al davis is making alot of goofy desicions, and i hate this ridiculuos coachin carousel. but you cant compare Al Davis to some other overbearing owner(snyder, jones, steinbrenner) because he has done it at lower levels like a coach(former coach of the year), general manager(built a perenial power house including a multiple super bowl vicotires), and even a commisioner of a league(helped make the afl/nfl merger possible and help think of the idea of super bowl).

so the bottom line is that we are tied to al davis for better or worse, we have no say in that matter, i just hope cable and davis can lead this talented team to where it can be….

63, rest in peace man

Cable will be in Stinkattle with Knapp next year with Jim Mora Jr anyway. So the Raiders again will have a new coaching staff. That only hurts Jamarcus Russell’s development further. Not to mention the O-line! I like the zone blocking scheme, but good ‘Ole Al Davis doesn’t. Go figure He doesn’t like something that works.

I'm not

arguing, but where did you hear he doesn’t like the zone blocking scheme? I’m not calling you out, I just wasn’t aware.
