Most Memorable Raider Games Ever???

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the site but love what I see so far and can't wait to get more involved.

A question for you though- If you were to think back over the past 30 years or so of Raider football, which individual games stick out most in your minds?  Things like huge comebacks, miraculous wins, crazy things that happened in the stands, SuperBowls, conference championships,  blunder type games (Leon Lett type things)?

Thanks guys!!  Just trying to get some insight into what makes the Raiders so special to so many of us!!

I'll never forget watching the Raiders and Jets:

I was knee high to a grass hopper when the Raiders played the Jets in the “Heidi” Game.

The men in the family, I come from a huge family, were all mad because the Raiders were trailing and the women were mad because they thought they were going to miss “Heidi”. A sense of relief came over everyone when they switched to Heidi.

The women were happy to get their “Heidi” on and the men were happy to not have to watch the Raiders lose, AND, their women were happy, which always makes us happier, right fellas.

I’ll never forget my Uncle Pat relaying the news that the RAIDERS HAD ONE!!! Then all of the men drank and cursed “Heidi” for blowing thier chance at watching teh greatest comeback EVER!!!!

But when they start scheming us the way these guys did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen."

Welcome

Just off the top of my head (you are making it a little easier only going back 30 years)

SB XI, XV, XIII
Holy Roller Game (1978)
Coming back to Oakland (pre-season game, 1989)
Coming back to Oakland for good (1995)
Jon Gruden / three straight playoff appearances (2000-2002)
The Snow Game (boo!)

There’s many, many more…

I'm here to talk about the past.

Let's see here

1. Snow game (totally screwed)
2. Ghost to the Post (best game ever)
3. Super Bowls (XVIII is my favorite cause it had Marcus Allen, Howie Long, Cliff Branch, Lester Hayes, and Michael Haynes all on one roster)
4. Heidi Game
5. This one Dolphins game that I’m having a hard time remembering (I think it was 74 when we ended the Dolphins undefeated streak)
6. 2002 AFC Championship Game (that was insanely good)
7. 1980 Monday Night Game against the Steelers (that was intense)

OK, so we are going back further.

Cool.

The Sea of Hands in ’74, Heidi in ’68 (that game will be 40 years old in November…hmm, fanpost alert), and worst Raider memory ever: the Immaculate Reception. There have been some amazing comebacks, including against the Saints on a Monday night. I was at the 2002 AFC title game. I cried tears of joy.

I'm here to talk about the past.

I Like The

game against the New England Patriots in the 2002 season. My most memorable play is Rod Woodson’s interception return for a TD. I also keep remebering the ganme versus the Titans where LL Cool J performed at the Half Time show. Man, good times.

In addition to the games above

How about this one from 1982? The Dolts were leading 24-0 in the 2nd quarter before Plunkett and company reeled off four unanswered touchdowns for a 28-24 win. This was a Monday night game, as well – back in the days when the Raiders actually showed up to play on prime-time.

those are all great games....

but the ones that really make my heart pound, gets my juices going were against those stupid donkeys. after what seemed like a decade in getting a win over denver, it was gruden’s first victory over denver. it was the first time a raider out coached shana-dunk and got the win. the other one was this last year. i don’t know why it sticks out so much. maybe because everyone was picking denver to roll the raiders. everyone at work was giving me no end of shit on how the broncos were going to beat us. i even had to put up with a room full of bronco fans telling me how the raiders were going to find a way to lose it. they didn’t, and i had the last laugh.

There are too many to pick one out.

I was sitting in the end zone high up during the Heidi game, the same end zone that Preston ( forgot his last name) Grudenhofer??? fell on the fumbled kick for the TD. But hell, so many games, the Stabler to Clarence Davis in the end zone against the Pats, and more than anything the panorama of all the old Raider games when the defense would be announced before the game and Tatum and the rest would come running out of the end zone with their first held to the air, damn it was fun then. There was a feeling in the air that the Raiders would not lose, not matter what, the crowd willed them to victory and the visitors knew it also. Since coming back to Oakland they have never recaptured that moment in time, even when they won in 2002, there was never the same feeling.

Sadly,

I am going to remember today’s game for a long. But not for the right reasons. Can’t find a drink strong enough to rid myself of the taste today’s game left behind.

I'm here to talk about the past.

Well I tell you what.

If they pull this around (I’m as tired of typing that as you are of the old days) we can remember this game as a wake up call. At least something + can come out of it.

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!

If the Raiders have any sense of pride

this game will better serve as a wake-up call.
