B

for everything wrong including global warming. I am not going argue every point made on this site, but most just blame Al for blocking, tackling, poor QB play etc. I have heard the reason is that Al is outdated in his thinking about the vertical game yet every week I see team after team complete 40 yd. TD’s. I was reading that Atlanta has completed some 25 40 yd. plus passes this year, not sure it is correct but did remind me that the vertical game is still alive and well on every team but Oakland’s. Is that Al’s fault? He got Russell who can throw the ball a long way, but can he complete any, we don’t know that. We have speed at receiver but do they get open, I don’t know that either. I know our offensive tackles are awful but Al listened to Cable and got Harris and kept Cooper, Al is at fault for listening to his coaches, same as listening to Shell and got that stiff for QB.
It wasn’t Al who told Kiffin to look for the Arkansas job 3 months into his first season.

Al

is at fault for not letting his coaches make any decisions. You bring up the Arkansas job. It was because Davis didn’t let Kiffin have ANY say they he looked for another job. Al wanted Walker and Hall and paid all the money for them, and look how well that did. Al hired Lofton, and look how good our WR’s are. Al paid a total of 68 million for Russell who can’t do anything. And now Al is letting the people that Kiffin didn’t want any way go. Hmmmmmmmmmmm isn’t that interesting? Don’t pay Al as the victim or innocent here and think you’re gonna get away w/ it on this board. To many people have started to see that Al is the problem w/ Oakland.

And what do you mean listened to Cable and got Harris and Cooper? Cable isn’t the first HC of this year you know. Kiffin pushed Henderson in off-season and he’s better than Harris.

The fact that you say Al listens to his coaches is even more amazing.

Laoren,

You have a good point on that Arkansa deal with Kiff. In Al’s eyes he invited Kiff into the Raiders family. It’s a pretty small “club” rich with tradition and history and for a guy to say “see ya” after three months was pretty much a slap in the face.

Think of it this way…your daughter brings home a boyfriend, gets married fast and you invite him into your family for him to ditch her three months into the marraige. How pissed would you be? I’d want to kick the shit out of him.

All that said, I still don’t believe Al is blameless in the state of the Raiders nor is he completely to blame. I’m sitting in gray area a little (or maybe a lot) of both his and coaches fault.

Last week

I don’t know what the ticket sales were but the crowd was thin. It looked like a pre-season game, more than have of the third deck was empty. If the Raiders don’t start winning or at least competing he will get the message.

i honestly think

if somthign like this happend al davis would be so embarassed.

you kno the deangelo hall thing really shook the old fart up. you know its major if hes talking about hiring a GM.

i just want it to be clear. if you hire a GM let him be the GM. not some middle man that helps u communicate with the coach. allow him to make decisions you old fart.
