Javon Walker done for year
I don't think anyone else has posted this, but it looks like Javon Walker is done for the year. According to Fox Sports, Walker hurt his ankle against the Panthers. Even though he finished the game, Walker was injured enough to declare himself out for the year. On a more ominous note, Coach Cable seems not to have been informed of this:
Cable, who is trying to find a way to end Oakland's three-game losing streak, had not spoken with Walker and was unaware of the receiver's status, a team spokesman said.
Makes you wonder if Cable is already being viewed/treated as a lame duck coach.
On the other hand, JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden look like they'll play this weekend. I guess this that's good. But I'd just as soon shut Russell down for the year so he doesn't take too bad a beating to his body and his confidence, then wait to see who next year's coach will be and what system they'll be running.

I think
Russell being down for the rest of the year and the slight change Walter does better could cause long term problems.

obviously in hindsight
it is a no brainer to take peterson but considering that he didn’t even go top 5 so he was a surprise to everyone. I still think the russel pick was a good pick. He is just in a situation where he can’t win. That couldn’t put anyone in there and be a winning team IMO they have so many problems and it starts with davis.

Thomas!
Good tackles are not easy to come across. Especially a young one who can be the cornerstone of your O-line.

Absolutely Thomas
Thats a no brainer, he’s going to anchor Clevelands line for a decade.

I would've taken Joe Thomas
I really believe that Walter’s good, he just had no O-Line in 06. Put Thomas in there with Gallery at guard, Grove at center, Carlisle at guard, and McQuistan/Henderson in at tackle and you have a really god O-Line.
I wouldn’t have taken C. Johnson because I thought Porter and Curry were pretty good together. I wouldn’t have taken Peterson because I thought both Fargas and Jordan had some talent.

Javon done for the season?! Shocker. Another steller signing by Al (or is Al
going to blame this one on Kiffin).

You can't sit Russell
The Raiders have put their franchise on Russell being the QB of the future, and you have to take the lumps that go with it. Had McFadden not been hurt then maybe the Raiders would have had a little more success on offense. As it is now, we have no running attack or passing attack, and not likely to get better this week.

McFadden is the offense
when he gets carries, we have at least some offense, when he doesn’t, we flat out suck. We need more weapons on this offense or we’ll never be good.

Let's work on the O-line first.
Weapon’s mean nothing when the QB get’s 2.3 seconds to throw the ball.

o-line = number 1 priority on any team
you can have hall of famers but if you have crap for o-line…you wont be nearly as succesful

but all we need our two new tackles
actually one if we develop Henderson. But we need WR badly. We need a playmaker in Crabtree that way we can have some players that defenses will have to play honest like McFadden and Miller. We also need to look at Bush and sue him in the proper way. I hate seeing Fargas being used for short-yardage when Bush is made to be a short-yardage guy.

So that should be our first priority!
We need to build a foundation first before we start adding accessories (spelling). It is hard to find a good tackle let alone 2. Build inside than out.

Agree
I said this before and Al said this to DeAngelo Hall as the reason for his release, was because he wants to have the money to spend on the O and the D lines. Must build from the trenches first, then get your skill positions after.

See I agree
somewhat with you. But I think w/ him AND Fargas on the field we’re ready to go! Bush did good as a check down receiver. He doesn’t seem to get too many carries any more. Not sure what’s going on there.
