Al Davis is the problem?
I am fed up with this crap. I have reconsidered everything that has been going on with the Raiders and finally came to a realization. How is it Al Davis' fault that we are losing? Is he the quarterback? Is he the head coach? No. He isn't. He stated in his press conference after firing Lane Kiffin that Lane had full control of the team. It's obvious this is true because we played a cover 2 defense which we have NEVER been known to do. That showed that Kiffin was controlling the defense, not Rob Ryan. Al Davis was sick of losing 5 years in a row so he signed some big name free agents and traded for Deangelo Hall which in theory would have created the best cornerback tandem in the league and possibly of all time. But, that didn't work because of Deangelo's temper tantrums and terrible man to man coverage. Javon Walker was a stud in Green Bay and even made the pro bowl there. Who would have known that he's a moron that goes to Vegas and flashes thousands of dollars? He's in his 7th season so it's not like there isn't any gas left in the tank, he just doesn't try any more now that he's paid, thus the retirement situation. He is now "injured" for the year, yeah right. Kwame Harris and Tommy Kelly just suck period so I do disagree with Al's big payments for these guys. They're solid players at best but would be backups on any other team. Jamarcus Russell is a product of a great system in LSU. Any quarterback that plays for LSU can look good even if they aren't. Russell appears to be a bust due to overthrowing everyone and fumbling every time he is touched. Maybe he will get better if we get an offensive line or if he decides to roll out or scramble more instead of just standing there 5 seconds waiting to get sacked.
You can't blame players poor performances on the owner. But mostly it is due to bad coaching.(Art Shell, Norv Turner, Bill Callahan, Tom Cable) IF YOU DON'T REALIZE THAT AL DAVIS WANTS TO WIN SO BAD HE WOULD GO BANKRUPT OR INSANE DOING SO THEN YOU ARE BLIND.

holy crap get off Russell's ass
I’d like to see you be a half-way decent quarterback with the shitty o-line and the poor quality of WR. It’s his first actual season in the NFL, so there’s going to be problems. Throw in the worst tackle combo in the NFL and the worst receiving corps this side of Jacksonville and it’s impossible for a QB of his experience to be the Peyton Manning you all want him to somehow magically be. So let’s see you Russell haters try to be the Raiders QB and see if you can stay as mistake free as Russell.

P.S.
You just said it’s horrible coaching that’s made us suck, fyi, AL IS THE COACH. He calls the plays, he signs the players, he tells the players what’s going on (evidence is Curry), he drafts the players, he’s the entire team’s front office and coaching staff.

yeah obviously you don't get it
NO COACH IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT TO PLAY FOR AL DAVIS. So we are stuck with incompetent or extremely inexperienced guys in there who are never really even given a chance. Kiffin definitely got this team to compete at a much higher level but he still did not have very much control over personal or plays. Davis needs to be in control of everything and he sucks. Kiffin had nothing to do with the defense so don’t even go there. We had pretty good players this year but our O-line sucked, our qb was inexperienced, our receivers sucked, the system sucks, etc. We have to overpay players to play here and most guys on the team are over rated.
as KA1Z3R said, “He calls the plays, he signs the players, he tells the players what’s going on (evidence is Curry), he drafts the players, he’s the entire team’s front office and coaching staff.”
It all starts with Davis and in this case, it does trickle down. the entire organization is dysfunctional because of him.

so....
you are saying that Al called the cover 2 defense? Are you freakin crazy! Are you saying Al told Hall to give his reciever 15 freakin yards when playing man to man coverage? No doubt Al going nuts trying to win. He may chose the players, evaluate the talent and hire and fire but I don’t believe he is calling plays and running practice or do you have proof of that? He gives the coaches the players and has had players “on scholarship.” So no Lame didn’t have full control but he was let to coach, he just didn’t like who he was given.

you are lost. whats the one constant of this team since chucky left?
al davis. if you dont see the fucking pattern now then your never gonna see it. if this shit goes on for another 10 years you still wont see it. its time you get off al davis’ crusty ass dick and see that HE is the problem.
al USED to know what he was doing. the game has passed him by several times over. hes old and doesnt have the smarts he used to have. he is living in the past, he brings up players from way back when.
and to answer you question. yes, al davis is the problem.

punisher--even being a bronco fan--I feel your pain.
You guys are such great fans that it must pain you, knowing it makes me happy as punch, that there is no way for you guys to win this weekend.
Good luck in your rebuilding process—maybe next year.

Pete, I'm curious, "Why Donkey's" can't you come up with something just as degrading that rhymes with Broncos?
We use faiders—that makes sense (it rhymes)—but, ‘Donkeys’ surely you can do better than that!
Maybe you guys can have a contest and build some excitement!

because you're right
we got blown out last time and we actually had a little offense last time. Now we don’t even have that.

KA...keep heart...another early round pick and..
you will have a whole group of young tallented players—and you already have many. Just hope Al goes for what your team needs instead of ‘mainline media’ stars that you don’t need.
You guys are a storied franchise—don’t lose heart.

As long as he doesn't blow our 1st. and 2nd. rounders
we’ll be fine. Just draft Crabtree and a good tackle we should be better. The problem is the lack of playmakers at receiver. We’re stacked at RB and every team knows it. We need someone that the other team has to account for in the passing game. And since Miller is always back blocking, he doesn’t really fit that bill so well.

This is so off base it's not even funny
Al hired the coach, he drafted the QB, he signed Javon (a one hit wonder with a history of knee and effort problems), traded for problem child DeAngelo Hall and then gave him a 68 million dollar contract and then cut him half way through the season. Al himself said that Lane was against all of those signings, and Lane made comments saying the same thing. Comments that Saint and others shredded him for
He signed Kwame Harris who was so bad that San Francisco tossed him out. Tommy Kelly is a bad DT and everyone knew it, football outsiders has metrics that show we were worse against the run with him in the game last year.
Who hired Art, Norv, Lane, Callahan and Cable? Who hired Bugel and White and Shell the first time?
It’s obvious that Lane was running the D because they play a cover 2? You udnerstand that every team in the NFL runs a cover 2, all that means is two safeties over the top. And you know that Lane was the offensive coordinator at USC, not the D coordinator, right? Lane wanted to get rid of Ryan and bring in someone else to run the D, not run it himself. Al said that during the press conference to announce Kiffin’s firing.
He was sick of losing 5 years in a row? Since the Raiders came back to Oakland the best record by a coach not named Gruden is 8-8. He’s been losing for 14 years now.
Why is it so hard for you to understand that Al does not understand football any longer? Because he throws money at free agents? Thats the sign of a bad GM, in today’s salary cap era GMs are valued on their ability to bring in cheap contributors (mostly through the draft). They’re valued on their ability to rotate new players in as aging “names” rotate out to teams foolish enough to pay them for past achievements. Al has demonstrated time and again that he is completely incapable of doing that, he’s the complete opposite of that. He’s demonstrated that he has no concept of the team he wants to build and has demonstrated that even if he had a plan he wouldn’t be able to execute it.
We can only hope that at some point the NFL steps in and removes Al from the teams decision making process the way baseball did with Steinbrenner and Schott.

not true. bill calahan took us to the superbowl. albeit that was jon grudens team still technically he was the coach :)
but everything else i agree 1000 times over. this guys riding davis’ cock so hard hes lost his mind. davis is the problem here… not syaing the players rnt, but consider this why woudl ne player wanna play for a team they KNOW wont be competitive. think of how much better off we were with lane kiffin as the coach. then look at tom cable. players get fed up just like us fans do…how many of you have givin up hope on this year? can you blame hte players? firing lane kiffin was the white flag…plain n simple
