Oakland Raiders Post Game Thread: Thank You For My Early Christmas Present!!!
Last night my son asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I had no answer. Fortunately, there is no "thing" that I need this Christmas season, but what the Raiders did today was the salve that I needed for my soul.
After two years(Three Seasons) of writing, near daily, about this team, I had hit my limit. My blood pressure could no longer handle the insanity and listlessness that had become my weekly mood after the Raiders would completely befuddle me.
Today's victory, over a very solid Texan team, and a team that we seem to have played, and lost to every year, is as sweet as any that we've had.
It wasn't like the Jet game, where the Raiders squandered countless opportunities to put the Jets away and then fortunately came through with a 57 yard field goal to win. This win was a combination of everyone's talents coming together on both sides of the ball to punch a team in the mouth, step on their necks and slowly suck the life out of them.
The game fittingly ended with Derek Burgess BLASTING Matt Schaub (For his second sack of the game) and giving the home fans a deserved early Christmas present.
I can finally say "RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!" and not feel like a one man choir!!!!

Not on TV:
I had to imagine what was happening through Papa and Flores.

It was watchable
on the internet. And for the first time this season the Raiders as a whole played like a team in every facet of the game.
With all the stand out play, we can’t forget Mario Henderson, no sack, no penalties and two solid games in a row. we may actually have something there.
Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

Well
it was called a sack even though Russell didnt go down, but his fumble was counted as a sack. But you’re right. Solid performance from the o-line

Great on the replay
I took an extra shift at my other job to cover my expenses for an upcoming trip to Boston and had to see it all on replay. The guys did an awesome job today.
I am afraid this win will give Lord Al false hope in thinking they are just a couple of moves away (a.k.a. hiring a pushover coach and trading draft picks for prima donnas) from putting it all together. We have a young team that needs mentoring, and a QB that needs fresh young targets.
Let’s homegrow some stars, shall we?

Homegrow some stars.
I like the sound of that. It’s also much cheaper that way as well.

For 5 years I have said the same thing
you win in the NFL when you have a QB, you don’t win without it. Why does this game seem so impressive, simply because the QB played well. The defense looks better, special teams looks better, the OL looks better simply because Russell got the ball to the receivers and they scored a few TD’s. This team is desperately in need of a big time LB. Most of the big plays by Houston were because of poor LB play. I am really puzzled that Bush does not get more plays, I would love to see what he has.

And the Cherry on Top!
Denver loses and could have their playoff hopes dashed.
Merry Christmas Saint!!!

It Was A Great Sight
I was so pumped up when I seen the replay of Chaz and J-Mac hooking up. It was wondrous. It reminded me of the Gannon days where passing the ball was the easiest thing in the world.

Next time
Maybe we’ll actually decide to play.
Congrats guys, your team deserved every bit of this win. It’s a shame that my team couldn’t make a better game of it.

I just hope we can take out Tampa
next week and end the season on a real high note. Hire a GM and draft some O and D linemen and going into next year on a positive note.

Future
I see Henderson as a solid RT. I would like to see the raiders pick up a LT in the up coming draft. Monroe (U of Va), or Smith from (Baylor). ANdre Smith will probably be top 5 and gone by then. I hope davis does not fall for taylor mays. He has been rising on many draft boards and will most likely put up some gaudy numbers at the combine. Crabtree is there, but its not the ‘biggest’ need. Arman shields and Drew Carter did not even play. Schilens looks legit. If curry leaves and Walker or Lelie are gone, then thats the only way I see Davis going after Crabtree. I feel like they need to bring in OL/DL with the first 4 picks and stack the line to provide competition in training camp. I would love to see a D-Line like the NY giants had in the superbowl year. Constantly rotating D-Linemen in and out and provding pressure on the QB.
I would sure hope that Davis brings in a GM before he hires a head coach. The HC and GM need to be on the same page going into the offseason.
