Raiders '09 schedule finalized
Mercury News reports that the 2009 opponent list is out for Oakland. We play NFC East.
The Raiders locked in a return engagement against Houston in 2009 by virtue of their victory over the Texans eight days ago. On Sunday, they learned the final piece of next season's schedule:
By finishing in third in the AFC West the Raiders have a home game against the New York Jets, third in the AFC East, and play at Houston.
Oakland also will play host to the San Diego Chargers, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
The other road games are against the Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns.
Now on a side note....W/ Henderson instead of Harris...the o-line is better and JR seemed to have 2 consecutive decent games...so..um....I'll eat humble pie. While he may not be the QB of the future.......I don't think he's the bust I was calling him....
amazing what a QB can do w/ his blind side protected...
See guys, I'm not totally set against him :)

oh god no
next year’s going to suck so bad. we might (and that’s a strong might) win 6 games next year. The NFC East and AFC north our extremely tough divisions.

Way too early
to be so negative on next years results. No one knows yet what will happen in the AFC North or NFC East with regards to injuries, FA losses and coaching changes, let alone what the Raiders will be doing to improve.
But I will take you up on the 6 wins though. I’ll happily take the over…Name your price.

it's hard to be positive
I recently got a Complete History of the Raiders DVD and have watched it the past two nights. After seeing the Raiders of then, and then seeing the Raiders of today, I realize how far we’ve fallen. Until Al retires, or (god forbid) dies, or gets with the times, gets a GM, and stops interfering with the coaches then we’ll never be like the Raiders once were. I see us being a playoff team a few years from now (my vision shows Raiders as AFC West winners in 2010) but not next year. With a new OC, a new DC, new position coaches, and possibly a new head coach (though apparently Cable’s getting a good shot at maybe getting the job) there’ll be too much inconsistency and too much breaking in of new systems for us to be anything but 5-11 or 6-10.

Find something
to be positive about. You go through life like this and you’ll die of an ulcer and stress. I’m not saying you shouldn’t express dismay, God knows I did on here this year too, but as a human being you need to learn to counter the negativity with some positive. I’ve lost a lot of people in my life because I used to be just like you are on here, and then I learned to see some of the positive aspects of a situation. Which led to a promotion at work, 3 of the coolest most best friends a person could ever ask for, a college degree, and a side business in computer network consulting. When I was in high school and even the beginning of college, I was always depressed, tired, and didn’t care til I started to find positive things too. You bringing people down on here when we’re already hurting is like Justin Fargas and Asmougha going into the team at half time and saying “Well I know you all are upset that we’re losing, so let’s just give up now”.
Even as a Raider fan to Raider fan I’m not sure I could handle you in my ear at a bar watching a game.

like you said, it's not bad to express dismay
Sorry mikesd but dismay is all I got. I’m not trying to bring people down. If I did that I’d be no better than a bandwagon Chargers fan. I’m not all negative either. I even predicted our record for this year as anywhere between 7-9 and 9-7. Next year I predict us as 6-10 to maybe even 7-9 (there’s a couple of iffy games I can see us winning)
I would like to apologize for negativity but I’m in a bit of a slump right now and I’d rather not go into that.
Heh, you should have seen me watching the Jets game. You we be too embarrassed to be with me at a bar during that game. I yelled and cheered so loud my neighbor came over to make sure I was alright.
Once again I apologize for negativity but I’m more positive than you think. I did say we’d be the AFC West winners in 2010.

because it's officially a rivalry
we’ve always played because of the record opponent rule, because of that, it’s become a yearly thing. Therefore, the rivalry begins.

LOOK OUT Raiders Fans!!!
A well kept secret in Cleveland is Hitler’s controlling interest
in the Brownies (actually named after his sweetie, Ava Braun),
and he has recently come out of deep freeze to rescue his
team from their pathetic position in the North Division.
In fact, changes were already made today, and there is
an apparent collaboration with Al Davis.

Impossible to predict next year
based on this year. This year looked like an easy schedule but as it turned out it was much more difficult than one would have thought. It didn’t help that JaMarcus showed his rookie colors but over the past 4 or 5 games improvement was there for all to see. Compared to other rookies at the same time JaMarcus actually performed better and best of all did not throw that many interceptions. As most of us have said, this team goes where Russell takes us. Every other facet of the team looks better when the team has an offense which has been sorely lacking the past 5 years. I hope Cable or whoever takes over realizes that Bush is a big time back and was underutilized on this team all year. Neither McFadden or Fargas would have made that 67 yd. run. Bush broke at least 3 tackles on his way to the end zone, the next tackle Fargas breaks will be the first one, same with McFadden. Bush was the only runner on the team that could take the ball and run 6 minutes off the clock with the game still in the balance. I know a lot of you think the O line needs the most help but I tell you right now, it is the defense that needs help, particularly at linebacker. A lot of people are in love with our two linebackers, but neither is a big time linebacker, a guy that other teams fear, that is what this team needs more than anybody. Just think of the difference in SD without Merriman and with him, it makes the entire defense different. That is the sort of identity the Raiders need.

I think
JR still has a lot to learn and grow, but he’s showing that he does have some talent. He does need to pick up the work ethic as discussed before. But putting Henerson in over Harris seemed to be better. Russell had time to think and his blind side protected. Amazing how that helps. So let’s see where we go. We have an off season to learn. And We go against NYG and Pittsburgh at their house next year (2 local teams for me) so we gotta beat them…I’ll be there I hope.

Russell gets my most improved player award
dude looked awful next year (but that was understandable with no training camp or preseason) and looked not-so-good this year. But now he’s taking more chances, making the deep throw (thank you Schilens), and is a QB I’d put my franchise’s trust in. Russell has gotten so much better as the year’s gone on and will be much better next year with either a first or second rounder at receiver alongside either Higgins, Carter, or Schilens (Walker needs to be cut or traded NOW!).

I think Walter
never got a fair shake.
But Russell got better w/ Henderson blocking for him than Harris. Something the fans have been saying for the last 8 weeks.

I say we need to trade Green for like a sixth rounder
put Henderson at right and draft for left.

Good Point!
I have to admit it. At the beginning of the year, Bush to me, was the worst back from the three we have. (Not including others like Rankins and etc.) However, he showed me up this last game. It surprised me that he could do so much. If I can start the next year today, I would have him thew starter. However, Mcfadden is still the man. I still get goosebumps when he holds the ball because I keep thinking he can score. Unfortunately, I don’t know what we can do with Fargas. He is good, but I love our young gunaz.

I say keep Fargas
a lot of people want him traded but he was almost a 1000 yard rusher. We need to keep him in case we have another year of injured RB like we did this year.

Fargas is by far
our smartest runner. He knows which hole to hit and he hits that hole hard. Ride him to the wheels fall off. Fargas is the type of runner that wears on you and add in McFadden and Bush (he should’ve saw the field more this year) that can be brutal for a defense.

We'll keep Fargas
for 2 more years. We got a great deal on him. Plus he’s still a brute up the middle. He’s good to keep around and mentor McFadden and Bush a little longer. After this extension, he’ll either stay as a back up or go somewhere as a backup, or maybe start 2 or 3 more years max somewhere other than Oakland.

I agree
we need to stop worrying about these other teams and worry about our team and how they can improve. Who knows what can happen next year. Everyone thought Jacksonville, the Saints and the Jets where going to be good teams and see where they are now. Any given Sunday.

I never predict the Saints for the playoffs
they’re like the new Cardinals. A team that should go to the playoffs but never does.

The Reason
The reason he got the most yards is because he got most of the carries. Imagine if McFadden got most of the carries. He probably would’ve had 1500 yards.

RBs
I know i’m not the coach but if it were up to me Fargis would be our starter (he would catch the ball out of the back field more then Reggie Bush), Bush would be the power back and McFadden would of never been drafted….. We would have the back field of old (Wheatly and Garner)

Beginning of the season
I was one of those people who didn’t want us to draft McFadden but there are so many ways that you can use him. I feel we haven’t utilized all of McFaddens skills. Our RB’s also tend to get injured during the season and having that extra back was crucial for us.

Davis
has done alot for the raiders and the league but after that super bowl loss to the Bucs it’s gone done fast. I just get irretated with everything he does now. The why he drafts, the way he goes through head coaches, the way he refuses to hand the rains over to a GM, ect. ect. ect. I DON’T WISH HIS DEATH but it is time for a change and it’s got to come from the top.
