Denver Fires Mike Shanahan
Yeah, that's right. Mike Shanahan is out! The Broncos fired Shanahan following late-season collapse costing his team the AFC West title.
Shanahan is also no longer the director of football operations.
Shanahan had three years and $20 million left on his contract.
I am sure that Shanahan will be one of the most sought-after head coaches available since his 14-year tenure in Denver is over with. Wow, I found this to be some really shocking news.
What do you guys think?

Wow
Great story. This is surprising. Even I wouldn’t fire this guy. This is amazing. Just a thought, should the Raiders go after him?

I don't usually comment here, but...
God, kid. You’re a fan? Do you know anything about Mike Shanahan OR the raiders that happened before 2003? And I thought even raiders fans couldn’t be that stupid…

I knew he was our coach before
I know he was one of those coaches we let go and became a wonder for other teams. Like Gruden. But, i clearly said, “Just a thought, should the Raiders go after him”. I was just asking if we should?

Point is..
we won’t because of the prior history. That’s important to realize. We have a piss poor chance of landing him because he feels like Al shafted him for some money after firing him. We won’t go after him, he wouldn’t ever sign if we did. There’s mutual disrespect on both sides.

I thought he’d be like Landry or Noll: he’d go when he was ready to go or the team got sold. I thought he’d earned it with those Super Bowls and with his decent record since then. I just wish Norv Turner were available for the Broncos to hire!

Cowher is coming to Denver, Shanahan to the Cowboys or Norte Dame
Yeah that’s right, I said it, Cowher will be the next coach of the Broncos and will bring pain and misery to the AFC west foes like you have never known before, rejoice now, cause the chin is coming to Denver.

Shanahan will not be in Notre Dame
the Hawaii Bowl saved Weis’s job. Hell, just lain beating them would save his job, but they destroyed Hawaii which effectively secured his spot. Just coming from a true blue Notre Dame fan.
And that’s unlikely as he wants to go to a team that can be SUCCESSFUL, something the Broncos haven’t been in a long while. I’d bet money that Cowher will be the next head coach of the Jets. He’s already set up meetings with them.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen confirmed that the next head coach will not have full power in personnel decisions.
“I don’t anticipate the next coach will have both jobs,” Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said. The Broncos are doing it backward, searching for a coach before worrying about the GM position. Their priorities don’t mesh with Bill Parcells and Bill Cowher, so the Denver Post mentions Titans DC Jim Schwartz and Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops as possible candidates

Weis to stay at Notre Dame?
I would think that as a true blue Notre Dame fan, you’d be pissed at the thought of Weis being retained. But I can’t tell from your post how you feel about this. As for Cowher, he’s already turned down the Jets job. I kinda get the feeling that if he doesn’t go to Cleveland, he’s gonna stay out of coaching next season. Now Shanahan to Dallas, that would be interesting.

I'm glad he's retained
there’s no one out there to pick up in the ways of NCAA coaching. Plus, retaining Weis gives us consistency and if we had got rid of him, it might have turned away some of our recruits. We have another top-10 recruiting class coming in this year in large part because they like Weis’s system. people need to stop bashing him, he turned around a 3-9 team in one year with many of the same players. True we only went 7-6, but that’s a hell of a lot better than 3-9. But I do agree he should be on a tight leash, if he fails us to at least an 8-4 record, than he should be let go.
Go Notre Dame!!!!!!!!!!

Davis has bad blood with everyone in the NFL so how does that make Shanahan a bad coach. You can research all you want on that but a little common sence tells you that

It has nothing
to do w/ him being a good coach. Why are you hanging on that argument so much? It’s the fact that Shanahan won’t ever come back to Oakland. He still swears Davis owes him money. Shanahan isn’t the only good coach out there.
It’s from this from your post:
Come on over Mike!!!!!!!! I would love to see this guy running the show.
It’s ridiculous to even say him coming back to the Raiders. Ever. Unless he’s coaching our opponent. You need to give up on him coming back to the Raiders. It seems you have a man crush on him, but it. Won’t. Happen.

Now, I didn’t say he was a bad coach, I just can’t stand him. I know he and Al have bad blood but I would pay to see him coach the Raiders. He is proven and hey, he wouldn’t have to pay for that stupid tan if he moved back to California. That would save him a bundle.

Well
see keeping Cable could be good for consistency and it does seem they’re on the right track. But a coach w/ more experience and knowledge could help us more. Really I think we should keep Cable and let him bring in assistant coaches. And we need a GM too.
