Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

I Want These Three Players:

  1. Darren McFadden
  2. Trevor Laws
  3. Dexter Jackson
IF the Raiders end up with those three players and can pick up Marcus Monk and/or Thomas Williams along the way this team will compete for the AFC West Championship THIS year.

Gonna be hard
to get 3 players that'll go in the first 3 rounds with only 1 pick in the first 3 rounds.

Fabian should fetch one of them:
Rhodes and a fourth rounder can fetch the other.

ugh...
the only change I would make is C. Long for D. McFadden. If not him, V. Gholston.

I really don't see
the fascination with McFadden.  We really don't need him and it will be far too expensive.  I am not convinced he will be anything special in any event.
Running backs do not win championships, defense, QB and O lines are the secret to success.  Miami just signed Jake Long as a #1 pick.  Dorsey will apparently go to St. Louis and Atlanta will probably choose a  QB.  I cannot believe that Oakland will pick a running back.  Gholston is the better athlete, Chris Long probably the better football player.  I am hoping Long.
With what we already have, the Raider line should be much better next year.

My Fascination With McFadden Is This:
Bush and McFadden will be the best tandem in football.

I'd LOVE to run Bush 20 times a game and McFadden 15.

Both can throw the ball and McFadden will be explosive in the flat.

Then you add in Dexter Jackson in the slot and you have two home run hitters on offense.

Picking up Trevor Laws is KEY, like I said. IF we cannot get a low 1st or high second for Fabian or Routt then Gholston is the pick.

How are you
going to get a first or second round pick for Fabian Washington???  It took a second round pick to get DeAngelo Hall, one of the better corners in the league.  For a nickleback like Washington you'd be lucky to get a 4th round pick.

A Second Round Pick AND 50 Million Dollars:
Fabian is under contract and is due to make less over the next two years than a late first rounder or ANY second rounder.

I wrote an article on it a week ago. you can also see the poll on the RH side to see how the board voted.

I saw both of those
but I think that actual NFL trades weigh a little more in this discussion.  Do you have any example of a player of Washington's caliber, a nickle back, traded for such a high price?  It's pure fantasy to expect him to garner anything near that.

He is a bit more than a nickel back:
At least in my opinion.

I believe that he would start for at least 10 teams in this League.

If you doubt how important starting cornerbacks are, just watch how many are selected in the first round every year...Including Fabian Washington.

Also
what does McFadden being able to throw the ball have to do with anything?  Didn't we spend the first pick in last years draft on Russel for a reason?  A RBs ability to throw has zero impact on a game/team.

Part of LT's Game is the HB pass.
It is actually in Lane Kiffin's playbook as well.

He's thrown
7 touch downs in 111 games, not counting the play offs where he's thrown 0 TDs.  And the reason he can do that is because of his ability to run the ball, not so much his ability to pass.  Defenses have to respect his ability to run so much that it opens them up more for trick plays.  But to evaluate a player based on trick plays is silly.

Nah, It's just a bonus:
I want him because he is a threat to score at any point in the game in a myriad of ways, he can even throw a TD pass, but that his throwing is last on my list.

How many players do we have that are a threat to score any time they touch the ball?

Definitely NOT any of our backs. Rhodes is the closest but he is light years behind McFadden.

Yeah but...
what about our other two RBs, I think Fargas and Rhodes(sort of)proved themselves last season

What about them??
Their nothing spectacular...

weeks ago an analyst went around asking 21 franchises who was a top of their big board and all 21 said Mcfadden. That's mind-boggling... The question about this weekend is not whether were going to take Long, Mcfadden or Darren haha..but whether or not we can afford Darren even if we release some backs??

After my umbilical cord was cut, silver and black spewed out!!

My Ideal Draft
Chris Long - DE
Sam Baker - OL
Marcus Monk - WR
Thomas Williams OLB
Tommy Blake - DE

A trade of Fabian should be able to net Sam Baker.

Mcfadden???

Saint I can say I am a bit suprised from you requestin Mcfadden. You wouldn’t take C.Long if he is there. I can see your tandem and how it would work out just thinking about wether trevor will be there int eh 2nd. As for whether or no fabian will get us a 2nd. Bucanon got us a 1st a few years back and from the overall assessment I have gotten from everyone Fabian is not to far off that plus a cheap contract. So a 2nd round pick isn’t entirely crazy.
