Raiders Magic Number: 269
I saw him, he could barely fit through the door..... He was reportedly walking around, and winded after 3 or 4 steps..... He is well over 300lbs.....
Those are the things that were being said about JRuss, during the tumultuous offseason known as, WTFAYTA. We know know that Russell is no where near 300, and he is actually lower than the Raiders source had said which I believe was 275. Reports say he is nimble on the roll, and looking fluid. His accuracy is not where they want, but it is the first real OTA.
Russell looked the part on the practice field, rolling out of the pocket with fluid steps and firing with ease on the run. He missed as many throws as he made, but the Raiders expect accuracy to become a byproduct of knowing the routes and receivers better.
He is more confident in the huddle, Kiffin said, and more sure at the line of scrimmage. It helps Russell to know he's the starting quarterback going into the 2008 season, and not just a third-string rookie playing in-season catch-up.
"From this time to last year, 100 percent better," Russell said. "I feel a lot better and am able to move a lot better."
Everyone who needs to be a major part of the Raiders success, was present at the OTA's minus Nhamdi, and Gallery. Robert who got married, and Nhamdi hasn't signed yet. Burgess never comes, and Jordan won't be on the opening day roster. The offseason is basically over, and now we can look forward to actual on field reports, so the rumors can cease, and we can embrace the Raiders magic number of 269, what I never mentioned what 269 was?
"Right now, I'm 269," Russell said Thursday, looking every bit his declared weight. "I was never even close to 300 pounds. It was funny to me. It gave me something to laugh at.

I love how he was leading the stretches in warm-ups too:
If he can mature this season, we will have a DYNAMIC weapon in the fold…

I am waiting for ESPN to apologize
but I know it will never come.
Why is it that sportswriters, and announcers can say anything they want, and there are no repercussions? Granted, reporting that JaMarcus weighed 300 lbs. had no meaning, but you knew from the glee in their voices that they wished it to be true so they could talk about how screwed up the Raiders organization is. I hope I live long enough to see the sportswriters have to swallow their words about the “dysfunctional Raiders”.
By the way I watched the Kiffin interview yesterday and he seems to be getting back that enthusiasm which has been missing since the end of last year. He was even wearing his Raider visor again which has been missing. What Kiffin doesn’t understand or at least didn’t understand is that he is in a great place. He has a young franchise type QB who is 22, a franchise running back who is 20, and an owner who will spend any amount of money to win. That type of chance doesn’t fall into your lap every day. Kiffin has a lot of talented players on his team with a real opportunity to succeed. He will find out later in his career that that is not always the case. I feel very optimistic about this season, more so than in previous seasons where we had to hope that a marginal QB would score enough for us to win. For the first time in 5 seasons we might just put an offense on the field which can score more than 10 points.

Just wanted to share:
I believe his first name is spelled Nmandi.
Also, the rumors about his weight were ridiculous. If anyone remembers, during the draft they were talking about his weight, his grandmother I believe mentioned it during a clip of them in the living room. Something about her hearing about the rumors of his weight so she wanted him to watch what he ate.

269 is fine
I also never once thought that 300 lb crap was true. He sounds like he has someting to prove right now. Maybe feels like he let the team down a little by not being in camp and able to start the season last year. Maybe just a little guilt? It is great that he is working his ass off and earning the respect of his team. I can’t wait to see him settle into the offense. How did Sapp say it last year…”take the horse by the reigns and whip the bi#$%”

We need the QB more than a LB
Jagjivan. But this was a load of bull from the start, ESPN reported it was from an “unknown source” which means they pretty much made it up. Even though he’s 269, that’s pretty good for the way he’s built.

Is anyone concerned
that he missed as many throws as he made? I mean, he’s in the NFL now, the accuracy stuff should have been taken care of already. It’s rare that a QB suddenly learns to be more accurate once he gets to the pros.

Not Worried
He will pick up the accuracy when the season starts. Don’t worry about it.

Accuracy is not that easy to quantify with everyone new. The only WR that is coming
back is Ronald Curry, who isn’t practicing. They also don’t statw what the inacuracies were.. He could be throwing to the right spots, but the new to the system WR’s aren’t where they were supposed to be, they also may not be used to the pace of his ball.

He means the WR's might be running the wrong route
and that Jamarcus is throwing where they SHOULD be, not where they are.
