Stu Schweigert GONE??? Arthur Blank an idiot!!!!!
Jerry McDonald of ANG Newsgroup, is reporting that Schweigert has been notified of his release.
Stuart Schweigert, a four-year veteran who served as the poster boy for the Raiders’ tackling woes, is looking for a new employer.
Schweigert was informed of his release Thursday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported two sources confirmed.
Schweigert sat out last week’s OTA media session Thursday with what coach Lane Kiffin called a leg injury. Schweigert lost his job to Hiram Eugene last year, and the Raiders signed safety Gibril Wilson in the offseason and have moved Michael Huff to Schweigert’s old position of free safety.

In other unrelated news, but bad news for the Raiders. Arthur Blank gave Matt Ryan, the #3 pick, more than this years, and last years #1 picks.
Ryan became the second top draft choice to sign when he accepted a six-year, $72 million contract that included $34.75 million in guarantees. Less than a week before the draft, tackle Jake Long signed a five-year, $57.75 million deal with the Miami Dolphins

Who cares, good riddance. Thx for the update though.
I wouldn’t be too concerned about Ryan getting more than J. Long because Ryan is a QB you almost expect it.

Man
That’s a crazy price for a rookie. Man i hope they make a salary limited or rookies next year. This is crazy. He is making more money than Veterans who have already proven themselves like David Garrard.

Agreed:
There should cap rookie contracts like the NBA/MLB. That would make for more competitive play.

Yay
Stu’s gone. I don’t hate him, actually I kind of liked him, but oh well. We have better players now.

This is not a surprise
He simply was not an impact player. You can live with a player who misses tackles but you cannot live a player who does not make plays. Every defensive back misses tackles and gets beat but that can be offset by interceptions, big hits, or deflections but Schweigert did none of the good things.

poster boy
stuart schweigert was decent as a free safety and could possibly be a star somewhere else but with the addition of tyvon branch and gibril wilson we simply had no other choice because jarrod cooper is able to play free and strong safety in case huff or wilson goes down
