Raiders sign new QB, same as old QB
The Raiders brought back Marques Tuiasosopo.
The Oakland Raiders have signed veteran free agent quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo. The Raiders originally selected Tuiasosopo in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. The former University of Washington star spent the 2007 season with the New York Jets.
Tuiasosopo played for the Raiders from 2001-2006 and completed 48 of 88 pass attempts for 550 yards and two touchdowns. The 6'1", 220-pound signal caller saw his most significant action in 2003 when he completed 25 pf 45 pass attempts for 324 yards in four games. He has played in 11 games with two starts during his NFL career

That sounds like a Kiffin signing
The only thing I can think of is that Kiffin likes a mobile QB a la McCown. It is academic of course since he will never play anyway so from that standpoint it is nothing to worry about. I just have a tough time understanding why Kiffin doesn’t like Walter. He has a very good arm, and really never had a realistic chance for success.

Walter doesn't fit with the system
of rollout passing and such because he’s not mobile enough.

Then you have never watched Tui. That is his strength, and the reason Gruden
drafted him. He didn’t fit the Art Shell offense.

I think is a good pick up
Because Russel will feel confident that he is the main QB and will return the RAIDAZ back to to glory.

I still prefer we'd taken
Dilfer or Culpepper, who knows though, there’s still time.

Woah
Dilfer? No thanks. Hire him as a coach if you want, but I don’t want him taking any snaps.
Culpepper maybe, but no Dilfer. Maybe JR/Culpepper/Tui would be nice. I don’t really care for Walter.

This will be Walter's last year
I guarantee it.

why
this is a problem because if russell goes down we have no chance of even hoping for a postseason berth, tuiasosopo may have mobility which makes him hard to tackle but it doesn’t matter because lack of arm strength and accuracy poses a threat to no opposing defense, walter reminds of kerry collins, a monster arm with lackluster accuracy but a looks like a statue in the pocket, culpepper is the most solid available backup and could mentor russell the best of the 3 but instead we signed tuiasosopo again even though his stats in the nfl are obviously not impressive enough to sway us away i would think but who knows maybe it was bill callahan and art shell’s fault our franchise was set back in the wrong direction a couple years, norv turner just inherited an already stacked charger team which is why he can even be considered a decent coach, hopefully with all these offseason moves we have made it will get us over the .500 win percentage column this year….i’m still not convinced we have a solid deep threat though which is our team motto…maybe add chris henry for the league minimum if he doesn’t mess up again before preseason starts? or trading for joe horn could make our west coast offense more effective even without the addition of a deep threat

I'm excited to see Tui back.
He was never given much of a chance, and the last time he did he was thrown up against a good Jets defense. He’s a decent back up and he knows the offense.
Hopefully he’ll continue to not see the field, I’d rather see Russell tearing it up, but if he does he should at least be able to keep the ship afloat.

Tuia
sucks. He couldn’t play well even when Rich Gannon was around. He went to the Jets and sucked hella much. Now he is back here and he will be bad again. This time, he doesn’t have a veteran to teach him either. He is the stupidest pickup this offseason. I still like Culpepper the most and Walter more than Tuia.

What are you basing that on?
He had two opportunities. The first was when Ganon got hurt in a MNF football game in 03. He threw for 224 yards in the second half and nearly led the team back to win. He got hurt the next game.
The next time he played was two years ago when we played the Jets. The Jets had a really good D that year, and as we all know, our o-line was really, really, incredibly, bad. He played poorly and we lost yet another game.
When he had a decent team and a head coach that ran his style of offense, which Lane does, he was very good. When he played behind a terrible o-line and for Art Shell he sucked, like any QB would. He’s an excellent pick up, a third string guy that will push Walter for the back up spot.

He won't do no good
for Russell, our main quarterback. Why grab a guy just for the backup purpose? Grab someone who can teach Russell something and back him up.

He was brought in as a QB
not a coach. Lets let Lane do the teaching and the players can play. Besides, outside of Dilfer, who can’t play a lick any more, there aren’t any veteran QB’s out there who could, or would, teach Russell anything.
