Final Post-Draft thoughts

Well the draft may be over but I've still got April fever. Now I've read some other blogs and sites and a LOT of people are unhappy with the McFadden deal. I'm not, but there is some good points floating around there.

Point 1: Dorsey should have been drafted. I agree, he should have, but I don't it should have been by us. After all, we ave a ton of dough going to the D-Line, mainly at DT. A lot of people call him the young Sapp. But do we need a young Sapp? No. We need run-stuffers and I don't believe Dorsey fit the bill. I also thought he was injury prone.

Point 2: Trade up for C.Long. This is somewhat idiotic. But I'm not here to bash people for their opinions. But what would we have traded? Besides the fourth pick, there's not much left. Players? Not without ruining us. Besides, there was no way the Rams would give up Chris. I would have LOVED it if we'd drafted him. But the Rams eren't going to let him slip by.

Point 3: Late round flops. I'm getting a lot of complaints about draft choices in the late rounds. I can understand that. Why didn't Al trade Washington sooner? Why didn't they trade Rhodes? So on and so forth. I agree with Washington complaints, there was a point in the third where I could have swore the Raiders would trade Washington to Chicago. They didn't. I think the picks were good steals. Lot of athleticism out there that we nabbed. If the football program falls through, Al can start up his own Olympic team. (that was kind of a cheap shot. But I have great respect for Al and this team)

I guess that should end complaints by you naysayers.

BREAKING NEWS: Marvin Harrison involved in shooting! He's not been identified as the shooter but who knows. It was his gun that was shot but no witnesses identified it as him.

Jay Cutler gets Type 1 diabetes. I say this because I think now we should let up o him a bit. But hey that's your guys choice.

Dolphins and Taylor on bad terms. The Tuna is supposedly upset with Taylor now showing up to minicamps, facilities, etc. Who didn't see that one coming? Don't look forward for the Raiders to take him though.

Fabian would bring us nothing

which is why he wasn’t traded sooner. Look at the draft this way, McFadden, Hall with the 2nd pick, was there anyone in the draft better than Hall? Henderson as the 3rd pick which is what we paid for him, jury still out. We got Branch in the 4th, no idea with him, could be great special teams player, unlikely to get much play on defense. Warren in the 5th round, was there really anybody better than him in the 5th? So the draft was just fine, we know that McFadden, Hall and Warren will play a lot this year so that is a good draft right there. I expect good thing from Branch and at least one of the ends we drafted. According to Papa the Raiders are high on Henderson, just don’t know if it is RT or LT, we’ll see later.
