My Raiders
This post is about who I think will get the starting job on our team this year. You can agree or disagree. Everyone view should be heard.
QB - Jamarcus Russell (No doubt about it)
RB - Justin Fargas (Experience wins over talent)
RB 2nd String - Darren Mcfadden/Michael Bush (I want to see your guys view on this)
FB - Justin Griffin (Experience and all-around player)
FB 2nd String - Oren O'Neal
WR - 1st - Javon Walker (Good hands, perfect receiver, but injury)
2nd - Ronald Curry (He deserves better, but sorry to say)
3rd - Drew Carter (I would love Arman Shields here) (Don't forget D-Mac)
4rd - Johnnie Lee Higgins (Quickness)
TE - Zach Miller (Excited about this position)
LT - Kwame Harris (I love him here because he is better than Mario Henderson)
LG - Robert Galley (Domination year for Gallery) There, I said it.
C - John Wade (Experience and durability)
RG - Cornell Green (Help me out here guys)
RT - Mario Henderson (Good start for Mario)
DE - RE - Kalimba Edwards (Questionable, but more ready than Jay)
2nd - Jay Richardson (Go get 'em when they're tired)
DE - LE - Derrick Burgess (Killa-D-Burg)
2nd - Trevor Scott (I hope he shines learning from Derrick)
DT - Tommy Kelly (Correction: Let's see why he is worth his money)
2nd - Gerard Warren (I like him a lot. Agressive and strong)
CB - 1st - Nnamdi Asomugha (No doubt about it. Best CB in the league baby)
2nd - DeAngelo Hall (No doubt about this. QUICK and BAD-ASS)
3rd - Stanford Routt (Let the sun shine on this player)
4rd - Duane Starks - (Experience, but Tyvon would be nice here toward mid-season)
FS - Michael Huff (Huff and Puff and he will blow your house down)
SS - Gibril Wilson -(Big hits, huge collisions, fear will erupt the souls of the enemy)
The Office
MLB - Kirk Morrison (Any disagreements?)
OLB - RSLB - Thomas Howard (Again?)
LSLB - Sam Williams (I think he will beat Hartwell for some weird reason)

My Raiders
Backfield
QB1 – JaMarcus Russell – you’re my boy, Blue!
QB2 – ??? – Should be Walter, but won’t.
QB3 – Andrew Walter
RB1 – Justin Fargas – earned this spot last year
RB2 – Darren Mcfadden – change of pace/ 3rd down. I see screen passes.
RB3 – Michael Bush – shares time w/ Fargas in carries & McFadden in 3rd down situations. Also, Bush would take over Fargas’ spot if Fargas were injured.
FB1 – Oren O’Neal – better run blocker
FB2 – Justin Griffith – better 3rd down option
Receiver Corp
WR1 – Javon Walker – brought him in to be a #1 guy
WR2 – Ronald Curry – good possession guy
WR3 – Drew Carter – another deep threat, moves Curry into the slot in 3 receiver sets
WR4 – ???? – Purely competition spot between Johnnie Lee Higgins, Arman Shields, Chaz Schilens, etc. No favorite yet.
TE1 – Zach Miller – duh
TE2 – Darrell Strong – would like to see him take over spot from Madsen
Offensive Line
LT – Kwame Harris – In Cable We Trust. He and Rob should make the running game even better.
LG – Robert Galley – 2nd year in the position he belonged in all along. Will have an amazing year. Pro Bowl? Did I just say that?
C – John Wade – Beats out Grove for the starting spot.
RG – Cooper Carlisle – NOT CORNELL GREEN! Carlisle was fantastic here last year, will do it again.
RT – Mario Henderson – Again, NOT CORNELL GREEN!
Depth: Jake Grove, Adam Spieker, Cornell Green, etc.
Defensive Line (gotta say Rayder K, you screwed this part up)
Tackles:
DT1 – Tommy Kelly – how could you miss this?
DT2 – William Joseph – like Harris, hope he can play to 1st round talent ability
NT1 – Terdell Sands – will come back for a big year.
NT2 – Gerard Warren – played well when healthy last year. Better NT option on 3rd down.
Ends:
LE1 – Derrick Burgess – love him, but still a liability against the run.
LE2 – Trevor Scott – because there isn’t anyone else to put there yet.
RE1 – Jay Richardson – good all around, better against the run.
RE2 – Kalimba Edwards – likely better pass rush than Richardson.
Linebackers
MLB: Kirk Morrison – The Firm
WOLB: Thomas Howard – The Firm
SOLB: ???? – I know what we have in Williams and Thomas, but I’d like to see what Hartwell has left in him before making a decision. Hartwell has the added benefit of being able to spell Morrison at MLB.
Defensive Secondary
CB1 – Nnamdi Asomugha – Gets a Pro Bowl bid for real this year.
CB2 – DeAngelo Hall – He and Aso need a nickname too. Some type of surface to air defense system.
CB3 – Stanford Routt – big enough to play against big slot receivers, fast enough to play against fast slot receivers.
CB4 – John Bowie – 4th receiver is usually a deep threat, need that speed
FS – Michael Huff – finally moving to his true position. Backed up by Branch, not Stu.
SS – Gibril Wilson – big hitter we’ve needed.
Not going to do special teams, except for Ekejiuba and Cooper.

One more thing
Justin Griffin is a little more experienced. I like fullbacks that can do it all. I like blocking FB’s that can catch and run others over

He'll stay 4-3
but he said he may throw in some 3-4. I think we’ll do better with 4-3.

I would hate the transition of a 4-3 to a 3-4

McQuistan will beat out Green
So far Henderson is an unknown player, we gave up a 3rd round pick to get him so hopefully he will come on strong this year. Fargas will start the year, get injured as he always does, then be replaced by Bush, with McFadden filling situational roles. Bush would have been a 1st round pick last year if not for the injury. He is big, fast, and strong, a natural every down back.
by Laoren on May 6, 2008 4:58 PM PDT 0 recs
Bush
Bush is the second coming of Jerome Bettis – big, fast, and agile.

RE: My Raiders
QB – Jamarcus Russell (No doubt about it)
RB – Fargas/McFadden
RB 2nd String – Bush(Unfortunetly)
FB – Justin Griffin
FB 2nd String – Oren O’Neal
WR – 1st – Javon Walker
2nd – Ronald Curry
3rd -Arman Shields (Just Cuz)
4rd – Johnnie Lee Higgins (Has speed to catch JaMarcus’s 80 yard cannons)
TE – Zach Miller (Starting to have chemistry with Russel)
LT – Kwame Harris (Gonna be dominant just not as much as i want him 2 be)
LG – Robert Galley (He WILL Dominate this “just not as much as i want him 2 be”)
C – John Wade (Experience)
RG – Cornell Green (Help me out here guys)
RT – Mario Henderson (Good start for Mario)
DE – RE – Kalimba Edwards (Gonna kill on the Raiders)
2nd – Don’t want Jay that much
DE – LE – Derrick Burgess (3rd favorite defensive player on da raiders, even though he’s not an original raider)
2nd – Don’t need a 2nd string
DT – Tommy Kelly (Ypu spelled his name wrong)
2nd – Gerard Warren (He has hella power; F* Sands)
CB – 1st – Nnamdi Asomugha (1st fav on the raiders defense)
2nd – DeAngelo Hall (would be my first but wasn’t an original raider)
3rd -Tyvon Branch (one of the Fastest 40 for all DB’s)
4rd – Stanford Routt (Fast and did good last year)
FS – Michael Huff (Finally went to the position he should have been)
SS – Gibril Wilson (Big Hitter, may cause some fumbles, average speed for coverage)
Now my 2nd favorite Defensive Position (1st is CB)
MLB – Kirk Morrison (Great Tackler, Speed for the blitz)
OLB – Thomas Howard (gettin up there, may be better than Morrison; JK)
LSLB – Hartwell (Stats and expierence, who know Williams might get it)

Sound logical
but there’s a small chance Tyvon Branch can beat Stanford Routt. Tyvon played in a lower class division. He didn’t experience very good opponents so you can’t put him ahead of stanford.

What i mean is
that when u said “It’s the experience that counts” you meant years played BUT two posts before that you said it depended on the opponents that Branch played against

My Raiders
QB: Andrew Wal- I mean Russell
RB: Justin Fargas cause of his performance last year
RB2: Michael Bush. More of an every down back than McFadden
FB: Griffith because of receiving ability with O’ Neal coming in to block
TE: Zach Miller, he’s like a mini Todd Christiansen. That Strong dude will be 2nd.
LT: Unfortunately Harris. I’m not too high on him.
LG: Robert Gallery. Way underrated. Great run blocker.
C: John Wade. Experience and is more talented than Jake Grove.
RG: Carlisle though I hope Rodd beats him out.
RT: Green at first then put in Henderson.
DT 1: Tommy Kelly. Lots of money and potential. Good run stopper.
DT 2: Terdell Sands on run downs then Warren on pass.
LE: Derrick Burgess. Awesome pass rusher. Not shabby against run.
RE: Jay Richardson on run, Edwards on pass, Scott as depth
MLB: Morrison no doubt.
ROLB: Howard no doubt.
LOLB: Hartwell no do- well Williams could actually get this. I hope for Hartwell.
CB 1: Asomugha, I doubt we’ll strip his #1 spot.
CB 2: Hall. Fast and deadly. Character issues though.
FS: Huff. It’s the position he as meant to be all along. Great covering abilities.
SS: Wilson because of his ability to level someone.
There you have it. I think Routt will be third corner and Branch will be safety. Even Rob Ryan said it’s where they want to put him.

also. But for some out of the blue reason, I feel Sam Williams will get it.

The Problem
We all love the idea of having certain offensive/defensive packages for given situations, but at the same time we’re only allowed to have 53 guys on the roster and 45 on gameday. For each platoon situation we come up with like this we kick off another guy that may have previously held a certain role and a role on special teams. It’s another reason a guy like Tyvon Branch can be all the more valuable because he can competently play a role on both defense and special teams, whereas a guy like Ekejiuba (who I really like) is great on special teams but hasn’t put it together at the LB position.
Tough decisions to be made for sure.

Nope
I don’t think so. Routt is too raw to be on special teams.

Branch should be return man
and I like Rob Ryan would put him at safety. The CB are so good this year I don’t think we need another. It seems to me that Bing or Schweigert will be gone and Branch will play replacement safety.

Bing
I don’t think Bing is on the team anymore. He got cut before last season started and signed with the Jets. I think the return duties will come down to Higgins and Branch. I know Hall would want to do the punt returns, but he’s too valuable to risk injury on special teams.

but John Bowie is pretty fast (4.36 40yd) to be a return man i want Tyvon branch to acually play CB cuz he has great coverage skill on top of his speed

McFadden
You guys are nuts. I love Michael Bush, but McFadden is going to be more than a situational/3rd down back in this offense. Maybe not this year, but I see McFadden being the feature back with Bush playing the situational role and Fargas being a more than capable 3rd running back. You know what? It doesn’t matter who fits where, I love all these guys. Running back is finally locked up for us. Everything else looks good though. Rob Ryan better make good with what he’s got this year. We have more than enough talent on defense to be top 10 this year.
