We Still Have One of the Best Madden Teams

I have relatively high expectations for us this year, we could end up being in the playoff race, or we could end up tanking.  Either way, we still have one thing to be proud of, with all our collection of talent, we have one of the best Madden teams.

Star-divide

Speed is probably the greatest asset to a player in Madden. This is where our defense is outstanding.  We have the fastest linebacker corp in the league.  Thomas's speed is rated 83, Morrison is 80, and Howard is 88, while Morrison and Howard are both above 90 overall.  This makes for a lot of picks by the linebackers in coverage, just like in real life.  The secondary is probably one of the best in the league.  Hall and Asomugha are rated 93 and 96, respectively.  Hall has 99 speed, making up for his slight deficiency in other categories.  Both can be put in one on one coverage against any receiver in the league. Along with fast linebackers, this opens the defensive playbook up for anything.  Huff and Wilson are both rated 87 overall.  With Huff being built to play in coverage, and Wilson being built to stop the run, we have an ideal defensive backfield. As for the defensive line, Kelly is rated 91, Sands 83, and Burgess 92.  The weak link is Richardson at 72.  With 9 of 11 starters over 80-overall, and 6 of those over 90-overall, we should have a solid defense, if not one of the best to play with in Madden.

On offense, we have a few things that nearly all other teams are jealous of.  We have a quarterback with 98 throwpower.  While his other ratings that determine accuracy might not be great, in Madden they are insignificant as the user is making the reads and the throws, the only thing he needs is throwpower.   We have a runningback with 97 speed and 99 acceleration who, by the way, can catch.  He can be lined up against anyone on defense and it will be a mismatch.  Combined with a powerback with the strength of a good defensive end, we have the perfect inside-outside combination. The last thing to complement all of this is a solid receiving corp.  Carter and Higgins can stretch the field deep while Walker and Curry can grab every ball thrown to them.  This is not mentioning Zach Miller who seems to have some sort of magnetic attraction to the ball.  None of this would be possible without the O-line that averages 83.6 overall. The Guards and Center are all 85 overall minimum.  The tackles is where the weaknesses are, but nonetheless are sufficient.

Special teams is something where we can proudly say we are THE best.  Janikowski has 100 kickpower with 82 accuracy.  However, the kick meter is not hard to use, making the accuracy a non-factor.   Lechler as 98 kickpower and 94 accuracy. We have the biggest boots in the country.  As for returning, Higgin's speed and acceleration make him an ideal returner, if you have the skill to make guys miss, Higgins will take you the rest of the way.

So when people laugh at you for picking the 71 Overall Raiders, just know that you'll be the one with the last laugh.

I'm guessing

that the Broncos and Eagles corner tandem are the only two better

Neither According to ESPN

According to ESPN in an article ranking defensive backfields of different teams by Tag Ribary, the Cowboys are the best, and we’re second. Here is a link, but you need Insider. To summarize what they said about Oakland, we have 2 shutdown corners, instinctive Wilson, and first rounder Huff. This combination of size, speed, athleticism, and experience makes it one of the best, and a side note, the average age is 25.

However, is defensive backfields as a unit, if you look at only the corners, the rankings might be different. I don’t know what Beastusmaximus’ source is.

Debating

if I should get the PS3 or X-Box 360. Right now I got PS2. Any suggestions, pros vs cons.

Advice

Make a list of games that you would buy on each system. Include games that are already out or are coming out in the future. Whichever list is bigger and/or more attracted, get that system. For example, both have Madden and EA sports games, but 360 has Halo, Gears of War, etc. PS3 on the other hand has Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Killzone 2, etc. And while the PS3 costs more, consider paying for Xbox live, 50 bucks a year, and/or having a blueray player in a ps3 if you have an HDTV.

I bought a 360, but I kinda regret it. It keeps going bad, so I have to send it in to get it repaired. Xbox live has cost be about 150 bucks already, with that considered, it costs more than the PS3. There are some cool things about the PS3, like you can use USB sticks as memory cards. But all in all, Halo was what made the decision for me. I play that game a lot, so I had to have a 360.

Or mod your PS2 and “acquire” games, if you want the cheapest route. Use google to find out how, its actually extremely easy.

I only

play one game and thats Madden. I was thinking X-Box because I see thats what the they use for the Madden Challenges but I have also heard about the breakdowns. You have me leaning towards the PS3 though.

don't get PS3 what ever you do

I would get a freaking Wii before a PS3. The games exclusive to PS3 aren’t that big a deal compared to the 360. Games like Bioshock, Gears, and halo are far better than what the pS3 has to offer. PS3 only has slightly better graphics (it’s barely noticeable) and has the same third-party games has 360. And since third party games make up most of Sony and Microsoft’s game libraries, I would go with the cheaper option. That being the Xbox 360.

p.s.

my 360 has never broke and I’ve had it for over a year.

I wouldn't

really play any games but Madden. Is the PS3 that bad? Maybe I should just play it on the PS2 and WII instead but I don’t know how good the online community is for both. How is it for the PS3? I know the X-Box has a strong online community for Madden.

online for 360 is awesome

I was playing at 3:00 in the morning and still found plenty of games (this was for 08 as I don’t have 09). PS3 is going nowhere and Sony is beginning to lose money because of it. If it wasn’t for how amazingly strong the PS2 and the recent surge in PSP sales Sony would be a borderline company. The 360 is an amazing underdog in the console race (it’s only a few thousand sales short of the Wii). I’ve played PS3 and quite honestly 360 is better. That’s not because I had an Xbox (I didn’t), i mean I even had a PS2 and had no trouble adjusting to an Xbox controller (especially since the 360 one is not as massive and is a lot less complicated). But to answer your question, 360 online is a lot stronger because more people have 360’s. In fact, for every sale of a PS3, 5 Wii’s were bought and 3 360’s were bought. That’s a 5-1 ratio in Wii sales and a 3-1 ratio for an Xbox. From your post above I see you have a Wii. In my opinion, if it wasn’t because families and nursing homes love the Wii cause of excercise, the 360 would be the best console. I love my 360 100x more than my Wii.

I strongly recommend buying a 360.
