Around SBN: Miikka Kiprusoff Wins 300th Game, Buffalo Crushes Boston

Merriman opts to play despite torn PCL.

I surprised no one wrote about this yet, but Bolt linebacker and roid head Shawne Merriman has opted not to get a season-shortening (or ending) surgery or a torn posterior cruciate ligament on his left knee.

Link to the story from the San Diego Union-Tribune

This news has to bode well for the AFC west that Merriman, who registered 12.5 sacks last year is playing with a bum wheel. According to the story, playing with the injury can potentially be career-threatening. I don't wish ill will to the man, but engaging in professional sports, particularly one as violent as football, is a death wish to a career. If he does get injured, I won't feel the least bit bad because he will reap what he has sown.

Sufficed to say, with the problems that plague our line along with the season-ending injury dealt to Oren O'Neil, I'm glad that Merriman's retard strength is at least hampered for the season.

He's an idiot!

Good news for us. He will at first be ineffective and then within the first weeks be on the sideline on crutches.

He hurts himself

and his team by trying to play. It just means we can just run the ball his way. He will definately be afraid and play timid against us because we use cut blocks.

That's assuming

he isn’t already on the table under the knife.

I don't buy that

he’s risking his career to play for his team. He has a contract year next year that could be jeopardized by this. If it was about money he’s have surgery and punt the year.

Or

he could just be a badass and play great. We’ll see I guess. I say money talks though.

Are you talking about that hit in the playoffs?

Trying to crush a QB as a defensive tackle is different than targetting a guy’s knee. Going after a dudes legs is shunned pretty heavily when they don’t have 2 torn ligaments. I guess I shouldn’t say nobody will though, you never know, but I’m confident there aren’t any coaches telling their team to go after him like that.

It’s an even dumber decision since he has to play Denver twice a year.

A problem

is he faces two teams in the AFC West that utilizes the cut block (Raiders, Broncos) frequently in their O-line scheme.
