Open Thread: Oakland Raiders vs The Niners

I figure that I'll open this thread up early so that we can use this to post links and photos and share our opinions before and during the game.

Cheers,

Saint

THINGS I WILL BE WATCHING FOR TONIGHT

1) I cannot wait to see Darren Mcfadden's BURST, live and in person.

2) I want to see how our defensive line performs in the trenches. It looks like they are trying out new combos and mix and matching Burgess up with his BEST match-up.

With the Niners pathetic line, D-Burgess should get to the QB at least two times.

3) How is the tackling in the defensive backfield.

4) I want to see DeAngelo be a shutdown CB.

5) And of course, we should all see just how much J-Russ is effected by his elbow "injury".

Well

I’ll kick it off.
I hope J-Mac gets a lot of play time, without injury this game.
I also hope D-Mac shows me something.
And M Bush.
These are the things I want to see most.

I want to see....

...J-Russ show us a flash of what he can do.

I want to see if Javon Walker gives a damn.

I want to see the first signs of who the big surprise rookie of training camp will be.

I want to see Michael Bush run.

I can wait to see D-Mac….I wonder if Kiff is going to keep him played “close to the vest” to unleash him on an unsuspecting league during the regular season.

(Of course I won’t see any of that because I live 3,000 miles from Oakland. But I want it to happen!)

The most important thing to watch

is how Russell plays and if the O line can protect him a little bit, nothing else matters.
Walker is irrelevant other he is making a lot of money. I suspect he is a guy who will play better when the season starts. I know Kiffin is all rah, rah about practice but what in the hell does Walker have to prove? He knows he will start, he knows he will play and he knows he can play.
The other most important thing is that no one gets seriously injured in an exhibition game.
Kiffin has already been quoted as saying he doesn’t care if they win or lose, and he will not play Wilson, and probably a few other guys. I do expect the first string to play most of the first half. Kiffin says he doesn’t want Russell out there with the reserve lineman, yet he has to play Russell a lot. The only answer is for the first team offense to stay on the field.

18-6 Final Score

Great Game. Everything looked good except the pass game where J-Mac struggled. Didn’t look good.

I agree, but

I don’t think it’s anything to get toooo worried about right now. He was only in for 2 drives, and I think it was a planned 2 drives. Not really a time to get a rhythm. I was proud of Walter though. I always said he got a bum rap with Stone Face Shell and company. Turner drafted him, and maybe Turner was right and he had the Raiders just ready to go in that 3rd year of his tenure if he didn’t get canned.
