I'll be glad when Kiffin's fired

Whenever Kiffin happens to be fired, I'll actually be happy about it. He's not done much for us lately other than being responsible for two losses, getting bad publicity, and hurting morality.

Publicity- It's no secret that Lane has gotten us very bad publicity. He made the biggest mistake a Raider coach can do other than lose, he blamed Davis. He needs to learn that this is Al Davis's program and blaming him, or his best friend Rob Ryan for that matter, is like wearing a suit made of bloody sausages and jumping into shark-infested waters. I love how on the week of our triumph over KC all anybody could report was how bad Kiffin was stepping in it.  This publicity maddens me to no end and I'm sure it maddens Al.

Morality- This ties into publicity. With word of Kiffin's possible firing buzzing around the locker room, all the players' hopes of this finally no longer being a dysfunctional organization evaporated. They knew it was and will be only a matter of time till Kiffin bids "Adieu". It's hard to stay when a coach that was very well liked by the players is leaving. Some players would start to blame themselves or others for this. While others (mainly the defense) have actually elevated their play. I guess the morality issue works both ways.

Two losses- aka Kiffin's bum play calling. I love how in the SD game, rather then run the ball; which has been our strength the past two years, he decides to pass on first and second which leads to more passes on third down. We aren't the Colts or the Cowboys, we don't have the talent to be passing on every down. This is a run first team. And after a long defensive drive rather than give the D a break by running the clock a bit, Kiffin calls more pass plays. Passes don't keep the clock rolling, or in our case, get first downs. In Buffalo, all the D needed was some rest. But Kiffin decides to save timeouts that he would never use and not give the defense a break. In the past two games, the best until that's been on the field as been our defense. All that it needs is some time to get some rest and catch their breaths, instead Kiffin give them maybe a minute. That's not enough for the effort and intensity our defense brings.

I can't wait to hear that Kiffin's been fired. His play calling has been atrocious and is partly to blame for our losses. I took one thing from Pete Carrol's press conference after their loss to Oregon State, "There's no excuses. Oregon was more prepared and more motivated" Actually the Raiders wanted this far more and judging by the defense, was more prepared. Question is, was Kiffin?

I AM More For Firing Him than Keeping Him:

People are affraid to change the status quo that he has developed here. 5-15 is his record and his playcalling is partly why.

Marry that with his ‘I hate the owner" mentality and, THERE’S THE DOOR. Especially when we already have Fassel on the payroll.

Fassel has taken a team to the Super Bowl, HIS team and he is a running coach, just what we need.

But when they start scheming us the way these guys did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen."

exactly

not this pass happy guy Kiffin is starting to look like. St. Louis fired their coach, at least we have better interim coaches.

Fassel = worry

Didn’t the present coach of the Giants win some shiny prize against a thought-to-be unbeatable team last year?

I was never a Fassel fan. He’s another Norv Turner if you ask me.

that's why I'd like to see

maybe Lofton, Knapp, or Cable become the coach. but Fassel is fine with me personally.

Your sentiment is why the Raiders will continue to be an NFL Pariah....

blaming Davis is what you all should be doing. Kiffin is 5-15 in just over a year. Davis is 20-67 in half a decade.

That is nearly the same winning/losing percentage:

Even though we have a VERY good defense and two fantastic young offensive weapons.

I would take a gander and say your defense is VERY average.

VERY good defenses do not surrender huge leads in the 4th quarter in back to back games. Just my observation though..

but Davis isn't responsible for our last two losses

that’s Kiffin. We have an amazing defense that gets us turnover, 3rd and outs, recently a safety, and keeps kickers far enough away that they miss two field goals. If Kiffin (an offensive minded coach) can’t get us points with all that, then there’s something wrong there

I'm starting to wonder if Kiffin is begging to be fired...I forgot about the 76 yard FG attempt. lol

Still, Raider fans need to push Davis out or at least abandon him completely. He is the reason the Raiders can’t seem to get out of the hole they are in…once you all start to realize that then things might get better. I understand he brough titles to Oakland, but the NFL is all about “What have you done for me lately?”. Not much…Not much at all.

He does get us points:

It’s just that they come, 3 at a time instead of 7 at a time.

3's don't win us many games though

that’s what’s sad

Breaking News From ESPN

According to John Clayton, Al Davis is currently talking to many of the offensive assistant coaches without Lane Kiffin, to decide if Kiffin is staying or going.

Even though Lane Kiffin remained head coach of the Oakland Raiders long enough to meet with the Bay Area media Monday, the process of replacing him has begun.

According to a source, Raiders owner Al Davis scheduled one-hour meetings Monday evening with three members of the coaching staff — offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, offensive line coach Tom Cable and longtime NFL offensive coordinator and current Raiders consultant Paul Hackett. The meetings, according to the source, were to discuss the possibility of replacing Kiffin, who has yet to be informed of any potential change.

The “source” (aka Kiffin hater John Herrera) is likely the same one that had Chris Mortenson and Jay Glazer looking like idiots last week.

I for one don’t buy the idea that Kiffin is for sure out and Davis is interviewing replacements. I do, however, buy Clayton’s statement that:

The meetings, according to the source, were to discuss the possibility of replacing Kiffin

In my opinion, it is just as probable that Davis is discussing trying to keep the offensive unit together beyond this season, and making a decision on Kiffin based on whether he can keep Knapp, Cable, Rathman, etc. in the fold beyond next year (all of their contracts are done after this year and there are already rumors that they may leave to rejoin Jim Mora Jr. in Seattle.)

My justification for this idea lies in Kiffin’s press conference today. Even Jerry McDonald (sorry for advertising the competition) noticed that Kiffin was towing the company line a little more today, was being more tactful and less blunt about situations with himself and the coaching staff, placed a lot of the blame for the last two losses on his offense (a huge change from Week 1), etc. See for yourself.

I’ve been critical of Kiffin’s play calling, but I do like the direction he has the team going. Today’s press conference was filled with all the right answers as far as I’m concerned so I’d like to see him stay. Time will tell.

"I love being here. I love these players. I'm loyal to these players and this team, all right? I'm on the side of the players and the Raiders. And anybody who isn't on the side of the Raiders, then I'm not with them." - Randy Hanson, DB coach.

ROFL. This team and franchise is an absolute joke. It’s hard being a fan for a team that has no commitment whatsoever to improving. 5 Years of being a mockery of the league coming off of a super bowl is unacceptable.

You guys continue to try and blame coaches. It’s not the coach. Whoever we bring in, unless they bow down to Davis, will be treated just like Lane is/was. And guess what, Al Davis doesn’t know shit from a piece of tan bark these days. Happy days, another 5-11 season on the way.

I agree 1,000%

Dictators rarely succeed.

When Al Davis steps down, we will see some change in our beloved franchise. Until then, we will be the laughing stock of the league. I guess we just need to “Wear It”
