Raiders Press Conference At 2PM:

http://www.raiders.com/Common/Article.aspx?id=53682

Man, I was hoping that they's just reassign him so that way he'd have to quit in order to work!!! Oh Well, atleast the cry baby is gone.

And now it looks like Al is punishing him by trying to NOT pay him...How does insubordi-Nation feel now Lane?

Ray, why are you so rah rah Al Davis

and so anti Kiffin? If Kiffin gets fired for his failures, why is Rob Ryan still around? The defense has gone to sleep in the second half of the last two games and basically given the lead to the opponent.

And the Raiders lose the last two games, mostly because the defense can’t play two halve sof a game. The offense is ypung and needs to produce more, yes, but that defense has looked like they were sleepwalking at times, in my opinion. And, personally, I’m fucking tired of Al Davis and his stupid fucking “greatness of the Raiders” bullshit!!!!!!!!!

Whatever……..I’m gonna find another team to root for cuz this one is more interested in airing soap opera reruns…….

You know...

Lame can’t keep his mouthy shut. He knew exactly what his roll was in Oakland and he did nothing but complain and bitch for months. I am happy he is gone if I had to hear “well, it is what it is” one more time I would have gone freakin nuts. See ya Lame!

mrod, if you’re a true Raiders fan you’ll be back. It is in your blood. You can’t leave. LOL

This is a big mistake

Lane was the answer for this franchise, not the problem. Al continues to be oblivious to the world and is driving the franchise farther into the ground. This firing doesn’t help the team at all this year, it only hurts any chances they might have had, and the coaching carousel continues for the indefinite future.

It’s is, and has long been, time for Al to relieve himself of any decision making in the Raider organization.

by RaiderPete on Sep 30, 2008 1:01 PM PDT   0 recs

Al does it again

I don’t see the Raiders progressing forward anytime soon as long as Al Davis is the owner and making decisions. Lane Kiffen seems like a smart young coach and will be successfull in the NFL wherever he goes. The fact that Al won’t honor his contract is messed up. Looks like Shanahan part II

The Raiders

As long as Davis is in charge the raiders are the news Lions. This guy is a total senile retard.

well,

you know guys “it is what it is” As a Raiders fan I have learned to work hard and control the things I can control and let the rest just happen.

>35 years for me, and I feel exactly the same way. Al needs to go – the sooner the better.

I need to proofread.

Well, I wish the best for whomever is HC of this team....

I will still be rooting for this team. I can’t wait to hear more about what was going on behind-the-scenes, what Monday’s meeting was really about, and what direction our “executives” are taking us in.

I just watched the Press Conference

Watch that and you leave with a little different attitude about this firing.
According to Al he and Kiffin have talked numerous times in the past few months, more than once or twice a week. He flat out calls Kiffin a liar, goes on to talk about how Kiffin wanted everyone fired so he could bring in “his guys”> Having listened to that, I think I have to agree with Davis on this, he talks about certain specifics where Kiffin lied.
Also he talked about Kiffin throwing other coaches “under the bus”.

by Laoren on Sep 30, 2008 3:09 PM PDT   0 recs

Interesting.....

These things get ironed out eventually. Can’t wait to see this news conference. Thanks for the head’s up. I’m sure we will here Kiffin’s side at some point if he is calling him out like you say.

How did

That was great:

You know...

Al also said Lane didn’t like the Russell pick. Al loves the vertical game. He was also pissed at “three throws” in the second half of the Bills game. They are going to let Russell loose.

by sabp on Sep 30, 2008 3:33 PM PDT   0 recs

It does look that way:

Kiffin’s gameplan against the Cardinals makes MUCH more sense now. He called the dumbest offense on the face of teh Earth. Now we may see some balance…(Saint crosses fingers)

by saint on Sep 30, 2008 3:39 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

He did alot of things

in presaeason that we justed chalked up to it being pre-season. Then regular season comes and he is still pissing away time management and kicking 76 yard field goals. At this point I have to look at the crap that he did and not look in rose colored glasses.

Lane is going to be interviewed on ESPN any minute now.

Stay tuned……..the soap opera is not over……shit is going to hit the fan…..I’m going to order a pizza

Caught a bit of Cable talking at his introduction

Seems like a hard-nosed dude.

My thoughts too.

He (Cable) is also a Kiffin guy, wonder how that will effect his

interim status at the end of the year.

Nowadays, pretty much every Raiders coach is an interim coach

Lane Interview

He looks relieved that this is over. Answers were very “careful” and he was mindful of not getting into the he said/he said banter. I’m sure we will hear more soon.

For all the people supporting Al in this

Raiders record since returning to Oakland: 87-121. Thats a .41 win percentage, or the equivalent of a 6-10 season. He’s had 8 coaches in the 14 years the team has been back (including Cable).

The years where Al had the least imput was the Gruden/Allen years, where the team went 50-31, a .61 win percentage or the equivalent of a 10 win year.

If you remove the Gruden/Allen years from Al’s record over the last 13 years? He’s 54-106, a .337 win percentage.

Al is not, and has not been, a competent GM in about 15 years. At some point he needs to take a look in the mirror when trying to figure out why we’ve been on the bottom of the NFL.

by RaiderPete on Sep 30, 2008 5:22 PM PDT   0 recs

Al Davis = senile old fool

Just listening to his press conference…holy cow, some family member of his needs to take him aside and get him some professional help. Geez. Any rational person can see he has nearly entirely lost it.

I’m not a Raider fan, I just stopped by your blog here because of the news today. My heart goes out to all you loyal fans in silver & black—you’re stuck with someone who has gotta be the most moronic team GM of any team in any professional sport in the country.

One thing is pretty clear: the raiders have had losing season after losing season after losing season, for many years in a row now, under many different coaches. What’s the one common denominator in all of these losing seasons? Al Davis. As long as he’s in charge, the Raiders are going to be nothing more than a perpetual doormat of the NFL. Today’s news conference made that fact plainly clear.
