FOX's Whitlock: NFL Truths

OK, I will not beat this dead horse anymore, but I was pleased to read this in todays article from Jason Whitlock.

1. While the Raiders and Al Davis are selling shares in their organization, they should consider giving Bill Parcells 3 to 5 percent of the organization and let Tuna fix what Al has broken.

Parcells can opt out of his deal with the Dolphins. Parcells and Davis have a longstanding, respectful admiration/friendship. Parcells is probably the only man who can single-handedly clean up Davis' mess.

Umm...

Why would you be pleased to read that?

Because....

It is something that I have been advocating for awhile now. This is one solid way for us to get back into contention with Parcells as GM and part owner. Keeps him around for many, many years.

We’re a mess. I’m not sure AL is the guy to get us out of it this time.

Aww...

What’s a matter, Baconboy? You can sling mud with the best of ’em, but the second someone slings a little in your direction, this is what you come up with?

seriously bacon

that was pretty weak

Point taken.

Well, no. Al isn’t the guy. I personally don’t think we’re very far off. Bringing in Parcells to completely rebuild the team at this point is, in my humble opinion, a bit of overkill. Could he fix it? Yeah, probably. From the looks of how far we came this year (we were competitive in a lot of games early, and regained our composure to close the season and eliminate the Bucs from contention), I’d say it’s looking more and more like it’s starting to fix itself, is all.

I guess we can agree to disagree Amoc

Yes, I think that we are close, but there is far too much turmoil in our front office to make the transformation “sooner” rather than “later”.

You must feel Al is the man to lead this turn around.

Me? I don’t think Al gets us there quickly. I just smell more drama.

Parcells or someone of his ilk? Yes, they get us there, they get us there with (as you have stated) some of the important pieces we already have in place.

No. I hate Al Davis and I’ve said it on many occasions. I do not think he is the man anymore. I haven’t for 6 years of these mistakes after mistakes.

And lets be real here, no one out there is of the same ilk of Parcells, so lets not really go there.

I’m more of the opinion that things are looking so much better right now, that even a jackass like Al Davis would be hard pressed to ruin what we have going right now. Like him or not, he has built a decent offense and a decent defense. A few minor tweaks, and we can contend. I think this team has proven this year that they can compete on a weekly basis, and I think they will next year.

I don’t know how many times I have to say I don’t think Al Davis isn’t the guy for the job around here until you believe it. Don’t put words in my mouth to bolster your argument. I literally opened my last response with ‘No, Al isn’t the guy.’ What do you want from me?

We do

need a GM to come in that won’t be a puppet for Al though. Al is not going to change this team around if he keeps going in this direction.
