Cable interviewed by Davis
Rotoworld reports Tom Cable was interviewed on Wednesday by Davis for the HC job.
As all his key assistants leave, Davis is just now getting to his first coaching interview. The Raiders characterized Davis' earlier discussion with Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride as no more than a phone call. If Oakland does decide on Cable, he'll have almost an entire staff to fill
He is still under contract until Jan 13th. So we'll see.

Kepp Cable for the love of god
three reasons:
1. Consistency
2. He lead us to finish strong and 1 win better than last year
3. The players like him, a lot
way to stay up-to-date mike.

Tom Cable
I love that this guy runs trick plays. I think that shows he is driven to win. He will do whatever necessary to win and won’t call “safe”(stupid) plays to lose us the game in the 4th quarter like Lame Kiffin did, the onside kick against the Bucs was great. The players seem to be a lot more motivated with Cable at the helm. The locker room seemed like it was split up when Kiffin and Rob Ryan were running the show.
As the interim head coach Cable went 4-8 with a struggling and dysfunctional team after their head coach had been fired. If Cable would’ve started out the season as the head coach it is very likely that the Raiders would have finished with a much better record than 5-11. I say we give this guy a shot at starting a fresh season to keep our consistency and to see if we can build off our two big wins to finish the 2008 season.

I vote Cable
It’s not so much the two wins at the end of the season- although they surely help- as it is maintaining some sort of consistency. Not sure what it is about Cable, but I like him. He’ll never be confused with a (insert your favorite all-time coach here), and I think he’s fine with that.
He stays within the company line, but doesn’t cross it. He’s not trying to sell Super Bowls, just the next step. Which for now, is simply trying to eliminate a losing culture.
I'm here to talk about the past.

It would only seem fair to
keep Cable as coach but fair and the right decision are 2 different things. Cable is a good O-line coach and should stay that way. I’ll take Warren Sapp’s word when he said that Cable could not game plan for other teams. He did an admirable job with the team this year but he is not the solution. We need an offensive minded head coach.

So umm..
We need an offensive minded head coach.
Coaching the o-line doesn’t make him offensive minded?

He is an o-line
coach. Not an offensive mind. The same coach who tried a fake field goal with an overweight kicker. He is the same coach who couldn’t find enough touches for McFadden and kept Bush under wraps. He did not fully utilize our three backs in the way the should’ve. An offensive minded coach would find a way to get D-Mac the ball.

Yet another name mentioned
After guiding the Montreal Alouettes to a berth in the Grey Cup in his first year, head coach Marc Trestman appears to be getting some attention south of the border.
According to NFL on CBS analyst Charley Casserly, the Oakland Raiders are interested in talking to Trestman about their vacant head coaching position.
