Ok, lets pull the T.O. ripcoord
Ok, lets pull the T.O. ripcoord
One reason he would be good is, he is an experienced Receiver that can run his routes while keeping his eyes on the Quarterback, wanting the ball. These young receivers not doing this at all. They aren't getting open in in fact they aren't even looking at JMR while they run the routes.
Another reason, he would pull some pressure off the young Receivers and give them a chance to make plays. Starting two rookie receivers is a feat in its own. How can you blame Russell for all the drops.
As much as I think T.O. is the worst locker room presence, he would do wonders for this young team. We need a Vet Receiver and I think T.O. is our answer.
Get on the horn Al I know Owens would rather be in Oakland the Barfallo.

We don't need that kind of turmoil in the locker room
that may be ready to fall apart as it is. Remember the Randy Moss experiment that we tried?

id be happy to try almost anything at this stage
almost (not TO)

Boy, that's exactly what we need
Another distraction in the midst of a locker room already frayed and in danger of coming apart entirely.

are you kidding
this franchise has already fallen apart entirely, i would love to have TO in our locker room. He’s exactly what we need a loud mouth to get everyone up and going. Honestly having To would be great he is going to be the reciever to get in jamarcus face and he’s a hard worker with experience to teach. i dont see a problem with TO in the raiders he would obvs. be the number one rec. and he would help on the field. Moss is my fav player of all time time and even thouhg that experiment went nowhere moss is not a leader but TO puts his voice out there…..i tihnk it can work out

You're not familiar with Owens' career, are you?
He is the bad kind of vocal.

I agree
Someone needs to get in their face, because none of the coaches will. We need a vocal leader on offense, all we have right now is talented shy people.
Where oh where has our leadership gone, oh where, oh where can it be??

Russell said Chaz Goes and gets it
JaMarcus Russell says he misses Schilens because he is the type of guy that goes up and fight for it. He wants the damn ball.
T.O. also goes up and fights for it. How about two receivers like that, bench DHB, Louis Murphy in the slot, all the sudden the Raiders win their next eleven in a row
Bring T.O. in just in time to play the Eagles!

Except that TO
is more of a problem than a help. You have to look at more than just field performance. If he’s going to rip apart the locker room and cause more distractions we just don’t need, then he’s not worth the pickup.

See your point
Just thinking the Raiders are flat-lining and could use defibrillation. Personally, I’d prefer if they could have gotten Boldin, and, of course, the Randy Moss trade was the worst ever.
by rightnasty on Oct 13, 2009 5:44 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Why was that trade bad?
Moss was a cancer in the organization. He was starting to cause problems and we didn’t need that distraction either. That was a good move. He wanted out. If you owned a business and someone wanted to and vocally wanted out so much he was causing a distraction and loss of production, would you not let him go?
Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!
by mikesd1981 on Oct 13, 2009 5:47 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
It was bad
Because we got a lousy draft pick which we used to pick a guy that we just cut. So they got Moss absolutely free. Funny, he doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Patriots. You know he wasn’t the cancer. The cancer is that guy sitting up in the booth with the slick-backed hair, and spreading outward from him.
Randy probably knew then what we’re all just getting around to now. That the ship is sinking, and somebody forgot to bring lifeboats. Just look at us in here all complaining how the WRs are dropping passes left and right, and talking about in this thread how we need a big name receiver. We had one, but he didn’t want to wait around until Al saw the light.
by rightnasty on Oct 13, 2009 6:05 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He's not a problem in NE
cuz NE is a winning team. That’s all he wanted. Was to be on a winning team. Not to help the team win.
We got a lousy pick cuz Davis is a fool.

Isn't that what all players want?
And didn’t Garcia say it himself, that the Raiders players are only there to collect a paycheck? And who can blame them? Help this team win? How? It’s not possible. No one player is going to come in make a major difference. It’s going to a bunch just to get to .500. I mean, really. Would you want to play for this team? Would you come here with the idea that you were going to help turn things around knowing what you do about the team and about Al? And how long would you stay when season after season it’s been the same thing for 6 years running?

The point I'm trying to freaking make here
is that he’s not a team guy. He’s a me guy. Just like T.O.

Dude
All I’m saying is, no matter how much team player you are, most people are not going stick around forever if the situation looks hopeless. Look at us in here. Look how upset and demoralized we are. Now imagine you have to go out onto the field every Sunday and be humiliated in front of thousands of people. Yeah, the money’s nice, but the losing is going to get to you. Don’t you worry that players like Nnamdi are eventually going to get fed up too?
by rightnasty on Oct 13, 2009 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Maybe
but I think some of them are really trying to turn it around. Some of them have even talked to Davis personally. And if there’s one good thing about Davis these days, it’s he listens to the players.

T.O.tally wrong!
we dont need T.O. ! we need a better o-line than a premadonna wr! If we add anyone i hope it marvin harrison or mike vick! I think harrison would do a better job of coaching from the sidelines than walker, and vick for when we finally decide to bench j-russ! I can still see vick go in motion with bush and mcfadden running the "wild"raider! or trade walker for shaun rogers and lets get 1 side of the ball decent before draft time so we can focus on the otherside.
by LaRaider on Oct 13, 2009 8:52 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
T.O. is not the answer!
The problem is that we have a quarterback who has the tendencies to stare down his recievers before he releases. A quarterback who we had to dumb down the playbook for. A quarterback who does not put in the effort to become great. A quarterback who comes into camp overweight. A quarterback who takes responsuibilities for the failures of this offense instead of blaming his recievers. We have young talent at the reciever position with Murphy, Schilens, Higgins and Miller. The jury is still out on DHB because we got him mainly to be a deep threat but all of JaMarcus’ deep passes have been off. So all he does in passing situations is go deep.
by Raider76 on Oct 13, 2009 12:12 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
why?
why would we trade some of our good young players for a 35 year old reciever who has a worse attitude then steven jackson at this point? we do need a veteran reciever yes but TO is not the answer, hes pissed off in buffalo think how pissed off he would be here our quarterback isnt even capable of getting the ball close to him. bad idea.

the locker room is actually a united group
united in it’s hatred of working for an inept owner and running the plays of a complete dumbass aka Tom Cable. Oh and this just in, Russell is somehow still a starting QB in this league. I’m pretty sure even Ryan Leaf was benched when the coaches figured out he didn’t care. What’s taking the Raiders so long?

JMR
I’m not ripping on Russell in fact I like him. He did great things in College and I think he can do great things in the Pro’s. If anything I am making excuses for him. Elway, Eli Manning, a lot of Quarterbacks started out atrocious
by Black_Ice on Oct 15, 2009 7:40 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
BUT
They PROGRESSED throughout their early career. The never went this far backwards. And they actually CARED and TRIED and WORKED HARD….
I don’t understand how any one can make excuses for him any more. Nothing is changing. He himself came out and said he’s happy where his progress is.
He’s horrible. It’s not just that his o-line is weak. It’s the fact that the QB fundamentals are not there and they don’t seem like they’ll ever be there and his HEAD coach and QB coach has come out and said this.

Murphy doesn’t seem to mind. He is still getting his shots and touchdowns. There needs to be that confidence Cable is talking about, and all the young players can work together with the older players and make something happen.
by Black_Ice on Oct 15, 2009 12:39 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs

have to want it to happen.
Russell just isn’t starter material, and the more I watch him the more I think he won’t ever be.

They can run as well as the overall no.4 pick in the 2008 draft. And despite being fat and out of shape, still no turf toe and no knee injury. Apparently Jabba the Hut can take the hits better than our star running back.

It's quite possible that McFadden might end up as big a bust as Russell
well not literally as he’s a much smaller man but so far he hasn’t shown much other than the ability to get hurt.
I like Michael Bush better myself but I like guys who can pound it inside and I’d still love to know why the heck Justin Fargas got 11 carries last week (for 18 yards!). Give those carries to Bush and let’s see what he can do.
by sirbed on Oct 13, 2009 10:11 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well I didn't have high
hopes for McFadden to begin with, but I had no ill toward him either. He had turf toe last year, and they worked on getting him new shoes. I’d like to see how he finishes the season before I call him a bust. Also I’d like to see him where the opposing defense doesn’t know they can stuff the box and kill our run too.
But I see your point, and I agree with it. Just not sure I want to throw whole heart into it. I’m not sure how to articulate my opinion here.

Listen I hope McFadden ends up being great
I think in the right system he could do some damage but I’m not sure he’s a every down back.
I’d like to see the Raiders throw to him more and maybe even line him up outside but as a between the tackles runner I don’t think he’s as good as Bush.

That's true
Russell is a fumbler. Seems to lack peripheral vision so that when somebody comes around the blind side, they can just take the ball out of his hand.

T.O. is bad
if he doesnt get the ball…
but if you think about it, he fits.
hes awesome at running fades and goin up to get the ball
n the 3 plays we run is dmc (or bush) up the gut, then dmc (or bush) up the gut, then deep bomb to dhb or murphy. if we had t.o. that would increase the likelyhood that a pass like that actually connects…
but i think we dont need him. we have walker but for some reason we arent using him which is retarded but hes a veteran presence.
T.O. would be nice, maybe even great, but definitely not necessary
