Cable Cleared, Hanson's a liar!
Tom Cable is cleared criminally, but still faces the possibilities of penalties from the NFL, or a civil lawsuit.
Cable has hired an attorney, and he could be looking into pressing charges against Hanson.
The D.A. basically called Hanson a liar, in a long, round about political way.
It's been a great week to be a Raider. Sunday, Raiders beat Eagles 13-9.
Monday, I win my office football pool, $105
Wednesday, Chaz Schilens competes in unlimited practice, and Cable says, "he'll play a lot."
Thursday, Cable excused of criminal charges in Hanson case.
What do you think nation? Is the tide changing?

I agree with KA1Z3R
let’s see them win two in a row before we talk about any tides changing.

I'm gonna have to say we need to beat the Jets and Chargers
Before you can say the tide is turning, I know its a tall order but those are 2 winnable games. Looks like Al and the Mafia payed a visit to the Napa DA’s home… Raider Standard Baby… ESTABLISH FEAR AND DOMINANCE!!!

I'd just be happy with beating the Jets
because then we’d have 3 wins so we wouldn’t have a repeat of 06 where we went 2-14.

I agree
I will decide after the Jets game. But it would’ve been badass to have a felon for a coach. That be some classic Raider shit right there!!

well he wouldn't be a coach very long would he?
He’s be in jail and the NFL would have at least suspended him

No felons for head coach please
if Cable had been arrested his career would have been over at some point. I guess Hanson broke his own jaw but whatever at this point I just hope they can beat the Jets on Sunday.

Tom Cable
Shaq and Sir Charles wanted to see Cable go to jail so they could see “FREE CABLE” signs. Well, that was just Shaq on that one.

FREE CABLE!
Who broke his jaw?Who actually cares? How did he break it then?Still, nobody cares!Hanson got jacked up for underminding a man living his dream! Hanson was just trying to clear a wider path to the H.C. position, and with Cable out the way he would have done it! If not for you pesky kids and that dog….opps, thats scoob. But really, given the situation,If you were the Headcoach of the Raiders, and you had to work with a weasle who tried to pull crap like that…what would you do?heck, wwjd?Bust him in the chops? Let Hanson continue to Belittle you as head coach? Me?I would have stuffed his poo-butt in one of those tackling sleds!

Teamwork does exist
That’s true solidarity under pressure – Cable’s loyal coaching staff. Some luck too, Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) wasn’t in wine country and the blitz yielded a favorable outcome and a good vibe.

Cable got lucky...
In a small itty bitty way I was kinda hoping that he would be accused of assault and face criminal charges and lose his position as the HC so we can move forward and prepare for bigger and better things. I don’t like challenging any mans lively hood but honestly, IMO he is not going to bring us to a winning season

I don't know.
If Davis gave the coaching free reign against Philadelphia and we won. He didn’t make it to the TB game and we won.
I’m torn now If I think Cable’s a good HC. I’m wondering if he’s being impaired by Davis. Would any coach that came to Oakland be any different (Gruden aside)

I'm with you 100% on this
How can we really evaluate this guy given the rules he seems to have to operate under? I loved last weekend’s departure from vanilla defense. Will Cable and Marshal be allowed to continue to do as they see fit? On offense they have a makeshift line, a crappy (so far) young QB, 2 rookie WR’s forced into the line-up and an antiquated offensive scheme. Tough to succeed given those circumstances. Easy to blame the head coach but we have to look at the big picture.
by Rusty23 on Oct 23, 2009 8:10 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
it's ultimately why you have to consider it part of any Raider coach's evaluation:
the ability to get Al to let you coach to that point necessary to get respect from players, hard work on the practice field, execution, and therein results, It is something that’s innate for certain guys—the John Maddens, Jon Grudens, Tom Floreszzzz-not so for others, but, impossible for them?
I believe Cable has demonstrated he’s had the team behind him for quite some years, even before he was made head coach last year, but certainly during that period. i’m incilined to believe he can persuade Al to trust him and allow him a much larger degree of control—he’ll never relinquish it completely—especially by “just winning baby.”
It seems to fix everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if Al gives them free reign to start the game, but revert if the result aren’t immediate again. I feel they will be.

I hear where you're coming from
and really agree with you. But… This is Al 2009, older and crankier. I’ve said it before, he reminds me of my dad. As he gets older, he gets more and more headstrong so even things he would have allowed 10 years ago, won’t fly today. Why does he give a crap what Rich Gannon says? Would he have cared 20 years ago? Nope. This environment is different (as are the players and the offensive and defensive schemes of the NFL). No coach can be successful in this environment. How come a coach along the lines of a Cowher doesn’t want to come to the Raiders?
by Rusty23 on Oct 24, 2009 8:22 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Cowher, indeed, would be an excellent choice, but he's not ready to coach any football team right about now
Much less the Raiders. Not that I believe he’s adverse to the challenge coaching the Raiders would present.
Word from guys I hear no NFL radio and who claim to know him personally say he’s enjoying spending time with his family, not working 20 hours a day, sleeping, and all that other stuff that falls to the wayside for a coach like Bill.
I agree he’s older and crazy and stubborn, but if you’d ask me if he would allow Cable and Marshall to do what they did last week, I’d have said you were on crack, so I’ll remain hopeul he truly does like winning, and has begun to question if his intereference in games has been the cause for our woes.
by brhynno on Oct 24, 2009 1:31 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Agreed
I hope that Marshall didn’t get into too much trouble for last weekend’s success. Won’t be able to do as much this week with a sound Jets rushing game. As long as they aren’t 100% predictable, I’ll be happy.
We’ll have to see what we get with the offense. Maybe, if Schilens does play, Russell will feel a tad more comfortable and make sound football decisions.
by Rusty23 on Oct 24, 2009 1:43 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
astute observation. I believe Marshall can at least slow the attack, and force them to throw when they don't want to
maybe creating some turnover opportunities. You also can bet Raiders will be practicing stripping Washington and company.
Unfortunately, it sound as though Chaz hurt his foot practicing, and has been reduced to probable, and I’d prefer we didn’t risk him hurting himself worse, further compounding our ability to get WR’s involved in the game. Russell and Miller, and Russell and Russell will have to provide the majority of help through the air, and hopefully enough to keep them from keying on our run.
