Jets @ Raiders 2nd-Half Game Thread

24-0 Jets. Can the Raiders do anything to salvage this and keep it from getting any uglier then it is?

If so, it's now up to Bruce Gradkowski to do it.

can’t watch the game in Georgia

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 2:40 PM PDT reply actions

I think if we take away the run, then maybe we have a long shot of a chance.

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 2:44 PM PDT reply actions

it looks like the receivers are catching the ball

whats going on? is it just russel throwing 2 ints? is the defense giving up the plays that badly?

by patriotguy on Oct 25, 2009 2:44 PM PDT reply actions

NYJ is just running right through b/c their passing game sux. If the Jets can’t run then Mark has got to throw. Oakland hasn’t gotten anything going even when we sustain a good drive. 2 INTs and 3 and outs don’t do the defense any favors.

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 2:46 PM PDT reply actions

Oh yeah!!!!!

Gradkowski is in!!!!! this is what we need!!!!

And Huff

by Remix. on Oct 25, 2009 3:02 PM PDT reply actions

is anyone really surprised here?

It’s going to be like this every week for the rest of the season…I expect them to lose every time they take the field…it’s not going to change until Al is dead….

by G M on Oct 25, 2009 3:02 PM PDT reply actions

I don’t think last week was a fluke. Turnovers are what’s really killing us and 3 and outs aren’t helping, either.

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:03 PM PDT reply actions

Johnson is not good enough to play opposite Nnamdi

You’re going to take some heat in that situation, and Chris has shown he can’t handle that task.

Can russell be waived after this year?

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:06 PM PDT reply actions

I thought he can be cut at anytime...

it’s just that the payout is guaranteed and counts against the cap. I could be wrong though.

by G M on Oct 25, 2009 3:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

there’s a ton of guaranteed money there. You can see some of it on Jamarcus’ ears and fancy hairdo.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:10 PM PDT up reply actions

We should not draft a QB

OL and DL yes, but can’t depend on yet another young QB. There are always veterans who can be picked up. We don’t need a superstar. We just need someone who can execute. JR can’t execute consistently, and he’s shown no mental growth.

@worldblee on Twitter.

by worldblee on Oct 25, 2009 3:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Not sure, but there are always guys available

The salary cap can make it hard to keep around veteran backups.

u think philly is really gonna keep

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions

They should try

to go get get Chase Daniels from the skins… offer a low draft pick for him

by G M on Oct 25, 2009 3:15 PM PDT up reply actions

With you on that.

Have mostly ignored the lines for a few years.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Colt McCoy might be a good QB to draft. I love Tebow(Gator fan), but I’m not sure he’d fit with Oakland other than teaming with Louis Murphy again

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:13 PM PDT reply actions

Bradford’s injury is a cause for concern to me

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:14 PM PDT reply actions

Pretty bad 2010 QB free agent crop!

Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins

by patriotguy on Oct 25, 2009 3:19 PM PDT reply actions

Look we need stability at the Head coaching spot not fire guy every year.

I have to agree with the questioning of Tebow as a QB. He might be good in the wildcat.

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:19 PM PDT reply actions

any young qb

without a doubt needs stability from the head coach. alex smith looked pretty damn good today. and we all know how many coaches he’s gone through

Anything is better than ..

listening to Matt Millen!! He led a team to an 0-16 record and they give him a job as an expert commentator!!! Isn’t that like having the down syndrome kid explain calculus??

drafting a qb to me is one of the worst ideas

how many times do qbs pan out with early success? Ryan and Flacco only come along once a blue moon

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:24 PM PDT reply actions

For all those who want to draft a QB

Remember how much salary cap pain we already have with JaMarcus. If you take a high QB draft pick you’ll be stuck with more guaranteed money that might not pay off.

@worldblee on Twitter.

by worldblee on Oct 25, 2009 3:24 PM PDT reply actions

We should draft McCoy. We need a leader at QB. When is the uncapped year?

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:25 PM PDT reply actions

Lol, old Bruce doing his best JaMarcus impression

Awful lucky the defender dropped that pick.

@worldblee on Twitter.

by worldblee on Oct 25, 2009 3:25 PM PDT reply actions

let's be real here

we, as the raider nation, have almost the same mentality of Al Davis. None of us has the patience to let a QB develop. we want results now. So why would we be talking about taking another QB in the next draft?

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:29 PM PDT reply actions

im talkin about getting results from a qb

immediately. JR has had how many different coaches so far? you can just keep changing coaches and qbs and expect results

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:33 PM PDT up reply actions

i'm not saying I want JR

what i am saying is everybody seems to think fuck it let’s just draft a new qb next year. to much of a gamble and if that qb doesnt pan out in a year or two we say fuck him too and we’re right back where we started

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:36 PM PDT up reply actions

I think we've become less patient

because few of us wanted Jabustus drafted and we see other rookies (Sanchez for example) have some success or at least look like they belong on the football field.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:32 PM PDT up reply actions

that's why i'm saying

lay off drafting a qb because they’re such a gamble and you never know what you’re really gonna get until like 4 or 5 years down the road. so the best way is to get a decent veteran qb via trade or free agency

by iBleedSnB on Oct 25, 2009 3:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh,

I agree with you on that!

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:36 PM PDT up reply actions

I like the idea of getting an experience QB. Maybe we can beg Garcia back or bring on Vick(lol)

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:38 PM PDT up reply actions

I didn’t think JaMarcus was a wasted draft pick at the time. It’s his work ethic, laziness, and attitude that’s got everyone calling for his head or at least I’m not happy because of those things.

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

and with a different coach

each year, there’s nobody to consistantly keep a fire lit underneath his ass

Al is not in George’s league especially with a cap

by Walker Wallace on Oct 25, 2009 3:32 PM PDT reply actions

How do you mean that?

George learned to get out of the way.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Why??

He is just a very bad coach! He has been a loser everywhere he has been a head coach and putting him in charge the team is getting exactly what it deserves! Al wanted a puppet. That’s what he got…

I dont want to draft another QB

You guys might think im crazy but I think we should stick with Gradkowski. He is mobile, accurate and could make big plays

the one thing that has been seen

is JR has been up and in this game cheering the team on. I mean he really could have just decided to sit on the bench and sob about being taken out

That's true.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

hey, who knows

i know lots of guys were calling for him to be benched earlier in the season. this might get his ass in gear now seeing Gradko in there. that last drive was 80 yards even though we didn’t get any points.

I was one of those guys

And, I hope those are the results. I’m just starting to doubt Jamarcus love of the game and desire to win. He has to want to win more than big earrings, Rolls Royces and funky haircuts. So far he has shown only love for the last 3.

by Rusty23 on Oct 25, 2009 4:01 PM PDT up reply actions

this much to get him motivated.. why would you want anyone on your team that is so unmotivated???

Do you think...

…that as Al stares down at the field, he thinks he’s seeing Stabler, Branch, Casper, and each games ends with a Blanda FG for the win…in his delusion-fevered mind?

This franchise....

…is in a death spiral. You think it’s bad being a Detroit Lions fan? Detroit will win a Super Bowl before the Raiders become a competitive team again.

Al Davis, you were once a genius (about 30 years ago), and we thank you for the memories and past glories, and for your role in bringing success to the old AFL, but you have destroyed this franchise with your insistence upon a style of play that was in vogue in the 70s, and your stubborn insistence that everyone else is wrong, and only you are right. Please, someone in the Davis family, declare Al mentally incompetent and turn the Raiders over to someone else…anyone else.

I thought the same thing...

…when I heard JaM-R last week after the win against Philly. I don’t think I’d ever heard him interviewed before, and thought, “Is he just exhausted from the game? Or is he really this inarticulate?” Seems to me, you need someone at QB who’s a leader, and how can someone be a leader when they can’t even form a coherent sentence?

NO MORE

40 year fan of the RAIDERS and counting born and bred but for the first time I cant watch

by TRURAIDA on Oct 25, 2009 8:26 PM PDT reply actions

This is heresy, but....

…I started following the Raiders while in high school, in 1968. Got bit by the Heidi Bowl, and have been a Raiders fan ever since. But to be a fan requires an investment in heart and emotion (and usually money, if one is attending games, and buying paraphanalia), but the past couple of years, reached the point that I can’t take the horrible state of the Raiders any longer. Their abysmal performances the past 6 or so seasons do not permit me to continue to invest my heart and soul in this franchise. I’m getting older, and my heart can’t take it any longer. Every season I start out with hope that things will be better than the season before. And this year, I was encouraged by the effort against San Diego in Game 1 (Raiders were robbed in that one). But even with a win in Game 2, it was obvious that something was wrong. And by the time of the loss to the Giants, it was obvious this season was going into the dumper like the past 6.

I’ve slowly begun the migration to another team, one that will likely not win their division this season, but they at least put out a quality effort each week. With every Raider loss, I still die a little bit inside, and I’ve just reached the brutal determination that if the owner and organization (one and the same) have totally lost the ability to be a quality organization, I’m not expending another drop of emotion and devotion in the Raiders. I wish them the best, but I don’t think they will ever be a competitive team again until Al Davis, and all of his influence, is flushed from the organization. Considering his health, he’ll likely outlive me. There is no joy in following the Raiders, so why attempt it?

I can't decide if today's game was sad and pathetic

Tom Cable

Gawd, if only the NAPA DA could’ve been a Raiders fan. Tom Cable would’ve been arrested, sent to jail, locked up, and the key wou’ve been thrown away. Instead, he must’ve hated the Raiders and their fans, thus wanting to see it’s pathetic demise continue under his, laughable, so called, ‘leadership’. And, I use that term extremely loosely. He’s done nothing of the sort, at least in terms of leading them in the right direction. What a sorry excuse for a NFL head coach. That’s Tom Cable for you. Useless.

by Older_than_Moses_Shaq on Oct 25, 2009 9:27 PM PDT reply actions

by Rusty23 on Oct 26, 2009 5:06 AM PDT up reply actions

CABLE SAYS RUSSELL STILL THE STARTING QB

That is what is in the news right now…isn’t that wonderful? Russell will be starting Sunday against the Chargers! Good times! I wonder how many interceptions he will throw? How many fumbles will he have? How bad will the score be? We lost 38-0 today, maybe we could lose 52-0 this Sunday!

by K. Hall on Oct 26, 2009 12:17 AM PDT reply actions

Oh Yeah

He really contributed to your big win in Houston. Oh wait, you lost. To your point though, just who would complete a pass to him if the Raiders had drafted him?

by Rusty23 on Oct 26, 2009 5:08 AM PDT up reply actions

Scouting Dept.

Maybe if we had a scouting dept. like the rest of the teams have me might be able to get some quality players, DHB was picked before Crabtree and lets see… DHB has 4 receptions in 7 games and dropped a TD pass right in his hands and Crabtree has 5 receptions in one game, yep, we made the right pick!
