Protest at JRussell's Home?
Please join me for a protest at Jamarcus Russell's home to voice our disgust with his play. Three years and he can't throw a simple check down pass. He can't throw to wide open receivers. He doesn't put in enough work throughout the week.
I'm totally disgusted. If he is not getting the picture, then we should bring it to his front door.
Tell your friends, everyone can participate in this protest.

Time and Place
I think there’s a time and a place for everything and protesting in front of his house isn’t the place to do it.

+1 million RRS
It is not cool to go to a man’s home and do something like this.
At the end of the day you need to remember we’re talking about sports here not politics or issues of life and death.
If you don’t want to support JaMarcus Russell that’s fine. Boo him when he screws up or don’t go to the games or watch them on T.V. but something like this is way over the line.

its the coaches decision, not yours.
you don’t protest in front of a player’s house. that’s not right, AND you have no right to diminish a player’s feelings to influence your interests.

If you're gonna protest
do it in front of the Raiders headquarters.

Good Idea But?
Good idea, but the Raiders have already committed to the guy. If they now treat him harshly, then he’s going to rebel against his coaches. If fans treat him harshly (in a peaceful way, everyone seems to be getting the wrong idea), then he can go to his coaches and say, ‘hey, help me out, i need to get better so the fans can get off my back.’ From what I’ve read, he has a great QB coach, all he needs to do is work harder. It’s on him.
The pay checks will keep coming, so he may need more motivation. Looks like he showed up early this week, so we may already be headed in a positive direction.

so what if he rebels against his coaches?
Playing in the NFL is a job too. If you cause problems at your job or don’t do your work, you get fired. Benching could be the equivalent. He won’t get another contract like this again from any other team.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.
I understand all of the complaining. That’s cool. And protesting in front of the Coliseum, or wherever, that’s fine. It’s out in a public place. But going to an athlete’s house and stirring up trouble? That’s unbelievably over the line. Incredibly so.
And your dream, absolve.
And your path, dissolve.

The street is a public place, we are talking about a peaceful protest!
The house the car etc. paid for by fan dollars. Looks like the guy already is getting the message, (getting to work early Wed). The point of the protest is to communicate our disgust. The point is that if losing doesn’t change his work ethic, if getting booed doesn’t do anything, how are we going to communicate to him how we feel?
There is a line, and a picket or protest doesn’t cross it. We probably don’t need to do a full protest if things change, but it is good to know that some people care enough to take the message directly to JRussell. If we are going to change the culture in Raider land, then we as fans have to be accountable for our own apathy.

This post is the worst thing I’ve seen on an SBN blog since Rev Halofan published the address of the parents on the guy who killed Nick Adenhart on the front page of Halos Hell. Please delete this immediately. I’ve already flagged it.
And what’s worse, there are 18 fools (according to the poll) who agree with this. ARGH.
Hey Al, just go away, baby.

My thoughts exactly.
My first thought, after “Holy god, NO”, was the Rev Halofan thing. Guys, this is a sporting event. A game. JaMarcus isn’t out there steamrolling kitties on live TV.

Jamarcus is the victim in this whole situation as much as we fans are. He has no guidance, no receivers, no qualified head coach, nothing…and on top of all this he was never fit to start in the nfl without proper guidance and teaching. He shouldn’t have been starting until he was absolutely ready to start. So don’t blame Jamarcus for the fact that he’s not ready, blame Al Davis and the Raider organization for putting him in this position

Um
He has one of the best QB coaches out there! I can’t say that the organization is blameles but at what point is it “on him?” I’d say it is now. He puts no extra time in and doesn’t seem to care that he IS part of the problem. The Raiders organizational problem is that they (meanng AL) knew he was a project to begin with and they (meaning AL) ASSUMED (you know the funny phrase that goes with that word) that he would work hard to get better. He hasn’t and that’s all on him.

i say
get someone to sit down and talk to him on behalf of the nation
can anyone get into contact with him?
anyone at all?
just give him a phone call or schedule a sit down with him
either that or find his email or mailing address and leave him critical letters
not to bash him and make him geel like shit
just some respectful and constructive criticism ya know?

Protesting
I just thought of something. Instead of going to a house, youu could FedEx a letter to Al Davis. He might even read it aloud at a press conference.

This just goes over the line
Besides, the person to blame is NOT Jamarcus Russell. He acts like this because he is ALLOWED to act like this. The protest should be aimed at the person responsible, and as such should take place outside the stadium or training facility.
Another suggestion is a mass walk out at an arranged time during a game. The sight of everyone leaving at once can be very effective given the modern era’s obsession with mass media coverage of everything.

Wow! This sounds like a wonderfully effective idea.
Let’s go to his house and burn a lower case t in his yard! t for tolerance. We can even where white sheets with holes cut out for eyes and act like ghosts. He’s just a stupid richer. This will change everything!

Only an ignorant person would go to a private residence uninvited,
not to mention trying to organize a mob to do it. If this happened I would be forced to protest this protest!
If you are on his private property it is NOT PROTESTING it is ILLEGAL. I am not sure about the legalities of doing this in the street outside his property but I am pretty sure the city would not be ok with this.
Not too mention, with all the horrible wrongs going on in this world, I think it may suggest some misplaced priorities to protest an athlete.
To boo him, or not buy tickets or Raiders gear or even protest outside the Raiders facilities is one thing, but to go to his house, because he is not taking football seriously enough and think that it is something sane/responsible people should do is down right frightening and disturbing.

Street Protests Are Legal or Did you think we Live in Russia!
You must not be an American because you can’t tell the difference between a peaceful street protest and trespassing. In front of every home, is a SIDE WALK AND A STREET. Or are you too intelligent to understand that? What is the point of a protest if you do it somewhere conveniently avoidable.
by Sbay on Nov 1, 2009 9:56 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
You backbedal so fast you should take Chris Johnson's spot.
You said AT his home and then you said “bring it to his front door,” but kudos to you for realizing you should do it outside his property and that it should be peaceful.
I wasn’t saying that only a non peaceful protest at his house was a bad idea.
Also go ahead and block the street with a protest and tell me how that goes over— while the cops ask you to get out of the road.
In front of every home is a side walk… Really? hmm…
If the Raiders practice facility is conveniently avoidable for J-Russ than things are worse than anyone had thought.
Also, I did not say there was a point of holding a Russell protest, anywhere. You did. I was actually saying it seemed dumb to protest an athlete with all the horrible shit going on in the world. I was saying, that if you do insist on protesting Russell don’t be psychotic enough to do it at his house.
Maybe you could get him to go on an episode of Springer with you. I am sure you have it on speed dial.
If you want to carry on a debate, at least address the points raised (I didn’t say a the protest had to be violent to be a bad idea etc.) and do not use revisionist history. “Peaceful street protest” was nowhere to be found in your original post (which I still say would be a waste of time) and is much different than “at” someones house or "bringing it to someone’s door
Also, use things that are true when trying to make a point: Sidewalks and conveniently avoidable…Other than that, thank you for acknowledging I am too intelligent to understand you.
Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast.
