DARIUS HEYWARD BEY BEFORE HE WAS A RAIDER
THIS IS WHAT THE NFL COMMUNITY IN PARICULAR THE RAVENS THOUGHT OF DHB BEFORE HE WAS TAKEN 7TH OVERALL AND BECAME A RAIDER
http://www.baltimoreravens.com/News/Articles/2009/03/Heyward-Bey_Shines_at_Pro_Day.aspx
I WANT THIS KID TO SUCCEED AND EVERYONE NEEDS TO GIVE HIM A BREAK HE IS UNDER IMMMENSE PRESSURE NOT MANY ROOKIE WR'S START IN THE NFL AND ARE ASKED TO CARRY AN OFFENSE WITH ANOTHER ROOKIE AND A STRUGGLING QB HE WILL GET BETTER BECUZ HE IS A CLASS ACT AND HAS THE INTANGIBLES TO SUCCEED
I WANNA SEE GRADKOWSKI PLAY QB TO SEE IF DHB WILL DO ANY BETER I KNOW HE MISSED THE FADE IN THE ENDZONE BUT ONCE HE GETS HIS FIRST TD HE WILL RELAX
GOD DAMMIT I KNOW WE SUCK BUT THIS IS OUR TEAM AND IMAGINE WHAT UR LIFE WOULD BE LIKE WITHOUT THE RAIDERS...YEA THATS WHAT I THOUGHT PRETTY SHITTY NOW WE ARENT THE ONLY TEAM TO MISS ON DRAFT PICKS AND HAVE A QB STRUGGLE BUT WE ARE THE ONLY TEAM TO HAVE THE SAME FRONT OFFICE THROUGH ALL THE LOSING YEARS OTHER TEAMS HAVE TURNOVER AT THE TOP THAT LIMITS ACCOUNTABILITY FOR PAST MISTAKES ... JUST BE GRATEFUL UR TEAM IS ONE OF THE FEW TEAMS THAT HAVE 3 ... YES 3 SUPERBOWL WINS ... WE PLAYED VINCE LOMBARDI IN SUPER BOWL TWO AND THAT JUST A SMALL BIT OF OUR AWESOME HISTORY THATS AMAZING STUFF...JOHN MADDEN THE BEST HC OF ALL TIME COME ON WE ARE AWESOME... WE COULD LOSE FOR THE NEXT 7 YRS AND STILL HAVE WINNING RECORDS AGAINST MOST TEAMS

I feel your passion and share your ...
good wishes; we all should. Give me a reliable player, e.g. Fred Biletnikoff, Pete Banaszak, Todd Christenson. They were not statistical wonders but rock-steady, tough, reliable, fierce competitors. The proof is on the field. If Darius Bey does nothing else but catch the ball, and hang on to it when hit, he earns respect and helps; otherwise, he looses it and hurts.
Unfortunately, Bey’s destiny is tied now to JaCarcass. I haven’t noticed, does Bey wear the ostentatious feminine jewelry in the fashion others on the team now adorn themselves?

who called DHB a bust?
I know there was a post a while back, but I don’t think anyone is really calling DHB a bust yet.

Well for me it
makes it harder to read. There are ways of increasing the font using Fire Fox and IE. Better than making big block letters. If your eye sight is that bad, go see an optometrist.

It's too early to call
DHB a bust. It’s his rookie year and it’s not even complete, and his QB isn’t exactly the greatest.

it was inevitable though
since the raiders took him much higher than projected, and crabtree doing so well in his first game. its not fair, and its based on absolutely nothing, but its inevitable.
Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up!!

Crabtree
Also has played way longer than DHB who is a converted trackstar and crabtree played all his life. He has a low ceiling as a receiver while the sky is the limit for DHB.

As far as Ceilings are concerned
Crabtree played QB in HSchool and has played WR only two years at Texas Tech so his ceiling is pretty high too.

The, so called, Persian Immortals
wore jewelry, took blame and tried too, but 300 real men, Spartans, slaughtered thousands of them just the same at Thermopylae. As Herodotus reports.

Maybe,
if he catches the balls thrown to him people will let up. To become a “Champion” he will have to actually catch the ball so he’s going to have to work hard to improve in that area.
By the way, can you please stop with the ALL CAPS?
by Rusty23 on Oct 31, 2009 7:41 AM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I concur w/ the ball dropping
and we knew that when we drafted him, but he can improve on that. He also needs a QB to get the ball accurately to his hands.

Part of the problem for DHB
is the fact that the Raiders don’t really have any plays specifically designed to take advantage of the skills and athletisism he does have. Quick dumps or even some sort of wildcat play to take advantage of his speed and playmaking ability. Alot of his film from Maryland shows what he can do after the catch
by iBleedSnB on Oct 31, 2009 10:33 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
the raiders need route runners, and guys who can catch.
i’m not saying he’s a bust either, but, at the moment, he does not fit our system, and he needs to work on his hands and routes.

Too early to judge DHB
It is way too early to judge him, because for one we don’t have a system that can respectfully be called a legitimate system. The basic routes they have him running aren’t going to improve his route running he needs see game speed complex routes. As for the deep routes “Fatboy” can get it down field but can’t put it in a position to wear he an make a play. looking at the plays they run he might do better at the second or third receiver with his speed doing fast medium to short routes. It would tear linebackers and zone defenses up.
by Still-a-Raider on Oct 31, 2009 5:58 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
... short routes ...
are the only routes possible with this line. But the idea of sending 4.38 sec. receivers on slants through the LB zone is super exciting. The WR who survived the tactic would soon become famous. But Fatso seems incapable of reflexive release; also, this type of pass must be especially accurate … etc.

since this is russel's first year with DHB(who we all know he's a rookie),
developing chemistry is no easy task. especially when on a team who has been facing problems for years.

crabtree has been asked across the bay. In 2 games he’s been sufficiently better…. Thanks Al, you’re killing the raiders

Chemistry? Try physics
a receiver runs a pattern, the QB throws to the correct coordinate (taking his trajectory and speed into account) and the ball is caught. It’s physics. If by chemistry you’ mean timing, then know that that’s also physics. If by chemistry you mean psychological bonding betwixt the pair, then consider leaving the Nation … we’re trying to raise warriors not coddled pussies.

You understand that using the word chemistry
isn’t like test tubes and petri dishes. Do have that ability to work together very closely and sometimes just knowing what the other person is going to do is chemistry.

amoeba-like blob
This jargon doesn’t apply, this so called chemistry is bullshit. Good pass/receiving teams practice hard and developed timing by repetition. By all accounts, the blob does not practice much so HaywardBay doesn’t get as much practice as he should.
Consider, Drew Brees who throws to seven different receivers – does he have ‘chemistry’ with each of them? No, he practices with professionals who run good patterns and usually catch the ball, and he studies and reads defenses, finds and hits open receivers. But, if it makes you feel better, he is a catalyst as leader and solvent for blitzes.

Yes he does have chemistry w/ them
that’s the timing and knowing where they are and trusting them to be there and having an effective offense. That entire team has chemistry. Able to trust each other and count on each other and be in sync with each other.
