MY FIRST POST

So, this is my first attempt at a blog about my beloved Raiders. Let me first say that I love this team. I celebrated when they crushed the Redskins in Super Bowl XVIII. I watched in disbelief at the farce known as the "Tuck Rule Game". I laughed when Jon Gruden got "traded" to Tampa. The list goes on and on.

Mismanagement of drafts and free agents are directly responsible for the state of the Raiders as we know it. Russell shows up at training camp weighing 275 pounds. McFadden has a fumble problem. Heyward-Bey has world class speed but can t seem to remember that his FIRST responsibility is to CATCH THE BALL.

Does anyone remember Randy Moss in a Raiders uniform? There weren t any spectacular catches, laying out for the ball, etc. He was a non-factor. Warren Sapp? Same story. LaMont Jordan? ditto. They took the money, talked about how they always wanted to wear the Silver and Black, and then did NOTHING.

My point is this: An overhaul of the scouting department and the front office has to happen before anything changes with this team. All of us know deep in our hearts that this will not happen as long as Davis has control of the team, but we can dream, can t we?? I refuse to find another team. I am too old and set in my ways. Also, I have too many Raiders jerseys. I will continue to wear the Silver and Black, take the ball-busting that comes with it these days, and look to the future. One day, our Nation will rise again. The question is, will any of us fans who actually remember the glory years be alive when it happens.
