Report: Cable to be fired at season's end
From Profootballtalk....
In a column for Yahoo! Sports called "Direct Snap" (which apparently is the Internet version of the Wildcat formation), Jason Cole buries the lead.
All the way to the bottom of the column.
Cole reports that the Raiders are cooperating with the league's investigation regarding coach Tom Cable because owner Al Davis wants to fire Cable after the season "with cause." This would permit the Raiders to refrain from paying Cable beyond the current season.
Frankly, we think Davis already has enough ammunition to fire Cable "with cause." (And not just "'cause" he's a bad coach.) In an August meeting with four of his subordinate employees, one of them left the room with a broken jaw. In most American workplaces, the guy who laid hands on the guy who fractured his face gets fired "with cause," even if the injury was technically an accident and even if there were no criminal charges filed or pursued.
So, who's up for some Chucky?

Here is the direct quote from the article:
• Some people expressed surprise at a report Sunday by ESPN that the Raiders are actually cooperating with the NFL in the investigation/evaluation of coach Tom Cable. Don’t be surprised. The reason, a source familiar with the case said, is that Oakland owner Al Davis is hoping to gather enough information to fire Cable with cause at the end of the season so that Davis doesn’t have to pay Cable.
So ESPN reported Sunday the team is cooperating. Because it would only make sense if they DIDN’T. Right? I mean why should they cooperate and try to get to the bottom of the situation or anything. And then we have a source familiar with the case. We don’t know the source. Or how reliable. Just that it’s a source familiar with the case. The entire media and the fans are familiar with the case by now. Even if he’s fired for cause, he could probably win a grievance because if it truly were for giving a bad image to the Raiders he’d be fired now. If he Davis waits, then he’s saying it’s okay as long as it benefits the team, therefore he should theoretically have grounds for a grievance. And I’m pretty sure his contract is up after this year any way. So really it just means he won’t get an extension.

YAY!!!
Another rebuilding year. I can’t wait for the next season to come with a different coach starting the season for the third or fourth straight year. (Sarcasm)

Who wouldn't want Chucky?
I mean he gets along so well with our dipshit owner right? Chucky can kiss my ass… besides there is NO WAY he returns to the Raiders. Cowher would be nice, but again.. no way he comes to Oakland. We are fucked until Davis dies.

For once
I’ll have to agree with you.
No one should forget what Davis did in the past even if he’s stuck there.

I like how you say it
But even ESPN will get off their high horses and do an hour long special on Al and the Raiders. If they don’t, Im protesting.

no way they wouldn't
even if he’s running us into the ground NOW, he was a great coach, owner, GM, etc. Hell without him the AFL and NFL probably would’ve never merged.

Well he lost that one
He was against the merger.but you’re right about the rest of the stuff. There is no denying Al Davis’ legacy. It would just be a shame to see that all he’s remembered for by the media would be the current state of the Raiders now.

BRING BACK MADDEN
EITHER AS A COACH OR AS THE OWNER OF THE TEAM. MADDEN WOULD BE PERFECT AND HE COULD BRING THE RAIDERS BACK TO DOMINATION.

WE DIFFENTLY NEED A NEW COACH.
MY CHOICES ARE 1. BILL COWHER 2. HOWIE LONG 3. DENNIS GREEN 4. BILL BELICK

None of them would come there.
And it’s mostly cuz you use CAPS instead of being a normal person and using proper blog etiquette.

New Options For HC
1. Frank Spaziani 2. Dennis Green 3. Bill Bilick 4. Howie Long 5. Bill Romanowski

Well I'm sure Dennis Green
will be mentioned again. Billick and Long won’t come here. I don’t think Long wants to coach. I don’t know the other 2 names and don’t feel like wiking it

The other 2 names...
Frank Spaziani, He is the head coach at Boston College..A strict, mean and rather succesful coach. And Bill Romanoski is a former Raider, Bronco and 49’r All Pro LineBacker. I think he currently does the Raiders Post game show.

I don't think any proven coach will come until we have a GM
But, my wish list would be Cowher, Belick, Chucky, or Jack DelRio

Well Cowher could pull it off
as GM too…
Some coaches can wear both hats.

never thought about Howie
but I could see him being subservient to Al while still enforcing his will on the team.

Comes down to the contract
If the next coach sets out some definite terms about his role and prerogatives then Al could do nothing (but fume).

Probably not.
Maybe, with Al coming unglued, some coaches lawyer might outwit Davis and get some freedom for his client.
