Second Season Predictions

One game into the second season, the Oakland Raiders are 0-1. With a very ugly loss to the poor playing Kansas City Chiefs. The game showed that Michael Bush deserves a majority of the carries, Penalties are still plaguing the Raiders and JaMarcus Russell may have taken his last snaps as a starter. With the remaining schedule, it is very likely that we may end up a 13 loss team. But, the outcome of the second season all depends on if Bruce Gradkowski becomes starter and how well he performs in my opinion. Here are my predictions based on the QB situation.

  Second Season with JaMarcus Russell

General

Record: 1-7

Division: Last

Tom Cable: Fired

Offensive

Game Averages

PTS: 12

YDS: 210

PASS YDS: 170

RUSH YDS: 150

Second Season with Bruce Gradkowski

General

Record: 4-4

Division: 3rd

Tom Cable: Employed

Offensive

Game Averages

PTS: 25

YDS: 260

PASS YDS: 195

RUSH YDS: 186

I sure hope that Bruce Gradkowski is starting. Its the difference between a 3-13 or 6-10 record. Neither is acceptable, but 6-10 is lot more respectable. Its not a playoff berth or anything, but its a step in the right direction. I may be reaching at predicting 4-3 to finish, but all 4 of those wins come in the last 4 games of the season. Let me know what you think.

Second Half Predictions

I think we’ll go 2-5 in the remaining games to finish the season with a 4-12 record. Tom Cable will get fired. Al Davis will continue to rule his kingdom. The offense should see a tiny boost with the ground game going once again thanks mostly to a healthy Robert Gallery. I hope Chaz Schilens plays well because it doesn’t look like Darrius Heyward-Bey will. Maybe we’ll see some improvement out of Louis Murphy as well, but I just don’t know.

4-4 Because

I beleive we can beat the Ravens, Redskins, Browns and Broncos. But, this all depends on the fact that the offense molds together and the Defense creates turn overs. As long as Bruce doesnt fumble and throw Ints. I see atleast 2 very winnable games with 2 very possible upsets

Bruce Gradkowski

How exactly are you coming up with the 25 points a game number? In 11 career starts Gradkowski led his team to 25 points once.

Gradkowski has a career 3-8 record and career QB rating that at 58.7 is lower than Russell’s 65.5.

I’m not saying the Raiders shouldn’t give him a shot but there is nothing in his past performance to suggest he’ll play better than Russell.

He can manage the offense better.

Why?

I’m not saying he can’t but why do you believe he can? He hasn’t shown any ability in the past to play better than Russell has so why do you have this belief?

by sirbed on Nov 17, 2009 11:18 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

He doesnt

Need to play like Tom Brady..He just needs to keep the Run Game in sync.

in limited opportunities this season he has completed 56.7% of passes

thats good enough for me.

11 Career Starts...

Those were in his Rookie year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This Raider team is alot better than the 2006 Bucs

How is this Raider team better?

The Raiders are on a pace to go 4-12 just like that Tampa Bay Buccaneers team and are at or near the bottom in most offensive catagories just like 2006 Bucs.

If you think these Raiders are “a lot better” I would ask in what way as the stats show the teams to be very similar.

We have a dominating running game

Our running game can control the game…We have a playoff caliber Defense. (At Times)
Im just saying that JaMarcus was holding us back,

by Remix. on Nov 17, 2009 4:46 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Well we agree that JaMarcus isn't helping things

but the Raiders are 20th in rushing yards and rank 22nd in yard per attempt so I’m not sure how you can say they have a dominant running game.

The Raiders are running the ball at 3.9 yards per rush and as a comparison the 2006 Bucs ran it a 3.8 yards per rush which isn’t much of a difference.

Listen I want the Raiders to win so I hope your optimsim about Gradkowski right but so far I don’t see any facts or stats that lead me to believe he’ll do much better than Russell.

No problem

the rest of the comment was coherent. We all make mistakes, it’s the people that don’t even TRY that irritate me.

The Run game is dominate

But, when the drive is killed by a JaMarcus throwin an Int or fumbling the ball whenver sacked. I probably am being optomistic but if the Offense molds and Bruce manages the game like I predict, I can see this team having a very succesful “Second” Season

Well I hope you're right Remix

but I’m not feeling to good about things right now.

by sirbed on Nov 17, 2009 9:22 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Well...

Oakland hasnt given us much reasons to feel good.

by Remix. on Nov 17, 2009 10:27 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

The problem, I feel,

right now is that the teams we play know we can’t pass w/ Russell so they stack the box and kill our run too. I agree we’re not dominant, but I think we CAN have a dominant game. The run opens the pass and the pass opens the run.

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!

If Bruce is out...

Just appy most of these stats to Charlie Frye. Im just trying to say that anything is better than JaMarcus Russell. But, I hope Bruce is fine
