Thanksgiving Day
We have the afternoon game on CBS. The Packers-Lions game is the morning game on Fox, our game is the afternoon game on CBS and the night cap is the Giants-Broncos game on NFL Network.

Bruce Gradkowski
Here’s a link about him starting.
Bruce Gradkowski will replace JaMarcus Russell as the Oakland Raiders starting quarterback, coach Tom Cable said following practice.
Gradkowski will start Sunday when the Raiders host the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cable said the plan is for Gradkowski to start the rest of the season. Russell has been benched in favor of Gradkowski in two of the past three games.

I'm surprised to see that Cable is talking about starting Gradkowski the rest of the season
I guess it’s to not put too much pressure on him for his first start but it’s hard to see how Gradkowski is the long term answer at quarterback (hope I’m wrong).
Has anyone heard if Russell will be the backup or will they put him down to 3rd string? I guess the more important question has to be is this the end of the JaMarcus Russell era in Oakland?

I am a Browns fan stationed at Travis AFB. Seeing how the Raiders are going to start Gradkowski over Russell i feel i need to say something. Bruce was in cleveland last year and replaced 3 injured QBs. He had a passer rating of 2.8. He is not the answer over Russell. I think the better option would be Charlie Frye. He has starter experience, he was drafted and started for the Browns, and is a much better QB than Gradkowski. He would not be a long term fix but he could get you through the rest of the season.

You couldn't take the time to
summarize an article into 75 words? You had to put gibberish in instead? And you post was mostly you can’t find the game for Thanksgiving. Going here would tell you where the game is being played and at what time and what station. Imagine that.

Yeah
I do like to take my time and make a decent post but I was in a rush and just wanted to let everyone know about the news. I went to Raiders.com and looked at the season schedule but I have dish and CBS is not called CBS it is called KOVR so that’s what threw me off.
Wake me up if we win

Great News!
And clear proof that Cable, and possibly Al, have been reading the blogs on this sight (at least mine). I am warming to Tom and wish No. 5 all the best. A tough opponent to start him but, as someone pointed out, the C-B’s are coming off a big win and, like Phili, may come in here expecting to cruise.

Don't fool yourself
Al Davis doesn’t give a shit what anyone else says. Not the media, not the rest of the league, and certainly not the fans. He won’t give up on Russell until Russell proves beyond any doubt whatsoever that he’s not an NFL qb.

Cable's on the field and in front of the press
What’s Al gonna do? Hah! Everyone seems so intimidated by the decrepit man. Puh! Tom probably doesn’t have long and he’s showing the people who might be interviewing him for a coaching job how he can be.

Maybe,
but he does care about his team winning… and even he can see that JRuss is not the answer at this time. Hence his willingness to let Cable change the QB.

This suggests Al is sane
odds are Cable is doing it against Al’s mandate, for he knows his time is short.

Good luck, guys!
Charger fan here, done being a Raider-hater until next year! I hope you break out of your funk, BEAT CINCY, find a way to get 6+ wins, and at least do better with Bruce than with JaMarcus! Oh, and BEAT CINCY! And if you can’t beat ’em, hurt ’em!

I'll go one better.
I hope the Raiders beat the Broncos as well! Of course, I hope they kick the Charger’s asses next year.

Finally, the Raiders take at least one step in the right direction. I now have a reason to watch the games, as I want to see if the change will help. All the Raiders need is a quarterback with average ability, and they will improve quite a bit.
Don’t expect things to change overnight, though. Gradkowski will need some time to get used to his starting role.
Now, if Al will allow Cable to call his own plays on the field, then things may really start to turn around.
Could it be that all those empty seats at the stadium finally got noticed?

if he can continue completing 56% ill be happy
lets remember this is still Bruce Gradkowski I just hope he gives the receivers a chance to make plays, whether they actually make any plays is another story.
All in all I like the change and the energy Bruce brings when he is on the field, it actually looks like is hustling and playing with a little emotion and heart which will undoubtabley rub off on the rest of the team and they might play with some spark like Bruce does.
