Javon Walker Wants To Be Released

Javon Walker wants to be released by the Oakland Raiders.

Javon has been injury prone since being a Raider and he feels he's just an after thought right now.

I agree that he's being under used. I think he should be put in instead of DHB. Imagine if Walker went for that catch in the KC game. Could things have been different with experienced hands?

This is some of the places I think that our coaches really mess up. And I'm not sure if it's Cable that doesn't want to activate him or of Davis is upset with him because he had that secret knee surgery during the off season. Javon insists he can play:

"(Releasing me) would be nice," Walker, an eight-year veteran, told the newspaper earlier this week. "It's not that I can't play. I can play. From everyone who sees me at practice, I still got it going on."

In his career, the former Florida State product has 267 receptions for 4,011 yards with 31 touchdowns.

Oakland owes Walker 4.6 million through 2010.

He's in the Dog House....

….with Cable, and maybe Davis. He may show up game to game, he may vanish beneath the waves, never to be seen again. I’d like to see him at least give it a shot: what do we have to lose? if we just release him then we might as well have done it in the pre-season and added Marvin Harrison to the roster spot – at least we’d have some production.

Its obviously time to end this experiment.

No reason to put in Javon Walker now, let the young guys get reps now.

I would release him

even though he hasn’t been playing other than the vegas incident he really has been a team player and not been a distraction or anything he even offered to give back money after the incident last year.

I think other than play like crap in the limited chances he got last year I think he has done the right thing by us and deserves a chance to find a team that will play him, the only problem is that his salary for next year is guaranteed as part of the terms of his re-negotiation (another thing he didn’t have to do) but if its uncapped next season who cares right?

"Mel Kiper has his opinion and I respect it. But what does it mean? My 9-year-old nephew can watch film and make an opinion. I think I value the opinion of scouts who get paid to make their opinions. It will carry me through my career. It will serve as motivation for me." - Mike Mitchell

He provides depth

Depth, and a veteran that can mimmick the opponents top receiver on the scout team. The Raiders would be fools to let him go in the middle of the season.

Depth

He doesn’t provide that considering he’s the fifth wide receiver on the team and I haven’t even seen Todd Watkins in at least a month. It goes Schilens, Heyward-Bey, Murphy, Watkins and then Walker. Walker has been inactive more times than he has been active.

Heyward-Bey

will never be a quality receiver in the NFL. He is a typical Al Davis crapshoot pick with tons of speed, who can get open on a regular basis, but can’t catch the freakin ball. We took a risk at #7 where we didn’t need to and it pisses me off!

You might be right

But he hauled one in last week when it really counted – and clutch plays count more than others; so Bey has shown potential to catch. He also is trying hard. Let’s see what develops today and v Steelers.

WHO????

What has he done for us and why do we care.Cut him today, tomorrow, next week , just another one of Al’s scholarship players who looks great in a uniform but no desire to get it done.We need more wideouts like Chaz and Murphy.

i dont blame him

hes healthy and he hasn’t got the chance to play. Just release the guy if you don’t think hes any good and they’re obviously not gonna play him any time soon.
