Jim Harbaugh for HC of the Raiders in 2010
What does everyone think about Jim Harbaugh coming back to the Raiders next year and installing the kind of offense we all thought we were gonna run this year a smash mouth run the ball 40 times team thats is big, physical and tough. I just watched the Stanford-Notre Dame game last night and was so impressed with Toby Gerhart and the style of play that Stanford was built around. I would love to draft Gerhat (second/ third round) bring in Harbaugh and with a few new linemen we could remake our team from a ZBS running game to a power running game with a lot of iso lead plays with double tight end sets and a full back on the field. Thats the kinda teams i love. Sprinkle in play action pass to get chunks of yards with the pass it can be succesful if u have the right players.
Also Andrew Luck is gonna be a star in the NFL he is a redshirt freshman this year at Stanford and he looked great last night in two or three more years he should be a first round pick and i would love to build a team like i stated above and then draft him to run that kind of offense just my thoughts on bringing Stanfords type of offense to Oakland giving us an identity a smash mouth team who plays for field position keeping the TOP in our favor and running the ball physically and beating up other teams. Thats what Oakland needs an identity we have that on defense we play man press coverage for better or worse but our offense is not consistent in its approach and i blame Cable for that his playcalling is suspect

Stanford
Let’s not pump them up so much, huh?
I would love to draft Gerhat (second/ third round) …
We have three running backs better than Toby Gerhart. If we draft him, I’ll be insanely pissed off.
Also Andrew Luck is gonna be a star in the NFL he is a redshirt freshman this year at Stanford and he looked great …
I think he has a bright future in the college game, but let’s not call him Peyton Manning just yet. He better have done great against Notre Dame. Their defense is awful. Luck gets a ton of pressure taken off of him with an incredible run game. He was terrible against Washington State (the worst team in the Pac-10 and arguably in the FBS), Washington (not even a bowl eligible team) and California (the biggest game of the year). I don’t doubt that he has a bright future in the college, but it’s too early to tell what kind of a pro prospect he is.
I don’t want to recreate Stanford here in Oakland with Jim Harbaugh, Toby Gerhart and Andrew Luck. We don’t need Gerhart and may not even need Luck by the time he declares, which probably won’t be until 2012. I think it’s a dumb idea. Also, I don’t think Harbaugh is going to leave his job at Stanford to come to the professional ranks. If he does leave Stanford, it’ll be to go to Notre Dame. Even then, I don’t see him leaving. He has done a really good job of turning around Stanford quickly with a 6-3 conference record and an 8-4 record overall.

Toby Gerhart is a monster
And in my opinion is better than Darren Mcfadden..Alot better. And I agree with maybe bringing in Harbaugh…It depends if Cable turns this year around though. We have three winnable games left. And I think RRS is a Cal fan right? lol. Would you be happy with Javed Best coming in?

Gerhart
I don’t think he is better than McFadden. What is that based on? McFadden was better in college. Gerhart is strong, but he doesn’t have top-end speed. He’ll be slower than pretty much every linebacker and some defensive ends. Defenders tackle better in the NFL. He can’t run over everyone.
And no, I wouldn’t happy if we drafted Jahvid Best even as a Cal fan. I don’t want a fourth running back.

Well...
Im pretty sure Gerhart is already getting heisman mentions after about 4-5 dominant games. Both Jahvid Best and Tony Gerhart have a bright future in my mind. But I got money Tony will be the more succesful Pro.

Gerhart
Gerhart can have his dominant games. Jahvid Best averaged more yards per carry than he did. Best is the better receiver.
Gerhart won’t win the Heisman and anyone that think he deserves to win it is stupid. There are candidates more deserving. For example, Colt McCoy’s stats are amazing and his team is undefeated.

Im not saying...
That he deserves to win..In my mind Colt has the Hiesman rapped up, but after the Stanford vs. USC game. Toby was thrown in the convorsation.

I heard some teams are interested in Charlie Weis as Offensive Coordinator. I wonder if the Raiders were one of the teams interested.

Charlie Weis
I’d love to bring him in as the offensive coordinator. If people have watched college football this season, they’d know that Notre Dame’s struggles can’t be blamed on the offense. Despite injuries, they’ve been able to put up points and engineer comebacks led by top-tier quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Let’s not forget aobut Weis’ success as an offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots at the NFL level. He can run an offense in any situation.

Why not just hire him as HC?
Not like others are lining up for the position.
Heard rumour Al was trying to sell 10% of the team. If that’s the case why not give a small portion to a stud HC and let them try and turn the ship
by Bud Light on Nov 29, 2009 6:40 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
Another 10%?
Jeez, he already sold off 10% a couple years ago. He spent that money on DeAngeo Hall, Gibril Wilson and Javon Walker. ooops.

I think Al missed out on Cable
According to Tim Kawakami, Al orginally only saw Cable as an interim and had designs on Harbaugh who apparently was willing to take the job, but the strong finish last year made Al decide to stick with Cable. Now Harbaugh is a hot name who could get a much better job if he wanted.

OK, S-O-B
Why exactly would Harbaugh come here only to be undercut by his boss? When do you start blaming Al, the real problem?

The challenge might bring him
The prestige of coaching an NFL team and bringing it back to glory. If Al respects a coach he loosens the reigns. Cable doesn’t deserve it, obviously, and hasn’t the guts to usurp it by overriding decisions he believes wrong.

Do you seriously believe that this ancient man micromanages this team?
Or that he has assembled such deficient personnel as to render success impossible? Consider what Gruden and other talented coaches accomplished under the same GM.
But, for giving an unqualified line coach the HC job, Al must be held responsible. I expect him to remedy this mistake soon.

Let's try to get Leslie Fraizer
Great pedigree: 1985 Bear’s Defense (greatest D of all time) then very effective D coordinator with MN and assistant head coach. He’s tough, intelligent, and wants to be a HC. I want him to come and help us win! Al would like him too.

First off autumn wind I think your an idiot for thinking Harbaugh would even want to come to the Silver and Black. We are more likely to get Jim Fassel from the UFL. Tell me why he would even consider leaving Standford? The program he built back up to go to the cellar of our Raiders. No BIG NAME COACHES want to come to OAKLAND. Look who is our coach now Tom Cable a former offensive line coach and before him was Lane Kiffin. I made my point or should I add Art Shell in there too!
Also, saying we should draft Toby is dumb. Why so we can have 4 RB. Bush is a beast and Fargas is sick. D-Mac is over rated and hasn’t lived up to expectations. Even if we had the best RB in the league we still wouldn’t have a 1000 yd rusher.
Our line sucks! Gallery is a bust with a number 1 pick, Jamarcus mega bust, bigger than drafting Ryan Leaf, and DHB sucks try catching the ball with your hands not your body.
BRING BACK CHUCKY he’ll light a fire under everyones ass. But I doubt he wants to be back in Oakland.

i wanna trade both bush and mcfadden and start fargas
… i also wanted to trade Nnamdi and start garcia but those are just my ideas and i dont expect everyone to agree with me the thing is is that we are losing and most people have ideas of how to fix it that i guess is the fun part of the NFL whether u win or lse but weve been down long enuf so whoever we can get to turn this around is a plus in my book

I don't know about trading Bush
And I don’t think it’s fair he got “demoted” for his fumble, especially after how long we put up w/ Russell. He’s a good running back. I do agree with unloading McFadden though. I think McFadden could give up a 3rd round pick. Or even an o-line player possibly if someone is desperate enough.

Before parting ways with mcfadden
we should try working him into the receiver corps. He’s really exceptional with some open space and has okay hands. If he continues to disappoint, then trade him for a powerful seasoned offensive tackle or MLB. In fact, do that now. Screw it.

THe problem is we've had too long
to start something new. And by that I mean we should try to trade him while he still has some value.

Gallery was used in the wrong position.
Now at Guard he’s doing great. By my definition I don’t call him a bust. I blame that on the coaches for not seeing he was in the wrong position and moving him earlier. I agree with DHB having to work on the dropping problem, but it’s only his rookie year. That is something he should work on during the off season, and I’m sure he will.
I keep going back and forth on Tom Cable as a head coach due to the fact he works for Al Davis. But some, well most, of his play calling is bewildering. I think he could be an okay head coach if that was his only title. But he’s wearing to many hats. If he isn’t the HC next year, he should go back to the o-line. The o-line last year was decent(?) until he became HC and o-line coach and I just don’t think he can multi-task very well. I also, and I know I’ll get flamed of this but oh well, Kiffin is a good head coach that got in deeper than he thought. He should have curbed his mouth, but I think he could have been on the way to getting the Raiders back on track. Chucky would possibly come back if asked. I never heard of him say anything ill about Davis, but his departure was a trade, so I’m sure he wanted out. But I wouldn’t expect Davis to swallow his pride.

Lane Kiffin
I agree…He knew he what he was doing, he was smart, and mentored by some of the best in the NFL and College. He was under Pete Carrol and Norm Chow. And his dad was maybe the greatest Defensive Coach to live.
by Remix. on Dec 1, 2009 5:34 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Though I agree he was probably not the answer for the long term for us
Lane was every bit as qualified and as good as Cable. And he wanted to start anyone but Jamarcus. Monte is arguably one of the best defensive minds in the game. Dungy got a lot of credit for what Monte built, and Jon Gruden was the benefactor of the personnel.
Ironic, isn’t it, that many of the guys we talk about now, parted ways because of Al’s dementia? True, Lane overstepped the boundaries, especially considering he was working for Al.
I definitely agree Tom has proven unable to do it all as head coach. How much of that is because he’s working for Al I don’t know.
It’s hard to imagine anyone having success but Bruce Allen and Jon Gruden. Thats what’s painful: what little hope we have is mired by the fact we’ll still be plagued by the problems that cause our current problems. Al as GM, and unqualified guys as coaches aren’t getting it done. We need a big name coach, who brings in a GM or gets one proven successful with many organizations.

No winning coach
Is going to come to the Raiders without some indication that they can make changes. I don’t believe that Al is willing to do that for anyone. He hasn’t been able to swallow his pride for any coach that’s stood up to him in the last 15 years, so why would anyone with any level of NFL coaching respect even think about coaching the Raiders. Kiffin tried to at least let people know the choices being made weren’t his and look where that got him. I think there are a lot of potential coaches out there that could do a lot with this team, but without being able to make 80 to 90% of the day to day decisions for the team, it just won’t work.

"Our future?"
Al is forced to sell interests in the team, bit by bit, and some ask us to patiently wait for another young promising player to develop. But, we don’t have that time! There are obvious weaknesses on the team that need immediate fixing. If McFadden must make the ultimate sacrifice, i.e. be traded for someone who can help the Raiders more than he can, then so be it.

lets trade them both and draft either someone that is a better fit in a ZBS or go with a power runnin game with iso leads and man to man blocking either way i wanna run the ball effectivley and bush and mcfadden arent getting it done … i dont think bush is a great one cut runner thats the ZBS in a nutshell u have to have patience to wait for that crease and then hit the hole hard i think he is a more power back that would excell in a man to man scheme

are doing this well with the line we have. (which is slightly better at run blocking than than pass blocking.)
