Dwaine Board

With Tom Cable in the hot seat, there is a great chance that he will be fired. Al Davis fired Lane Kiffin during last years bye week so don't be suprised if he does the same this year. If Tom is fired then Al would most likely appoint an interim head coach. Just like last year. But, this year I hope he makes a decent choice. I hopes he appoints veteran Defensive Coach Dwaine Board.

Dwaine Board has coached in the league for 19 seasons now. He is a brilliant Defensive LIne coach with plenty of expeirence. He has sent 10 players to the Pro Bowl and coached 1 Defensive Player of the Year. Dwaine has proved his worth in the NFL, unlike Tom Cable.

Defensive Coaches have proved to be great Head Coaches in the Past. Bill Belichick was a Defensive Coach in the beggining. As was Bill Cowher and Tony Dungy. All three have at least 1 SuperBowl ring. All three are future Hall of Fame inductee's.

What do you think? Should Tom Cable even be fired? Will He be fired? And if he is then would Dwaine be a good or bad idea? Or is there someone you think deserves it more? Will this be a paragraph consisted of only questions? Leave your questions and comments.haha

There is NO way he will be fired for this

The Raiders are just saying they will look into it and take it seriously etc so it shows that are anti domestic violence etc. This whole thing seems like nothing but a witch hunt to me and another terrible example of the media beating up negativity about the Raiders and this is a particularly low blow and I feel very sorry for Cable.

An incident from 20 years ago and an uncorroborated claim with no charges – GIVE ME A BREAK! I could claim that Remix assaulted me and if he played for the Raiders ESPN would do an investigation and a half an hour special. This story is so flimsy and it makes me sick that they would do that to someone

And where is the investigation and behind the lines special on Shawne Merrimen and Ben Roethlesberger

those incidents were THIS YEAR and everybody laughs it off like ‘that bitch is crazy’ but once again the Raider gets reported as guilty and Cable gets crucified

I don't want him fired

because the coaches and players support him so much, they really love this guy.

But I’d like to see a reduced role for him. Let Todd Haley call plays instead. Haley has coached very successful offenses and I’d like to see what he can do for us calling the plays.

At the most, I’d like to see Cable stay as O-Line coach. If he’s no longer the head coach, he’ll still maintain this job. I can almost guarantee it. O-Line Coach of the Year two years ago who could have very well won it last year if not made interim head coach. Davis still likes Cable because he’s done nothing wrong to Davis personally, thus I think he’ll stay no matter what the outcome is. it just depends what role he’ll play.

I agree except

Haley is already HC for chiefs.

we don't have one.

I think that’s part of Cable’s problem. He’s wearing HC, OC, and O-line coach hat.

no there's a guy in charge of the passing game

they specifically called him the passing game coordinator (which we all know Davis is really doing that).

Cable isn’t the O-Line coach either, he hired the guy who was the O-Line coach at Cal.

HAHA..

I love the comment Ozraider…But with a 2-6 record Al and his “Just Win Baby” attitude can do some unpredictable things at time. Id hate to see Tom go as well. Im just saying hes not the most qualyified person. For some reason the Players do love this guy. But I do hate men who hit women.I don’t know if its a recent occurance but it a lowley thing to do. But I am on Cables side. Only because ESPN blew this out of preportion

by Remix. on Nov 3, 2009 5:09 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah I dont mean to make lite of violence against women as it is never acceptable.

I think Cable is the most qualified just for the fact in our situation if you don’t have a coach the players will play hard for you end up 0-16 or something terrible. They have shown that they are a good team they just need to learn how to perform at a high level every week, we beat the Eagles and Pushed the Chargers with arguably our 4 best offensive players out, we have had some shockers as well obviously but they are so young on offence and have had key injuries on the O-Line and at WR and no real depth to cover it.
I think Cable has made progress with this team.

I like Cable as head coach

I think he got lucky getting a HC job at this level, but he isnt doing that bad for what he has to deal with. Injuries, Incompetent QB, Young Offense, Crazy Owner. Im just saying his past has come up in a bad situation and in the case of his depromotion or firing, Dwaine Board would be an exceptional step in. But, I hope Cable does lose his job. Like KA1ZER said, the players do rally around him. And thats something Oakland hasn’t had in a while.

by Remix. on Nov 3, 2009 5:54 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

yes yes yes!

Listen, any coach who is willing to be an Al Davis puppet is not going succeed as head coach of the oakland raiders. Why is everyone so against firing Tom Cable? He’s backing Jamarcus as the unquestioned starter! I know people are going to say “give the guy some time, he can turn things around”…the problem is deeper than head coach and Cable doesn’t have the backbone to address those problems, and he’s not qualified to be head coach. He’s an offensive line coach, plain and simple…if everyone is so against firing him, then demote him.

i think that's what the majority of us think

is to demote him back to O-Line coach where he shines

I think that with the statement that the Raiders released

in regards to these allegations, they have set themselves up to be able to allow them to fire him and get out of paying him the remainder of his money on his contract. Because now if they basically find “something” they can say in some way it is a violation of his contract. How exactly? I really don’t know, but they kinda put him out on front street by saying they have fired coaches in the past for similar findings. So I would have to agree and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was gone before the next game against the Chiefs. What better way to get a team and its fans feeling like you’re making moves to get back on the right track than to fire a coach who it appears hasn’t brought you much success on the field this year and has been nothing but bad news and a black eye for this organization off the field.
At this point in time I’m not really sure if I’d like Cable to be fired or to remain the coach. All this personal shit bears no weight on my decision whether he’s done a good job or not as a coach.
With his history as a head coach, (11-35 @ University of Idaho in 4 seasons) the Oakland Raiders is probably the only place he would be given a shot at even being a head coach. So you really can’t blame him for being Al’s puppet. Cable knows the name of the game when it comes to being the Raiders head coach. Does he like it that way? I would have to say I really don’t think so. But he really doesn’t have a choice because he knows if he doesn’t mind his P’s and Q’s he is easily replacable. And he witnessed that first hand with Lane Kiffin.
I would have to say he really has no choice but to back JR because that’s what Al wants. I think he kind of stuck his neck out there by even benching JR for the half and was probably given an earful for it.
He does seem to have the backing of the players which in tough times like this, it seems like players have called out their coaches on other teams as the problem for their losing ways. And this team will get nowhere if we continue to have the head coaching position be a merry-go-round. We need one coach to be leading this team for longer than half year interim and half year head coach.
If we get rid of Cable, which one of the assistants get to move up to interim head coach for awhile?
Until we hire a legitimate head coach (Gruden) or stick with one coach, this team will continue to be on their losing ways.

I doubt they'll fire him

w/ only a 1 year contract. And Cable would def win the grievance since all these allegations came from the past.

Might as well let Cable finish out the season.

Let’s see if he can get any progress out of this group. If he is let go, I expect Hackett will take over. I like your suggestion of Board and I would love to see a defensive guy get the coaching job, but Al doesn’t hire defensive guys as head coach.

Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast.

As usual noontide makes sense

although KA1Z3R’s idea of having Chiefs head coach Todd Haley call the plays for the Raiders would make the upcoming Chiefs game more interesting.

By the way the passing game cordinator is Ted Tollner and the offensive line coach is Jim Michalczik.

At the end of the season if the Raiders aren’t playing better ball then Cable should go but I really don’t see the point of making the change right now.

Id like to see Cable finish to..I think he will to if hes not fired by tomorrow. Board is a Vet but like you said..Al doesnt hire Defensive guys as HC

Cable is good

No Cable not going anywhere but some jobs that he carries needs to fall into someone elses lap. OC and WR coach would be nice. Leave Cable as the OL coach because they’ve been alright even after these injuries. The Raiders need a Great Defensive Coach and Special team coach

One thing i like most aboout cable

Cable is a Raider and he’s willing to learn

by Black_lion474 on Nov 6, 2009 3:58 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

CABLES FUTURE

Cable definately is not a head coach. but I would let him stay on a focus on what his expertise is and only focus on that. REBUILD THE LINE. Bring in Board as the head coach that is only if he aint scared to stand up to POPS aka Big AL

by Still-a-Raider on Nov 6, 2009 5:58 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Maybe...

Maybe put Cable as Asssistant Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach. That way he still has the effect on the players morale. Kinda like in Semi-Pro. Hes not an “X’s and O’s” guy. So let him be still be there, but just bring in someone who knows the X’s and O’s
