Robert Gallery is Out for Season
Due to a lower back injury likely requiring surgery, Raiders starting left guard Robert Gallery is out for the season. This is obviously a huge blow to the team.

What happens now?
Do the Raiders go with Morris at LG and hope Satele can play with his leg injury? Do the Raiders go with Walker or Barnes at LG and hope for the best? Is it time to bring in someone else?
Man, the Raiders need to draft some damn OL next April.
I'm in the smallest of minorities, but I'm still a big supporter of JaMarcus Russell.
Replacement
He will be replaced by Chris Morris or Langston Walker, with Morris the option if Samson Satele is healthy enough to start at center.
Cable said that he is leaning toward signing offensive lineman Roy Schuening from the practice squad to take Gallery’s spot on the active roster.

yes, and let it be a tackle
a shoo-in for an elite NFL left tackle, long arms, great user of the hands and leverage, quick feet, and a run blocker to boot, that would be good enough to compete with Mario for the left spot, and the loser of the battle to the right spot.
I’m not a believer in Green; nor do I believe Khalif will amount to what we need. I want the Upshaw, Shell, Otto-guys type line back! Nothing less than dominance at the point of attack!
I guess it’s a lot to ask for, and I’m impressed as hell with Mario Henderson, and Gallery at guard when he’s healthy. Langston gives some depth, and I think despite his short time in our system, he’s our best go to replace Gallery, not Morris. If you insist on starting Morris in the G spot then move Langston to RG and seat Cornell. He had a better game last week(no falsies for a change!), but I believe Langston could perform as well or better at the position.
I think both ROG and ROT need upgrading
The Raiders brought in a lot of fringe guys to compete with Carlisle and Green, so it wasn’t a big surprise that none of them took over either spot. With this year’s decline in the run game more emphasis should be placed on the OL for this year’s draft and free agent pool.

Let's look forward to a lot of talent to choose from at both positions
That’s always a crapshoot, but there are some guys available. I’m keeping my eye on prospects and will be watching that position closely during the offseason.
With one or two stud upgrades, one or two of these guys could find their true niche, and with the wealth of young offensive weapons, we could become scary on offense. Defense is already scary, some of the time, and improving all the time. Still think there are some personnel decisions there that would improve overall performance and consistency, but this group can make it work. Just now getting some offensive support.
Was Pittsburgh the first game we’ve had a competitive time of possession all season?
I don’t remember any others; I’m gonna look at the San Diego opener right now.
Raiders actually outpossessed the Chargers, 31:37
giving up the final drive for the go-ahead score. Haven’t yet found any other games.
Except for Sunday of course: 32:47. We also had a better third down conversion percentage: 6/16 37% to their 3/9 for 33%.
And 100% fourth down and red zone efficiency: 100%
Be proud, Raider Nation. Be proud.
In our glory days we drafted OGs & OTs early
But not more often than Defensive Tackles. The DT should be our first priority, then the OL.

This latest campaign vying for worst team in the league again
could put us in prime position to take the DT first, but to see it happen could be too much to expect. Besides, I don’t see anyone other than Suh being potential early first round material or even the Raiders using that pick. Suh will probably be taken, and Cody or McCoy can be had with an early second rounder.
It’s definitely not the glory days, however. I think packaging our early first round pick for more picks or positioning for the guy we know we can get at a certain position will be the best move. Not that we’re ever wise enough to do that, either.
