Oakland Raiders News: Injury Update For the Redskin Game: Robert Gallery Is Headed To The IR
Jerry McDonald (J-Mac) just broke the news that Robert Gallery is out for the rest of the season.
Coach Tom Cable was short on details, but said left guard Robert Gallery “needed a repair done” on his back and is out for the season.
Cable said the injury was not career theatening. Chris Morris will start at left guard with Samson Satele, who took most of the reps with a calf injury, scheduled to start at center.
This is a serious blow to the offensive line. Although Langston Walker filled in for Gallery and was able to hold his own, Robert Gallery is the cornerstone of our Offensive Line.
Albert Haynesworth aggravated his ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Saints.
This ankle problem kept him out of Weeks 11 and 12. He's in danger of missing the Week 14 game against the Raiders
Darrius Heyward-Bey (foot) was held out of practice Thursday.
DHB will have to practice Friday if he's going to play this week. We wouldn't count on it happening. Oakland is better off with Louis Murphy starting next to Chaz Schilens anyway.
I wonder if Chaz or Cable stepped on his foot last week?

DHB
raidernation shouldn’t be so quick to turn on 1st year player,DHB has lots of up side to him so lets give the guy a chance and not decard him so quick,it’s not his fault he got drafted so high, he wasn’t projected to be picked at 7th.if you must blame someone you have al davis.lets not forget who was throwing to biscuit around, lordy i want jamarcus to work out but he struggles(understatement of the year lol)with BRUCE ALMIGHTY chucking the ball DHB might just be the steel of this draft.lets go oaktown and make it two-in-a-row,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
he will be a stud, no doubt whatsoever
the best of the best in scouting and GMgmt know it. He’s working hard. Under the right coaching and with the right squad, he’ll be an elite #1 someday. Hopefully sooner than later.
I haven’t seen enough yet to speak on his develpmental progress, except to say I hoped for better originally. But I see that a lack of a capable qb to get the ball to him, and an offense not capable of producing consistent first downs can put a damper on dvlpmt.
DHB will stretch fields for many years, and will one day draw double coverages; you heard it here first. (I just hope it’s with the Raiders!)
DeAngelo Hall wil be out for Washington, too
Thereby depriving Gradkowski of opportunities to light him up for passing TDs. Bummer.

No Robert Gallery?
Perhaps there will be one less holding or false start penalty on the line tomorrow.

Definitely
will be less protection.
He’s worked on his penalty problems.

The Illustrated One has the toughest position on that line - and his share of penalties

Not LOG but LOT. Here is why, given a right handed QB, the better Offensive Linemen are placed left of Center
this is to protect the QB who is more vulnerable on his blindside. Moreover, due to the angle of attack, the LOT is even more critical to a QB’s success and safety than the LOG. Defenses will often their best DT opposite an opponent’s backside OT.
Thus, our LOT is the toughest position to play on that line.
fn. This is also the reason that blind-side OTs are the most highly paid linemen.

I am aware that Robert Gallery is out after being switched from LOT to LOG
and that Mario Henderson is playing the crucial LOT position. He did well in Pittsburgh and will be tested even more today. I hope Mario and the Raiders have a great game – the Skins DL has a fierce pass rush.
