Bruce Gradkowski hoping to play against Denver
Raiders coach Tom Cable said Monday that he is considering starting Bruce Gradkowski at quarterback against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Just wow right there. But wait. It does get better.
If Bruce plays, he will be playing with a torn ligament in each knee. Cable still seems to consider him a better option than JaMarcus Russell. Oh but wait for it....
"Right now, it's about finding out where Bruce is," Cable said at his weekly news conference. "If, in fact, he's not ready to go, then how do we win the next three football games, period?"
There's some strong encouragement towards Russell right there.
When asked if Gradkowski could be playing Tom Cable had to say:
"At this point, we'll know come Wednesday," Cable said, "But it looks doubtful."
Cable is willing to wait til Wednesday to consider his choices.
Gradkowski played part of the first half with a torn ligament in one knee, so he has shown that it takes quite a bit to keep him off the field.
"I don't count myself out," Gradkowski said. "You never need surgery with MCLs. I'll try to get back, do whatever I can to get healthy fast."
Now there's a trooper.
Other Raiders News:
Receiver/kick returner Nick Miller (shin) is expected to practice this week for the first time all season. However, he doesn't expect to play Sunday.

I hope we dont push him to far
As much as i would love to beat the donkeys i would hate to see thing get worse with another injury i say we cut our losses and start Fry. what ever we do dont start the now biggest bust in draft history even S.D. chargers knew when to say when
I agree
Its obvious to everyone, but may Al. The team is different when we have Bruce in and when we have Russell in. If you saw the game, the first half (besides some b.s. calls) the Raiders were going toe to toe with the Redskins. Bruce went down and the rest is history. My point is this. Bruce is young guy and invaluable to us. We need him healthy because he looks to be our QB of the future. This season is done. Play Russell or play Fry who cares. The only good thing when Russell plays I can see him get his cocky azz kicked, and watch him earn his money in taking a beating.
Miller
Miller has been taking up a roster spot all year and may play 1 game. This is a well-run organization.
so?
as if the one roster spot would have helped?
I should have known you would be fine with this.
You’re right, we don’t need o-line or d-line depth. Yes, I, crazy guy that I am, would rather have a player that would actually have a role on my team as opposed to a guy that wouldn’t. Your defense of this stupid move is ridiculous.
I think Gradkowski realizes this is the best chance he's ever going to get
to be a starting QB so he’s willing to do almost anything to stay on the field. I admire his courage.
Agreed;
I think he knows that #1 If he plays and somehow gets a win, Radier Nation will shower him with love and he hopes that will play into a better contract, or possibly a pass out of the Hell that is the Raiders organization. #2 It makes him look like a player from the old school days that is willing to play through the pain to keep a team together. The problem is that it may end his career and at best add 1 more, yet beloved win, to another terrible season. Bruce, Lossman, none of it matters at this point. Letting J-bust ass go in last week was an obvious mistake and proves that the coach will not make the right choice when given the chance.
