Charlie Frye To Start For The Oakland Raiders Against the Denver Broncos 12-20-09
Charlie Frye is being looked at by Oakland Raider Head Coach Tom Cable as the man who can save his job. It appears that either Al Davis has lost confidence in JaMarcus Russell or that Tom Cable is taking the "I don't care, I am going to get fired if I start JaMarcus Russell and lose three straight anyway so I am going to start the guy who gives us the best opportunity to win approach".
And Raider Nation, I am in 100% percent agreement.
Frye has the ability to opperate in a moving pocket, improvise and throw the deep ball. I have to say that I am very excited to see what he can do in this offense. I am also excited to see Brandon Myers finally get a shot at getting some meaningful reps at the Tight End spot.
No, Raider Nation, this season is not lost, and, what is becoming very clear is that JaMarcus Russell has lost this team and Tom Cable was about to as well, if he stayed with the Me-First Disappointment, JaMarcus Russell.
Go RAIDERS!!!!

QB Start
Great Decision to start Fry. We have a chance to win with him. The odds with Russel & Fry, I go with Fry…

id rather start jamarcus
its a win win if we start jamarcus, if he does bad like he usually does and we lose then were one step closer to a better draft pick, if he does well and we win it builds his confidence and maybe he ends the season like he did last season and he shows some potential. i hope we lose with charley frye tho hes terrible lol

Mekanikal must be Al Davis spokeperson or something lol
Face it dude Jamarcus is going get trashed at the end of the season what ya goin’ do when that happens?! hahahahaha look bro Al Davis is way past his prime when it comes to picking players. It’s a whole new game in the modem era of football now a days you need a QB that can be able to throw and run with the ball at all times. That’s where da man Charlie Fyre comes in Baby!!! Just sit back and enjoy the show with your popcorn ROFL!

The team quit on JaMarcuss
At this point I do not see the point of starting him. I can understand giving him the last games to help form an off season opinion – IF – he was capable of being a little less terrible and had the respect of the team. It’s tough to evaluate the rest of the team with Russell in the game at this point. Look I’m not saying he can put in work, remake himself and land a gig somewhere for the league minimum as an emergency QB but hell never play like the 12 million dollar man..

you are mistaken
We TRADED our #1 draft pick to NE this year, so the ‘better’ spot we have is fro NE. Besides, RAIDERS should NEVER ‘play for the better pick’ unless it is for the LAST pick!!!!

Thank goodness
We can now answer the question, “Do you want Frye with that losing season?” I hope he plays well.

mmm losing season Fryes
I think this falls under the “What the Hell?” kind of move. I don’t want to see anymore of JaMarcus Russell so let’s give Frye a shot and see what happens.

Frye sucks, but.....
I would rather have start then Russell. The guy is useless!

Frye is not that bad of a player. He has started games and he has experience. He can manage a game, but you need to watch out for the Ints. He has good legs and won’t stand in the pocket to be sacked.

Here's how it went down...
JaMarcus: Somebody say Fries?
Cable: No, I said Frye
JaMarcus: Me hungry, me only get one fry?
Cable: No, Charlie Frye…the QB
JaMarcus: Charlie gets my fry?
Cable: Yes, and your job. Now shut up and share that poundcake.

I think we get more respect with Frye starting
actually, anyone except Russell will get us more respect…
From what I have read elsewhere about Frye he sounds like he has his head on straight and is a very hard working. Heck, Cable was saying he even attended game planning meetings the last couple of weeks.
I have to wonder Frye and Grad, when they came here, suspected that they might have a chance to start this year given how bad JRuss has been in has career…

The biggest key that points to this being the only decision to make
Is how the team responds to Jamarcus now; no faith whatsoever, and they look like a different team. Give them a beating heart, and they’ll compete with the best in the league.
At this level, where time after time, the game comes down to every play, you can’t overemphasize the importance of giving the team confidence in the next opportunity. It was perhaps perfect timing after the dickhead opened his mouth like he did to be given a chance to show how bad he is again. And the Nation hadn’t forgotten!
I was surprised and appalled to see he was still second on the depth chart. I’d have released him already.
A wise coworker once told me as advice to a young leader of a team, “you can recover from losing your best player, but you may never recover from not getting rid of your worst when you should.” JRuss is a cancer of the worst kind. He’s getting what he deserves. To squander the opportunity he’s been given with the gifts he’s been blessed with is deplorable to the highest degree. Tyvon puts it best when he says the greatest part of all of it is that he gets to play this phenomenal game, sixteen times a year. You’d think Jamarcus would take a page from some of the fine young leaders this team has. I guess some people will never learn.

Roma locuta est - causa finita est
The Prince is convinced and the ruling has been made. Russell is through – a dead man walking. JPL just arrived and needs some time to learn our system but will still be eligible to play Sunday.

He's a lefty! Could be interesting!
Remember the guy from those NFL fantasy commercials, I believe it was at a bar called “Joe’s Place.” You know, the obnoxious dude, with the very heavy New England accent.
Remember? he’s watching games and commenting. Like that one where he comments, “That Belichick shore is a shahp dressah, idn’t he?” and goes on to bellow, “hey mah, is dinnah ready yet, weah stahvin’ in heeah.”
Anyways, remember when he said, “JP Losman? the next Kenny Stablah! You heard it heah first.” Too funny. The kid is mobile, and Gannonesque. I don’t hate this move by any means. Especially the ramifications as it pertains to the monumental waste of talent that is Jamarcus Russell.
And if he came to the Raiders to do it? Walker and Losman recycled from Buffalo…

If JPL does play then Langston should move to ROT - Losman needs backside protection
That side got Grad hurt Sunday.

not sure where I got his being a lefty. Maybe it was that comparison to the Snake.

This is extremely well said, bravo sir!!!!!
Unfortunately some guys never come to these type of realizations. It still boggles my mind the Russell STILL at this late stage in the game just either will not, or cannot understand what is happening and why. Or, maybe he does and just doesn’t care as long as he can buy his fur coats?? Either way it is pitiful.

I actually would love for him to pull his head out of his ass, but don't see it happening
Love to see VY embrace the opportunity. That’s why the Chris Henry thing is such a tragedy, Dude was balling, and seemed to be winning the battle with his demons.

I love Cable
Yes he may not be perfect but I actually like Cable as a coach and I love him now that he put not one but TWO backups to start ahead of him. Jamarcuss is a horrible qb and I have lost complete faith in him. I’m so happy Frye is starting.

Thank You Baby Jesus!!!
Is this a supreme case of better late than never?
If the Raiders make that fatass, worthless piece of flesh – Jamarcus the starter next year! I swear to Gawd! I will not support them! I will not read a word about them! I will not look at the box scores and wonder why they continue to suck! Please! Let this be a true and holy sign that the Raiders may actually come back and be competitors in the NFL.

If Al hasn't entirely given up on JaMarcus, he's close to it
First, you know for a fact Al signed off on starting Frye this week. Secondly, he’s the one who signed Losman. He doesn’t do those things unless he’s very, very close to ending the Russell experiment. My guess is Al is going to have a face-to-face talk with JaMarcus early in the off-season and either cut him outright or give him one more last chance “make or break” year, depending on how the interview goes.
So glad Frye is starting. I still think he got a raw deal in Cleveland and hopefully he can get us a couple of wins to close out the season and at the least get a shot elsewhere. He seems like a solid guy and hard worker who deserves it. He’ll be an excellent coach someday, I am sure. Cable has already said he’s like having an extra coach in meetings.
"'Tis a bird I love, with its brooding note, And the trembling throb in its mottled throat; There's a human look in its swelling breast, And the gentle curve of its lowly crest; And I often stop with the fear I feel-- He runs so close to the rapid wheel."
