The closest thing to Bo, being treated like Marcus
Did he burn Cable? or did he burn Al? How does this guy not deserve a few carries. Either coaching ignorance or management mayhem! Maybe you can figure it out.
Saw this article posted by Yahoo and had to paste it. Not sure who wrote it, but I guess he likes Bush as much as me. If we dont watch ourselves, he'll be a 1000 yd rusher for someone else!
(RB Michael Bush is healthy but has just eight carries for 36 yards in the Raiders' last four games. "I can't talk about about that," Bush said politely. "I apologize. . . . I'm not going to say anything." With three games remaining in the season, Bush's face may as well be on the side of a milk carton. Never mind that Bush is averaging 4.5 yards per carry, considerably better than either Justin Fargas (3.8) or Darren McFadden (3.1), who are getting the bulk of the work. Or that only one Raiders running back has broken 100 yards rushing in the last 13 games -- and his name is Bush. He finished last season with a 177-yard effort in a 31-24 win that knocked Tampa Bay out of the playoffs, and has the lone 100-yard game this season when he gained 119 yards on 14 carries on Nov. 15 against Kansas City. Instead of serving as a springboard, the Chiefs game became a vanishing point. In a 34-13 loss to Washington, for the first time this season, Bush didn't have an offensive touch rushing or receiving. He never even made it on the field for an offensive play. Even Gary Russell, a smallish fullback, got four touches against the Redskins with two carries (for minus-2 yards) and two receptions for 22 yards. The week after his 119-yard game against the Chiefs, which included a 60-yard run which was the team's longest this season, Bush lost a fumble against Cincinnati and McFadden began to get more work in the rotation of backs along with Fargas. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2008 draft, McFadden had missed four games with arthroscopic knee surgery, returning to face the Chiefs in a limited role. Coach Tom Cable, who earlier said the fumble against the Bengals was not a factor in Bush's decline in playing time, said Bush simply wasn't a part of the game plan against Washington. "I don't know there's room for it right now," Cable said. "It's a matter of getting in the flow. The plan was to come out and move Darren around, so that means Darren and Justin." )

I don't know man
I always thought as a season goes on, you give playing time to those more productive. At the end of the year, if your most productive guys don’t end up with the most time, you screwed up….. Good points, except the title- I wish we had someone like Bo, but we don’t. Also, Fargas?!?!?! I appreciate his work ethic and all, but he’s really wanting for talent. He’s 10th in team history yardage with only 10 scores. He’s been given far too many carries in his career. Mcfadden and bush are both better and should be given most the carries.
Bush should play Fullback
At 245 lbs and his speed he would work out there. McFadden has tremendous ability but has been wasted so badly this season by the Oaf Coach that it’s tragic. We saw a glimpse of his capability v Washington – Get him in space – and watch how he gobbles up the field. Al did well with him. Fargas is reliable and has the Raider temperament. I say play all 3 at once. McFadden is more of a Flanker, if not a Wide Receiver he needs the ball in space. With the right set up and play calling (and Bruce under center) all that’s lacking is a line opening holes and holding off the pass rush for about 25% longer than they’ve been doing. With a coach like Gruden and some key Offensive Linemen, our offense would march up and down the field while the Defense rested for a change.

He's not enough of a body rocker for the lead blocker assignments, though
Good hands and would be a great ball catcher. Gary Russell is probably better right now.
I don’t see us dogging Bush like some guys are calling it. I say they have patience, and he’ll get his chances. I don’t have a problem having three backs like that. I think you have to in today’s game.
It would be nice if Bush were a more physical blocker, though. I believe he would definitely be mixed in at fullback.
Someone said he was approached with the idea
It would take some sacrifice on Bush’s part to accept a blocking roll that springs the guys he’s been competing with for starting RB. But winning is the goal; personal goals must serve the common goal of winning games.

Dude, I like MBush too
And I think he’s being criminally misused, but close to Bo? Come on, man, no way. Jackson was a generational talent.
"'Tis a bird I love, with its brooding note, And the trembling throb in its mottled throat; There's a human look in its swelling breast, And the gentle curve of its lowly crest; And I often stop with the fear I feel-- He runs so close to the rapid wheel." just trying to get peoples attention on this issue
Hey now honestly Bo was something special no doubt. But I think Bush has the combination of size and speed that is very unique like Bo. I was thinking about another Raider that had been misused in Raiderville Marcus Allen, and put together the likeness in my blog.
I think its an injustice to ask him to play fullback and block for backs that he’s better than. He was a reciever in H.S and led his team to a state championship, by his senior year he was a highly recruited Qb and his scolarship in college was initially to be division 1 QB. With the need for a running back on the team, he changed positions and became one of the best college backs in the country, before an injury he was a heisman candidate. What Im saying is, he is a far better athlete than most know and its sad he cant find playing time for one of the worst teams in the league. He’s completing his 3rd year this year and if we dont start using him, he’s going to go in free agency. Guaranteed.

Bush needs to play, but needs to trim up a bit
He surely deserves many carries a game, he’s our best inside runner. But, at the same time, I see a bit of JaMarcus in him, only in that I hate to see professional athletes that don’t appear to be in peak physical condition. He’s 25 and appears to be carrying more than ideal weight. I imagine a deadly Michael Bush at 230 lbs. I wonder how big a part conditioning is playing in his struggles for playing time?

Interesting...
A lighter Michael Bush could be deadly. Good point, cupcakes. And yeah, I but he burned Cable when Cable asked him to play FB and Michael said “No.”
Touchdown, Ronnie Brown Edition!
yea i think he burned the bridge
little stat for you.. as a part time rusher,, he’s given the Raiders the last two 100yd games by a running back.
btw
at louisville he was listed at 250 and that was at 22 yrs of age (leading the country in t.d.‘s),, so he’s probably ok at 245.

He's never going to be slim
But you know, with talent you can carry a few extra LB’s and run guys over, where that doesn’t happen too much in the pros. See: Ron Dayne, Lendale White, etc.

WHAT!?!?!
Did DvS actually make a valid point? I totally agree with everything..Michael Bush is being WAY under used

Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!
Bush is the man.
obviously our coaches dont know how to best use the talented players theyve been given. bush could be a great back if they gave him a shot…….can he be the next bo?…..cant say but we know its not gonna happen if they dont play him.
Bush Is Better than McFadden
I love Bush and honestly thought that there was no reason to draft McFadden, that pick Could have been spent to get a decent WR or LB But as usual the RAIDERS think outside of the box.Bush will go elsewhere and blow up and I hope the he kills us everytime that he plays us …..When will A D ever learn??

The problem w/ Bush
is that Cable for some reason doesn’t like him. Weather it be for that fumble b4 the Dallas game or because Bush doesn’t want to play FB is anyone’s guess. But they need to put aside whatever the problem is and start using Bush like he should be.
Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!
McFadden is a good player, he's just not used being used properly

I agree he's not being used properly
but I’ll call him as mediocre player until he stops falling down at the drop of a hat.

Right or Wrong,, who cares we beat the Broncos!!! LoL
Bush is a young guy with lots of talent.. if he keeps getting carries its gonna be fun to watch. but, like i said, most likely it’ll be on another team, because he’s been treated pretty badly by Cable.
Yeah that,
and I’m trying to remember where I read it, it was a reliable source, but Cable isn’t the only coach little cheesed at Bush. Damn, I wish I could find it.
Anyhoo, the dude has put on some weight and still looked pretty fluid out there. Really need him getting the rock. Hopefully, he’ll remember to wipe the cheeseburger grease from his hands. Don’t need any more fumbles.
But
After Darren fumbled, he turned it up on the next drive with a huge run..He really needs help with the fumbling problem though

All Three At Once
Good call Sons on using all 3 backs at once.Fargas has earned his spot with a football attitude that is contagious . Combined with Bush at fullback and Dmac spread out they all could prosper.I would like to know what Bush’s contract situation is for next season? If Al would hire a Offensive coordinator that could incorporate all three of these guys and move away from his tired offense, these guys combined with Miller,Chaz and a capable QB we could have a decent offense.
one more thing, we also need to have Murphy involed
Louis has been showing constant improvement, is a clutch performer, and has been likened to a “one man convoy” – he blocks.

well this is where we'll lose Bush
He’s a tailback and doesnt want to be a fullback. He really is too talented to ask him to spend most of the time blocking and making holes for runners he’s better than. Thats where he had the fall out with Cable,, and like I’ve said, we have to use him or lose him (to free agency). If we ask him to be a fullback he’ll do his job like usual, but when he can be free he’s going to become a tailback with another team. He has one more year under contract.

Bush will start in Cleveland
Fargus has a sprained knee and even if he’s ready McFadden is suspect – fumbles about 1 in 20 carries. I would like to seem MB rush for another 130+ … especially with Harrison, Cribbs and the run happy dog pound looking on.

130+?
If he gets 25-30 carries against a team that gives up 30+ points against teams like KC and Detroit, He can rack up 200+ Yds. No doubt in my mind. He is a tremendous back that given the opportunity, will become a Pro Bowler and the next “big” HB

That is exactly what a smart coach would plan
Bush, Bush, Bush – move the chains – Bush Bush – move the chains – Bush – move the chains …
especially with our QB situation and Cleveland’s deficiencies.

Cleveland's deficiencies
Gotta love going up against a Rob Ryan defense! I’m so happy another fan base has had to endure all that we had to.
my Christmas wish
Is for Bush to finally get 25-30 carries. I think he’s the type of back, that by carry 20 its all down hill running. The opposing defense will be beaten up and just tired of tackling him by the 4 th qtr. 245 lbs constantly pounding them 25-30 times, the 4th quarter could be easy! well its just what i think.
The game would be over fast w/both sides rushing it
important in Cleveland’s sub-arctic climate. Bush deserved the game ball Sunday, Cable gave his prize to another less deserving (why?); Bush deserves the opportunity to carry 6-7 times/quarter this weekend.

What I'm saying is
there’s no reason not to show some encouragement to the guy. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t show any encouragement to other guys too or possibly give Bush a game ball too.
Win, Lose, or Tie, Raiders til I die!
He gave a lot of game balls out. rightly so.
but, I still dont know about Cable. He only played Bush out of a technicality, because Fargas got injured (very reminiscent of last years game when Bush got the nod and went off against Houston). Its funny how Bush saved him his job last year and he still not very grateful about him. He even mentioned after the win, asked why he hadnt played Bush and he responded because the games didnt dictate a chance for him to play. We’re one of the worst teams and getting beat in games and we dont play a guy who can help us win. He’s really not a very good coach, if thats how he justifies it. He doesnt know his own talent. Im just wondering when Fargas is healthy again does Bush go back to scout team duty, like the last few times this happened?
by DvS on Dec 22, 2009 8:21 PM PST reply actions 2 recs
I really hope not
Maybe Tom has learned his lesson..Playing Bush, leads to success, and as long as Bush doesnt get fatigued, we have a steady chance to blow out the Browns
