Q&A with BTSC!

Well folks, here we are. Your team coming into Pittsburgh hoping to play spoilers for my teams post season aspirations. Your team maybe, or maybe not, trying for a high draft pick (which Emperor Al-patine will undoubtedly waste on a 4.3 guy with no hands). Both of our teams coming off losses that could have very easily turned into wins. Who will prevail this week? Nobody knows, since the end result will be determined by the guys on the field.

Anyway, you got questions, I got answers. Nothing is off limits. Let's go!!!

I'll attach a poll for schnitzengiggle.

Who wins Sunday? (or, how I stopped worrying and learned to love the high draft picks) Sorry, Phantaskippy. :P

Do you really want to go there?

Well, speak for yourself. I don’t know how we could have beaten the Cowboys in Dallas.

Well...

I think he can go there. He has all the room to talk trash. Its really not even talking trash becasue its sadly true. And for the losses shouldve been wins, We didnt really stand an amazing chance in Dallas. But Pittsburg shoudlve won, even with Dennis in at QB.

Going "There"
I think he can go there.

Yeah, but why would we want to? Show some humility when you are a guest.

But Pittsburg shoudlve won, even with Dennis in at QB.

I agree that their loss could have easily been a victory.

I don't think he meant to

Him and I have been doing these Q&As all year and it has stayed very friendly. I do not believe it is his or my intention to talk trash. There is no bad blood for me, especially since I was not around for the heated rivalry from back in the day.

Had we had good play calling on defense and brought on the blitz, I think we could have won. Look at the Philly and Cinci games…

That game was baaaad play calling.

Maybe I should have been more specific in my post. The idea behind this is you guys ask questions about the Steelers, and I (or another BTSC denizen) will answer them.

I understand if some people here on S&B Pride may be a bit bitter and looking for a blog fight. That completely misses the point of this fanpost, but if somebody wants to have a go at me, by all means, be my guest.

You got us all wrong brotha...

Were not looking for Blog fights…Were argumental. We like to debate. But, since your so eager to answer our questions
1. How healthy is Palumaulu?
2. Is your running game effective without Big Ben?

Ben's reported to play.

1. He is out Sunday. I am looking for him to return for the Packers game in week 15 and no sooner. IF, and I cannot make that if big enough, we make it to the playoffs we are going to want him at 100%. Our secondary has been hopelessly distraught without him, especially against deep balls or passes to the RB.

2. More effective than I thought it could be. Our run game abused the Ravens defense, which has been a solid unit all year. We ran for 153 yards with a 4.0 average, damn good. Rashard Mendenhall is coming a long very nicely and a threat any time he touches the rock. Our problem is that with Ben in our OC forgets that the running game exists. Hopefully, with Ben’s concussion situation they will still be looking to hand off the rock more. A more balanced attack could make us a very scary offense in December.

go lick your wounded ego

Why collaborate with the enemy unless your either a detached abstracter or not really a steeler fan? Are steeler bloggers so deficient in ideas that you seek intercourse outside your community?

"Intercourse"?

I’m sure you mean “Discourse”. Well, I, or another of us BTSC guys go over to the opponents blog the Wednesday before the game, to answer any questions our opposing fanbase may have about the organization, players, or anything really.

Look, we’re all fans of the game. We have the same passion for our teams, and we both get bitter about losses. Don’t get all butt-hurt because I tried to have a friendly “discourse” with you guys.

Why collaborate with the enemy unless your either a detached abstracter or not really a steeler fan?

First, it’s not collaborating. We are not working together toward a common goal.

Second, I guess Raybin, by your thinking, is not really a Raiders fan, eh? He came over to BTSC and authored “Ask a Silver and Black Dude”. I understand if you guys are a bit disillusioned with your team, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun, right? So just lighten up, Francis, and join, or I guess I should say start, the conversation/debate/what have you.

Smile, man, all is not lost. :)

Well then, what exactly are we working towards?

I assume that fans want their own teams to win, therefore, I am skeptical when a fan wants to “share” information about his team’s strengths and weaknesses. We are free to visit other team’s sites and obtain information. But, what is the benefit to a fan in divulging specific detailed intelligence about their team to the opposing side? It’s compelling to conclude that such a ‘fan’ is stoically detached from the outcome of the game and merely testing his ability to predict the future. Incidentally, I’d guess that you gamble on sports.

It’s hardly locker room secrets I’m divulging here. We get all our information from the intrawebs, so it’s not like it’s insider information. Besides, are any of you really Tom Cable, or another one of the Raiders decision makers? Doubt it. What we say/do here will have no effect on the outcome of the game, WHATSOEVER.

what exactly are we working towards?

To be honest, I’m not sure “we” are working towards anything. Like I said before, we’re all fans of the game, and fans like to talk about who’s playing, or not, as it were. How we think certain players match up with another, if a certain player will be released/not offered a new contract, etc.

Incidentally, I’d guess that you gamble on sports.

I only gamble with my life.

what is the benefit to a fan in divulging specific detailed intelligence about their team to the opposing side?

For fun, dude. You know what that is, right?

It’s compelling to conclude that such a ‘fan’ is stoically detached from the outcome of the game and merely testing his ability to predict the future.

I most certainly am NOT detached from the outcome. I love my team, and want them to win, duh. Are you seriously saying I’m not a ‘fan’? Have fun with that…BTW, good job on the way you avoided saying anything resembling a question about the Steelers. Fine work guy.

:) :) :) :)

Actually, I have a question for you: how many Raiders fans with your “retarded road-warrior” make-up will be at Heinz field on Sunday? ‘Cuz, yeah, oversized silver and black spikes on shoulder pads isn’t ridiculous at all. Go throw some batteries at some poor innocent kids whos parents just happen to be Chargers fans.

BTW, all vitriol aside, I loved Romanowski and Hostettler. Wish we coulda had them on our team in the ’90s. We would have beaten those stupid Cowgirls for sure in SB 30.

The Raider Nation is comprised of individualistic people

united under one common banner. Those who wear spikes, etc occupy the Black Hole and they have created something that expresses themselves withing the greater context. By contrast, you people collectively & dutifully port towels as Lynn Swann taught you to do and you waive them on cue. This clone-like behavior is degrading. And when will you ever tire of hearing Queen’s “We will, we will rock you.”? Pathetic troglodytes, what could you hope to offer The Nation but cliches and conformity.

Wow.

Did you eat alot of paint chips when you were a kid? I guess you could call supporting your team conformity, but you can’t expect me to believe you don’t own a Raiders shirt, jacket, or hat. If your such a non-conformist, why are you on a blog site dedicated to your favorite team? I’ll even bet (not money, sorry) you have a Raiders window film on the back window of your F-150,and I guess you’re going to tell me you were a Raiders fan before N.W.A. started wearing Raiders Starter jackets and singing about fornicating police. Tell me, SoB, does a person need to be EMO before joining Raider nation, or does that come with membership? Just curious.

BTW, good job on the reply fail.

Never put a Raiders sticker on my F-150 STX 4x4

I don’t expect you to honor your bet – an EMO, at least, might.

That's good

because I said window film, not sticker, so fail on your part. I like the way you effectively side-step anything you think might hurt your case, or discredit what you say. Good job.

I think…yep, I’m done with you. All you want is to argue and incite a fight. Yeah, epic fail. You cannot make me angry, because I can tell the difference between the intrawebs and real life. Nice try though, you get an A for effort, but I’m afraid I can only give you the “Participants Award”, since you came in dead last. Sorry, but better luck next time! :)

Wow

This is honestly one of the most unintelligent things I have ever read in the 9 months I have been reading and posting on SBNation. That is saying a lot, because I’ve had to deal with trolls from Cleveland and Cincinnati.

If you have knowledge on the Steelers, how does that have any impact on the game? Are you texting the head coach or working with the coordinators? Probably Definitely not. Do you honestly believe that any knowledge we have as Steeler fans is some top secret piece of knowledge that your coach and team, who have watched our game tapes all week, don’t already know? Are you honestly that ignorant toward how preparation for games works?

Good God man, you really need to relax. Why would you not want to know something or anything about the opponent your team is meeting up to face off with? I personally think it makes Sunday more interesting, because I can know more about what is going on on the field, besides knowing “Star” names.

So much for being hostile and a decent person who can converse with other humans reasonably, I suppose you kissed that notion goodbye years ago. Believe it or not, football is just a game and has absolutely no bearing on life outside of sports. I have an educated presumption that you won’t befriend a person who is not a Raiders fan. Again, you need to relax, realize it is just a game, and try to friend a Steelers fan at the game (if you go) or bar Sunday. Have a nice day.

First off, thank you for beating the Bengals, that was nice to see. Secondly, what do the Raiders bring to the table in this game? If the Raiders win this game, what will they have done right?

Lastly how do you feel about Seymour? I really hated him in NE, but that was because he was so good. Bringing him in I thought would be worth it if he could bring an attitude change to the defense, effort and accountability can leave a mark long after a player leaves. Have you seen more of that, or is it just his own play he is bringing?

Thanks for putting up with us, I haven’t followed the raiders with much interest since the Charles Woodson years (I’m from Michigan), so I was curious about your team these days outside of stats and names.

Feel free to ask any questions, for the most popular questions here are the answers:

Our O-line is playing substantially better, resulting in sacks after 5-7 seconds, instead of 2 seconds this year.

We throw a lot more this year because of our talented WRs, but also because we have run terribly on first down (outside of last game) and Ben is terrific on first down.

Our difference in wins losses can be tracked to two things, 1st our defense gives up big drive extending plays that they didn’t last year, and 2nd Ben is pedestrian on third downs compared to last year where he got us out of jams an alarming amount of the time.

Good luck Sunday, and yes we still hate the Raiders.

For the Raiders to win this game

we have to bring the defense that played against Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
