Mike Brown
The free safety for the Chicago Bears was cut today. He is a hard hitting safety who can also pick it off for 6. Sounds like he could be the guy to fill our safety gap due to the poor play of Mike Huff. He should atleast get a chance for the starting job because he is a former pro bowler and would solidify our secondary. Nnamdi Asomugha, Chris Johnson, Gibril Wilson, and Mike Brown sounds like playoffs to me.
Mike Brown has been plagued by injuries in the past few seasons but I still think it would be an improvement from Huff and Eugene.
Also, the Lions cut Mike Furrey this month and would bolster our receiving corps and possibly be in competition for a starting spot. For those who don't know who he is, he lead the league in receptions with 98 in 2006. He reminds me of Joe Jurevicius for Cleveland, not a fast guy but a possession receiver with great hands who could be an outlet guy for Russell since it seems like Zach Miller is the only sure handed guy on the roster right now.

Mike Brown
What about money we seem to be short on cash (S/C)?But if money is right i think this will be a very good pick up.
I would not want Mike
I think Tyvon is perfect. I don’t want anyone else here. Also, Furrey would be good here. But, some draft analysis experts say that Crabtree will be available at 7. So, I wouldn’t want to prevent him from coming here.

I'd love to see Brown
He could come in and tutor Branch (aka the future of our safety position) Brown has great tackling and is a very good cover man. Declaring that adding him would be playoffs is a bit too extreme, but I could see us definitely being top-10 pass D with him. My only problem is how much would a former Pro-Bowler be wanting money wise?
I love your comparison of Furrey to Jurevicius. Furrey could very well come in and become the next Curry, (and I mean when he was good) but I’d like to see that be Watkins. The only new receiver I would want is Hayward-Bey. But Furrey does deserve a good look at.

Like you said, we are short on cash.

Just giving my two-bits if
we could somehow get this to work.

Coverage skills?
I haven’t seen too much of Brown in recent years ( injuries, could care less about the Bears ) but i wouldn’t rate his coverage skills as above average. We already have one hard-hitting safety locked up in Wilson and i don’t think we can afford a second (financially or coverage-wise). That being said his knack for making the big play is what has plagued Huff’s career and it would be a nice chance of pace.
I would like to
see Brown retire and become a secondary coach for my huskers….
