A former Bucs football player who currently plays for the Oakland Raiders has been arrested.
Police tell us that Cornell Green got into a heated argument with the mother of his two children at their home in Tampa Saturday afternoon.
According to police, Green destroyed property and physically assaulted the woman and then left the home in his own vehicle.
Police apprehended Green at Tampa International Airport where he was booked on a flight heading to Oakland.
Green was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and charged with one count of Aggravated Battery / Domestic Violence.
Sounds like they got into a big argument as he was leaving to come to OTAs for the Raiders. With no previous criminal problems I highly doubt Green is in jeopardy of being suspended by the league, but for a guy who is now fighting for a roster spot he chose the wrong time to fly off the handle. Let's all just hope that the children, mother, and Cornell are OK, and that Cornell can make a deal with the Hillsborough DA's office and get back to playing football. It will be interesting to see if this incident has any effect on whether Green gets cut from the team.
New reports of the incident are shedding more light on what happened at Cornell Green's house in Tampa yesterday, and they are not good. According to new reports, Green slammed Teriyonal Flowers up against a wall and hit her at least once with an aluminum mop handle. With this new information, and given the seriousness of the offense - domestic violence/aggravated battery with a deadly weapon - Green could easily face discipline from the NFL, and should also face discipline from the Raiders, and perhaps even being cut. You just don't hit women, period.
