Oakland Raiders News: Thanksgiving for Raiders!
From PFT.com:
It's Turkey day for our Oakland Raiders!
After an absence of nearly 40 years, the Oakland Raiders will play football on Thanksgiving.
This year, the Raiders will travel to Dallas for the late afternoon game at the new Texas Stadium. The game will be aired on CBS.
I don't know what took so long, but this is going to be a great game and one of the best on the schedule.
Also, the Raiders will be hosting the Chargers in a week one Monday Night Football double header.
NFL.com reports here on the highlights of the 2009 regular season NFL schedule.

Raiders Schedule
Opening MNF is nice, even though we’ve gotten killed the past two years, and Thanksgiving is nice too.
The NFL Commissioner’s Office is also modifying the schedule to allow East Coast teams to only play 1 game on the West Coast against the AFC West. Thus, if a team plays at Oakland they do not need to play at San Diego, or vice versa. Can anyone say East Coast bias? Thankfully the Raiders’ away games aren’t terrible, with the only true coast to coast trip being to play the Giants.

Yeah, seriously. That’s a little ridiculous.

Our primetime record
isn’t good either. That game on the NFLN against the Chargers was brutal.

Man
I was hoping we could start the season with a road game.

This is a New Season last year dosen't apply
New and young coaching staff that has the respect of our players and if he got us to win two games in a row when nothing mattered imagine how many games we will win when there is something on the line. By the Way you are going to The First game right?

Why do we have to start the season
Playing against the chargers dam we lost to them like 12 straight times first test for cable but if we win that game i bet we will win our division and make the playoffs for sure

Don't worry
I think this team will have the best chance of beating that loss streak. No easing into it I guess…

This will be a hard game to win
It will also show how Cable has improve this team or how he slacked off when he got the job

Cable
Given Al’s history with coaches there is no way Cable can slack off. He won the job and now he has to prove why he did it. I think this off season shows that he is not slacking off as it seems that he is working with Al instead of against him.
I still don’t like Cable but despite that I have a lot of hope in this current team and the relative stability.

I smell another Monday Night blowout
The Chargers’ D is incredible, and their pass attack kills. We can’t forget Sproles either. Our only chance is that the Chargers start out sucking as they have the past two years.
As for thanksgiving, that’ll most likely be another loss. The cowboys are the kings of sacks with DeMarcus Ware. Add in an opportunistic secondary and we have J-Russ hell. Their offense shouldn’t be too bad, but we better pray our run defense has improved. Going up against Barber and Felix Jones scares me. It’ll be close on thanksgiving.

Shawn Merriman will be back
and ready to show everyone that he can still play. However I do feel the Raiders have learned their lesson from last years opener. I feel more confident about this game than I did about the Broncos opener last year.

I'm not very worried
about Merriman coming back he is a good LB but he was out for the whole year a lot of things change.

hopefully sitting behind the FSN desk
has softened him up a bit. We need to watch him all game or he’ll tear us to pieces.

That is realy cool, thank's for the info RAIDER WAY.
I am very happy we get to watch the RAIDERS play Thanksgiving. I hope they win but if they dont it will still be fun seeing them play Thanksgiving.

I CANT
WAIT FOR THE SEASON !!! Thats cool the raiders are playing on thanksgiving, this means i wont pass out during the dallas game or detroit game after my turkey eating. We have a good chance of winning the game and ruining the day for those cowboys.

We will probably
Win against Dallas since they don’t have T.O. anymore and so we only have to worry about Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton which Nnamdi and CJ will take care of real fine. And as for Jason Witten our LB’s and S’s will do fine covering him.
As for the game against SD, I think it will be a close game only if the Raiders really play their hearts out, but if the Raiders come soft they will most likely get blown out. But they do have a chance, I believe in my Raiders.

I agree
Dallas is loseing it’s steam by missing the playoffs last year so they shouldn’t be a problem but as for San Diego it just has been TOO long since we kicked there ass, that win will be very nice to start off the season. In fact the last time we started a season with a with a win was the 2002 season ahh..memories. Time to relive those memories now!
