beside T.O.
everyone has heard by now that the problem child in dallas has been cut. but in addition to him roy willams (SS) was cut as well. i don't know much about him except that he was a first or second rounder. anyone got anything else on this guy. how old is he? i seem to remember he was a better than average SS. could he be a help with our safety problem? could al snatch him up and give him a chance to rejuvenate his career? i don't know, tell me what you in raider nation feel.

Roy williams
picked top 10 out of oklahoma in 2002 or 2001.
5 time probowler
Viscious hitter with ok hands
No very good in man coverage, does better in zone where he can roam and attack.
Not a deep safety. striclty strong safety.
Hits like a mack truck.
I would like the signing by the raiders.
I’d welcome Roy Williams to Oakland. It’s not like we’re strong at the safety spot to begin with.

gotta agree with that
We haven’t been strong at strong safety for a very long time.. so if Al signed him i would be happy and it would give us someone who knows the game and is capable of delivering hard hits that we have missed at this position for a while..
I like to believe my best HITS border on Felonious ASSAULT

so i guess wat ur trying to say is
that we have a weak strong safety.lol.
Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up!!
roy williams
i love roy williams but we have to keep something in mind, he cannot cover anyone, period. thats the whole reason his role was diminished in dallas. with that said though i think we have some very good coverage players players in ND, johnson, howard, and yes mike huff. i think if we get williams we will have to adjust our strategy slightly, maybe let huff worry less about assignments and let him use his ability, much likes ed reeds role with the ravens, then we lock down man coverage on the outside, roll up williams near the line where he excels, and let howard do more covering which is where his true LB skills will show…..just my thoughts but im all for roy williams
I like your thinking Posey. Signing Roy, bringing him up near the line to lay the smackdown on bitches while the rest of the secondary takes care of the cover would be sick.
Keep in mind though, Roy has been missing a lot of tackles the past few years which is another reason why he was cut.

He
was cut for a reason, he hits like a truck but also misses tons of tackles, his Pro Bowls seem to be based on playing in Dallas and being on sports center for big hits. We would have to really have to be comfortable with our D backfield because they would have to pick up the slack, teams will target a SS who is anxious to play the run and gets lost in coverage
No thanks on either one
I definitely don’t want T.O. on the Raiders. Roy Williams is another who is past his prime and a bit overrated to begin with.
