BREAKING NEWS: Edwards to NY by Draft Day.
| Report: Braylon Edwards Going To Giants By Draft |
| 14th April, 2009 - 3:02 pm |
|
Significance to the Raiders? I really hoped the Raiders tried to make a push for this WR. Drops a lot of passes but I really think he's worth it for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Still young, so there's a lot of room for improvement. |

I would say
That was a solid move by the Giants. They need someone at WR that isn’t going to fail, but also like this says- Edwards drops a whole butt load of passes! I just hope he drops those passes on Week 5 when we travel to play against New York @ the Meadowland.

think positive
now Cleveland doesn’t have him.

That's true
At least some AFC (especially West) team didn’t get him!

Conflicting Reports
Some reports say a deal is likely to occur, others say a deal is unlikely to occur. Either way, the two teams have been talking about this trade for over a month now, so as the draft approaches I imagine the talks will continue to heat up.
Regardless of whether the Browns trade Edwards I think they take Crabtree with the 5th pick.
Most Likely Draft: I don't even know anymore.

The more things play out
The more I want to see either Orakpo or Crabtree on the Raiders.
One of the two, they would have to be my first 2 choices, then after that I would choose Raji.

after that I'd trade down personally
i really don’t want Raji.

If this trade goes ahead
You have to think the Browns will almost certainly target Crabtree in the Draft. It seemed likely already but if this happens I would say they almost a lock to go for him.
Which leaves us more likely to be able to draft Raji or Orakpo. I have to say my preferance is Raji but I could see us taking Heyward-Bey…
D for the first round!

I Agree
D in the 1st sounds good. But hey, I also agree with the idea that our defense was bad because offensively, we had no time of possession. So, getting someone to help us here would also be a good decision.

True
All I saw last year was three and out’s maybe one first down in five drives. Give our defense a break which may explain our poor poor Run Defense you can’t tackle when you are really wore out look at what happen to the bucs when we played them, probably the same concept they gave up. The weird thing is they gave up their season we just gave up another loss Oh,well we were already like 4-11 that’s how you start thinking when you have a 6 or 7 game losing steak like we have had for the past 6 years.

I'm thinkin
as mentioned Crab to the Browns
And I’m Liking Orakpo with the 1st
Brace 2nd
Barden (if there if not Brinkley)
Best avail SS
Best avail DT
Reasoning
BC only gave up 75.5 yards per game rushing with Raji not playing. Brace is a beast I think he made Raji better. Hoping he will do the same with Kelly.

I'd rather
we take a DT in the fourth then get Wiley in the 7th. other than that, we’re on the same page

here's mine for those wondering:
1st. Orakpo
2nd. Barden/Brace
3rd. if Brace then Kelly, if Barden then Brinkley
4th. if we still haven’t taken a DT then Terrance Taylor, if we haven’t taken a LB then Jason Phillips/Nick Reed
7th. otis wiley

I wanted Crabtree...
but it seems he is destined for Cleveland if this trade happens. If no Crabtree, Rak, Raji, or any of the OL would be fine. Please no Maclin or Heyward-bey.
Colin cowhurd was bashing Cleveland for possibly getting rid of edwards. he was saying that the qbs in cleveland would be significantly worse if they got rid of Edwards. Even if they got Crabtree, he is no guarantee. The big 12 defenses are not balt or tenn. he says look at the NYG with all of their playmakers when they lost plaxico.
I may or may not agree with his point, but I sure hope cleveland is listening.

I used to want Crabtree
Now I’m all in for defense for the first pick because I fell in love with Ramses Barden I hope he can be in his full potential when we draft him.

I saw film on Barden...
and I wasnt too impressed. Every one of his highlights were 1 on 1 fade routes. The qb just threw the ball up. he was just bigger than his SLO competition.
That may work on 1st and goal plays, but we need someone better. On film, crabtree by far and away looked like the best receiver. If he is not there at #7, I agree with you, go defensive or OL.
I dont think our WR corps are that bad. Crabtree just looked like a difference maker.

Barden
of course his film isn’t that good because look at the teams he played at Cal Poly. But there’s no denying his freakish pro-day numbers and those are in multiple pro-days as he goes to every California based colleges where there’s NFL scouts. each time he’s impressed. The Raiders’ trip to the USC Pro Day, they were more interested in Barden than the USC linebackers, which they originally went to see.
Just because somebody is small school or their highlights aren’t impressive, doesn’t mean they aren’t good.

just because...
they had freakish pro-day numbers doenst mean they will be good either. (Otherwise we would have a roster of willie gaults (I know thats what al davis goes for, and thats the very reason why we need a WR now). I would rather go based on game film than 40 yd time.
There is no film of Barden running over players, or getting hit, yet staying on his feet. I didnt see any great catches, over the horrible competition. All he did was use his frame to catch balls over the little competition. The NFL players are 100 times better than the opponents SLO played against.
I am not saying the raiders arent interested…. we love those risk picks…ie a kicker in the first.

ka1z3r..yes they would be more interested in barden then the usc linebackers..because theres no way we get any of them without a trade…who knows about barden all i know is that he wont be going in the first 2 rounds anyway
