Oakland Raiders 2009 Schedule Released

The NFL has released every team's schedule for the 2009 season, and here is the schedule for our Oakland Raiders. I'd like to thank the Cincinnati Bengals community, The Cincy Jungle, since I used their schedule's formatting. I couldn't work out the kinks when I copied and pasted it from the Oakland Raiders official Web site.

I think it's interesting that we play three of the four AFC North teams in December, and our first three games are divisional battles. Our bye week is nice, as it's split down the middle -- play eight games, bye week, and then play eight more games.

I’m not going to try and guess a record based on the schedule (that’s why they play the games), but my initial reaction was that the second half of the season seemed a bit harder, with games at Dallas, at Pittsburgh (brr!), at Cleveland (brr!), at Denver (brr!), etc. I think you’re going to see JaMarcus rolling like this a lot in the second half of the season:

I love playing 3 division games in a row to start the season – it provides us an excellent opportunity to announce our presence with authority. Winning two of those three games could go a long way toward making a run at the AFC West title.

Most Likely Draft: I don't even know anymore.

I think we need to take advantage

of the fact that between traveling to New York to play the Giants in mid-October and visiting the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, we don’t need to leave California for six weeks (including the bye). And all four home contests are winnable.

But yeah, that December looks pretty brutal.

I'm here to talk about the past.

Decemebr looks bad, but so did last year's

and we came away with two wins there, which we should manage this December if we can beat either Washington/Denver or Cleveland. Two of those three we should win. Cleveland for sure, but Denver and Washington are iffy. The good news with Washington is, is that Portis should be injured by then (due to age)

Look for us to start the first quarter of the season either 2-2 or 3-1. We should beat Denver because they’ll need time to meld together and the Chiefs for obvious reasons. We’ll then win one of the two between Houston and San Diego. It depends on how well Meriman plays and how good Sproles and LT are for SD.

The Houston game is all about how their defense is. We can hold them on offense if we can force them to pass, but that defense has most of the pieces to be good. It’ll be interesting to see how Houston turns out.

I Like Our Schedule

It is difficult, but I think it is better than having an easy one. If one always gets easy opponents, they won’t prepare hard enough for that opposing team. (Evident from the previous season: Falcons, Dolphins, etc)

We have to play 3 of our division rivals the 1st 3 week and I believe it will test our skills.

Week 5-8 will be tough. Giants, Eagles, Jets, and then Chargers. We will be tested heavily during the beginning of our season and should really prove to us how good we are.

The bye week is set at the perfect point in our schedule. It is right in the middle of the season giving us a break from our difficult opponents.

Those two games after the bye seem easy and should be manageable.

Than, we have Pittsburgh and Dallas. OMG, this is crazy. I hope we can at least compete with these two and at least show them we belong in the NFL. Tough games.

The final 3 games should be okay except for the Ravens.

Overall, I think this will be a fun season. It contains worthy opponents. It is manageable since it is broken down so preferably for the Raiders.

I predict at least a 8-8 record.

I would be happy with an 8-8 record

Maybe even a 9-7 if we beat either Pittsburgh or Dallas.

I think we’ll split the AFC West (3-3) and beat the Bengals and Jets at home, so that will take us to five wins. I think in the road games between the Texans, Browns, Giants, Steelers, and Cowboys, we can take one of those. That brings our total up to six. Maybe we’ll handle the Redskins at home, but yeah, I think 6-10 or 7-9 is the realistic record from my viewpoint.

I counted 9 win's

I think we go 9 and 7, and i think i am a realistic fan.

by ra8ers fan on Apr 14, 2009 6:46 PM PDT reply actions

Could win 10

I think we split with SD and sweep the donkeys and KC should beat the Browns, Redskins and Bengals and a good chance against the Jets and Houston

We face a lot of good RB’s obviously LT, LJ, plus Jacobs, Portis, Parker, Barber / Jones, Mcgahee

A good chance to win 9 or 10 if we can stop the run better this year, and have a more balanced attack on offense

ahh

mcgahee, still counts as a decent RB?

not by himself

McClain and McGahee combo, should have been more specific.

You missed my point RUN D needs to improve or we will be picking in the top 10 again next year.
I think we lost 3 or 4 games leading in the 4th Q. Due to a worn out D. (and lack of O)

plus there's Ray Rice

and he’s got some skills himself.

I Love our Schedule

I think playing our division in the first three weeks are great it will show how we measure up in the AFC-West early and the best thing about it we will be sitting at 1st in week four after we beat all of them. I like our Bye week at number 9 it will be the half way mark for us and then we will start the hard part of our season. I would like to challenge our rookies early and see what they got against good teams. Thank god KC has one of the hardest Teams to play.

I would say

That it’s good that we have 10 days in between the Dallas game and the Pittsburgh game. We’re gonna need all of the rest we can possibly get to put up a fight against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

I got 8 wins

but I’ll say 7 because I’m iffy on Washington and Houston. We’ll win one of those two, but I don’t think both.

I say we got..

8 wins on this schedule. I think that we still can’t beat the Chargers, although it could be close at home. But as for Denver, Jets, Kansas City, Houston, Cincy, and Cleveland we should be able to win thoses games easily.

I trust this team

I believe that Tom Cable has made a huge impact to the young players on our team and got them to buy in and believe in what he is saying. I think if we want to be that is IF we want to and try to be we can go 10-6. I think that is what we will end up no doubt however I will see a different Raider team next year for the better.
