I am really getting sick and tired of hearing...

"Al Davis loves speed". it is absolutely ludacris to say the Raiders will take heyward-bey with the number 7 pick. There is no way Jeremy Maclin OR bey will be taken before Michael Crabtree. Everywhere i look all i hear is "al davis loves speed". its like these writers are so un-creative that they just copy and paste what they read from one website.

On Yahoo's Ultimate Mock Draft, where every player in the NFL is avaiable for the draft, Michael Silver has the Raiders, at number 7 taking Chris Johnson, and he wrote:

"– Chris Johnson, RB. Yes, I am aware that Adrian Peterson is football’s best running back. I also know that the cornerback currently on the Raiders’ roster, Nnamdi Asomugha, is the league’s top cover man and would be an excellent pick here. But this is Al Davis’ show, and the man is a speed freak, albeit one with a snazzy overhead projector. When he saw Johnson race his way into the league’s top echelon of runners as a Titans rookie, Davis knew he had to have the kid. The opportunity to upset people in Tennessee – the state whose flagship university now employs Lane Kiffin – is an added bonus."

everybody likes speed, in the sense that your not going to take running back with a 5.4 fourty yard dash. jeez i want to kill someone.

I feel you man. Hopefully Al will surprise everyone by choosing someone like Crabtree or Orakpo, then he will leave everyone with there mouths open. Its time we take this game back, because it was ours to begin with.

your right, except i feel...

even if he picks somebody like Raji, they’ll say “oh raji was a physical specimen and was a flashy pick”. if they pick andre smith, they’ll say the same thing. if they pick orakpo, they would say “he was a height/weight/speed phenom with great combine numberse. a typical al davis pick”. no matter who they pick, it seems al davis will have that reputation, which is annoying.

at #7

everyone must be somewhat of a “physical specimen”. haha, don’t trip, they’ll stop picking on us (err…al davis) once the raiders start winnin some games

Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up!!

ug...ppl think we loooooooooooove maclin

even cable said it,crabtrees foot is a non factor and his top 4 players going in who we could pick was crabtree smith raji an possibly curry…no maclin no bey….

Al Davis and Tom Cable have given NO indication who we will pick

A.Smith will not be a raider. Raji probably wont either
The logic is the raiders priority is to make safe picks. If we go O-line it’s Oher.

Yep

Cable only said that they had four players in mind but gave no indication who they were.

My speculation is Crabtree, Raji, A. Simth, and DHB.

I personally want RAK but I don’t think he’s in consideration.

Just HIT somebody.

Im hoping the only WR

they will take is crabtree w/ the 7th pick. Otherwise go with some of the other names we’ve been throwing around for months. Al D. (or whoever is in his ear) is running a conservative offseason. Let’s continue by shoring up the defensive. We definitely need to improve on defending the run and its always a top priority to protect the QB on the other side of the ball.

Speed is important, but it's not the only factor considered

All teams love speed because speed kills in the NFL game. But speed isn’t the only factor considered by the Raiders, even if speed is weighted heavier for Al Davis. If that were true, then Chris Johnson really would be a Raider because we would have taken him with the 4th overall pick rather than Darren McFadden.

Chris Johnson is a great player and had a fantastic Pro Bowl rookie season, but Al Davis and the Raiders saw more potential from McFadden and chose him with the 4th overall pick. Speed wasn’t the only factor in the decision.

Same thing goes for this year’s draft and WR candidates. If speed were the only factor then Darrius Heyward-Bey would obviously be the pick. Funny thing is, most mocks that have us picking Jeremy Maclin talk about our love of speed and immediately pair us with Maclin – such a contradiction.

The Raiders love speed, but they really love fast players with lots of potential and productive college careers. Times are beginning to change, and the days of filling roster spots with guys like James Jett are gone.

Most Likely Draft: I don't even know anymore.

They all say Al loves speed

because there is no actual info that ever comes out of Alameda. so sportswriters make generalizations about Al from past picks.
This year the Raiders seem to be playing it differently. So hopefully they’ll shore up the “d”
The only WR that should be the 7 pick is Crabtree.
Personally I hope they take Raji then Robiskie and all defense after that. That’s of course assuming that Curry is already gone by #7
