Oakland Raiders draft mistakes
Over time, the Raiders have had plenty of great draft takes.
But they have also made more than their share of mistakes. A number of them are quite visible, and others will be good for an, "Oh yep, I forgot about that guy.". Stinchcomb could not find a home anywhere along the Raiders offensive line. Had the Raiders kept him, he'd have been a fifth-round thieve. However, letting him get away was a massive mistake.
Much too many years for the tastes of most Raider fans. In his 2 years in Silver and Black he managed only twenty-six catches for 288 yards. When Moses was first selected, it seemed that the Raiders had gotten a nick. At a previous point he'd been considered a potential first-round pick.
Both were traded on draft day 3 years on. The Oakland Raiders felt that bringing in Randy Moss could turn the franchise around. Inside 2 years, Moss would become mistake number ten on this list, too. Marinovich had one good game in the NFL, and then turned into a state punchline. He not only did not measure up to his hype, he was out of the league after his 2nd season.

Drafting Huff was a half a mistake because it prevented us from getting jay cutler but it was half good because it gave us jamarcus.
Fabian washington was a mistake because he is not a bump and run corner which is our specialty.
Gallery draft was only a partial mistake because he wasnt built for pure LT. He was however a pro bowl caliber Guard.
Other than those guys i dont see alot of mistakes in our drafting the last few years.

We would've gotten Matt Leinhart with the Huff pick.
Al has stated that he wanted Leinart and chose to listen Shell.

Yeah well
Leinhart hasn’t seemed to do much. I still think Walter would have succeeded if Shell didn’t fuck his career up. And we beat Leinhart when we played them any way. So I can’t decide if you’re saying that we didn’t pick Leinhart was good or bad……

I'm responding to this quote:

Obviously picking Leinhart would not have been a good pickup.

It has been a long time....
since we found a gem in the first round. The jury is still out on russell and dmac. Gallery is turning into a nice pick but not the LT for years to come.
Dont forget about the best 1st round pick ever! a PK?!?!?!?!
Was “awsome ia” a first rounder? if so he is by far the best one we’ve had in a long time. I hope russell, dmac, and crabtree turn into something special!!

If Russell
works on his work ethic and he gets good protection then I suppose he could be a decent QB. If DMC stays healthy, he can be a good RB for years to come. He and Oakland have been working w/ Nike to develop shoes for him IIRC.

Decent QB?
If Russell works on his work ethic and gets good protection he will without a doubt be a elite QB. He is really smart and doesn’t make a lot of mistakes, his arm is without comparison, and his Body and size put him over the Top. Decent wasn’t the word I would use to Summarize Russell.

Until I
see him really improve this season, I’m cautiously optimistic. You wouldn’t call Peyton Manning a great QB his first year of real playing, now would you? You cannot say w/out doubt he’ll be elite. I think he’ll be decent, and until I see him improve, I’ll stay w/ my assessment.
