This would be HUGE.

The Detroit Lions need alot of help they are not sure wether or not to go Defense or QB. I say why not have your cake and eat it too. What i mean is if the Raiders would trade Their 7th pick to the Lions, then the lions could go Curry 1st pick and still have a shot at Stafford at pick 7 if not Sanchez for sure either way its a Win Win for the Lions.

I Know your probably thinking this guy is an idiot, well am I? Lets see, If the Raiders were to do this they can get  Detroit's 1st, 2nd,and one of their 3rd round picks. This seems reasonable considering they are only giving up their right to draft in the 2nd round and they have two 3rd round picks so they can afford to give up one. This would be a great solution for both teams Draft wise and everyone wins

So to break it down Here is what the Outcome would look like.

Detroit Lions Summary

CONS: They lose their 2nd rounder and one of their 3rd round picks.

PROS: They would get 2 top ten picks in the draft and make out looking good with the fans of Detroit after coming off a 0-16 season this would make them look like they are trying to make up for such an embaressment and give them a franchise Qb and LB to build their Offense and Defense around.

Draft Picks: 6

Order: 1, 7, 82, 174, 192, and 255

Oakland Raiders Summary

CONS: We lose the 7th pick and the chance to Draft Crabtree or Orakpo.

PROS: We get 2 more picks in the top 75, enabling us to Address a total of 5 positions with Players from the top 75 category preferably addressing the Defense and being able to stop the run for once. this would also make Al Davis look like a genius and give him some credibilty and overlook some of the mistakes made in the past.

Draft Picks: 7

Order: 20, 33, 40, 65, 71, 126, and 216

And finally my opinion on who we should get with these picks:

#20. Rey Maluaga, ILB , USC

#33. Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech

#40. Evander Hood, DT, Missouri

#65. Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly-SLO

#71. Patrick Chung, SS, Oregon /  *Chip Vaughn, SS, Wake Forest

#126. Shawn Nelson, TE, Southern Miss

#216. Would like to package this pick with Andrew Walter for somebody's 4th round pick and take Troy Kropog, OT, Tulane.

* Indicates alternate if first person listed is not there.

So there you have it this is our best trade down scenario, and is what i would like to have happen.  Give me your opinions wether you think i'm insane or agree with me.  Thank you all very much.

it'd be nice but it's unlikely

I don’t think Detroit could afford to gamble on 2 top first rd. draft picks – salary wise. Too much contract money would be tied up on 2 unproven players.
Best trade scenario is a team trading up to #7 for Mark Sanchez if he’s still available at #7.

Well its not a gamble

When a team goes 0-16 you can only move forward not backward, and besides a player picked at 7 gets nowhere near as much as a player picked at 1.

great scenario

if that were to play out, that would be ideal. i 100% agree with the pick of rey m. at 20. i don’t think ziggy hood is gonna be there at 40 and would say it might even be a stretch that he’ll be there at 33, although if he is there at 33 we gotta take him. bardin is definately, hands down the guy we need to get at 65. 71 i would definately say best available SS. and try to package the last couple of picks with walter for FUTURE PICK or PICKS ONLY.

Good post

but I think Detroit has too many holes to fill to lose those extra picks

What about Philly?

They have 2 picks in the first round, right? Any chance they would want to deal?

by SanJoseA's on Apr 21, 2009 12:40 AM PDT reply actions

they traded 1 of their 1st round.

Nope

philly traded one away to the Bills, and are no longer worth trading with.

Nice idea, but i don’t think the Lions will trade for another Top10 pick and apart from that, Ziggy Hood won’t be there still at #40…
