Davis’ dumbest move of the past 10 years, bar none, except for hiring Art Shell the second time.

If Davis was determined to take a receiver, he should’ve taken Maclin who’s very fast himself, has better hands, is more consistent and is a better kid overall.
Kiper said it best: If you are really committed to DHB, then trade down to 15-20, since he’ll definitely still be there then.

Monroe was a gift that dropped into our laps and Davis threw him away.
I would’ve even rather had Brian Orakpo. or even Malcolm Jenkins.

This is coming from a Ravens fan who watched a lot of Hey-Bey at Maryland and does not believe the “bust” talk at all! You guys need to go after a tackle next. We wanted him but unless we get Pettigrew I think db or lb is more important in the 1st round. Cant wait till our pick, its been a fun draft so far!
ps: I think Hey-Bey wil be a rare talent, trust me.

Don’t you think you’re a bit biased then? I just moved from Maryland, so I’m familiar with the guy. He is unpolished. The guy may have a good potential but maybe in 3-4 years. Al Davis is NOT going to wait that long.

Because based on how Al has acted in the past, he’s not going to give JaMarcus, or Cable much time to turn it around. It’s this year or bust for perhaps the both of them. DHB is not the best fit for the Raiders. The guy is not as physical as Crabtree nor is he as polished. He is not likely to contribute as much this first year, which is critical for this Raiders team. If they finish as losers again, JaMarcus is out, Cable is out, maybe they’ll trade Bush, etc. Basically, it’s just more chaos.
Plus, if the Raiders really wanted DHB from the start, then trade down with another team. He would’ve been there for them in the last 1st round. That’s another way the pick was wasted.

ESPN Reporter said that when Oakland made their pick, somebody from Crabtree’s table said…. “WHEW!”…..so guys don’t feel bad for not taking a player who doesn’t want to play for us. THAT MADE ME FEEL A LITTLE BIT MORE COMFORTABLE.
Okay, so that means Crabtree wasn't the fit.
But still doesn’t explain how we pass up someone of Monroe’s talent. Or Raji. Or Orakpo or even Maclin. FUCK!

Q: About the stats, people are going to look at them and wonder . . .
DHB: Right. People will look at that, but looking back to the games that we had at Maryland and my years playing, you look back at the Cal game, I had a chance to show people what I’m capable of doing. At Maryland what we do is, we run the ball to set up the pass. I’m the type of receiver, I catch, block, hustle and just work hard. So college you didn’t see those numbers, but definitely at the next level you’re gonna see a little bit more.
Q: What about the chance to play with D-Mac/JaMarcus?
DHB: The chance to play with those guys would be great. I’m just an addition to that puzzle we’re trying to make here in Oakland. Those guys are really talented. I’m looking forward to playing with them. Also, going up against a guy like Nnamdi, who is probably the best corner in
the game. So I can improve myself, going up against the best corner in the game. I can only get better going against him every day in practice.
Q: Who was your favorite team growing up?
DHB: My favorite team growing up, being in the DC-Baltimore area I always looked at the Ravens when they got here in the past decade. But always in the back of my mind, I was saying this to someone earlier, the Oakland Raiders was always the team, especially in this area, you always kept it to yourself but that was the team you loved. You loved that Silver and Black. You go out there and get that jersey. Everybody has that Oakland Raiders jersey. Definitely being in the DC area, the local teams but the Raiders were beyond none when compared to everything else.
